Battle of Borodino
September 7, 1812,
The Battle of Borodino  (Russian: Бородинское сражение, Borodinskoe srazhenie; French: Bataille de la Moskova), fought on September 7, 1812, was a battle fought in the Napoleonic Wars during the French invasion of Russia. The fighting involved around 250,000 troops and left at least 70,000 casualties, making Borodino the deadliest day of the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon's Grande Armée launched an attack against the Russian army, driving it back from its initial positions but failing to gain a decisive victory. Both armies were exhausted after the battle and the Russians withdrew from the field the following day. Borodino represented the last Russian effort at stopping the French advance on Moscow, which fell a week later. However, the French had no clear way of forcing Czar Alexander to capitulate because the Russian army was not decisively defeated, resulting in the ultimate defeat of the French invasion following the retreat from Moscow in October.

Rules

General rules:

  • Respect administrators and other players.
  • Only Officers are allowed to use Global chat.
  • No teamkills, rambo,insults etc...
  • You must always be in formation,unless you are near defences (siege/conquest).
  • If you have less then 6 men, join another line.

Classes rules:

Infantry
  • Minimum of 12 men.
  • Must take regiment banner
  • Maximum of 30 men.
  • Fire in Charge is allowed
  • No Reloading in charge,unless you are near defences.
  • No Officer Aim.
  • No Fire out of Formation

  • Minimum of 8 men.
  • Maximum of 14 men.
  • 3-5 men spacings.
  • Fire in charge is allowed.
  • No reloading in charge,unless you are near defences
  • May crouch.

Artillery
  • 3 cannons for team (depending on the map).
  • Minimum of 3 men( officer,cart,artillery man) per cannon.
  • Maximum 6 men per cannon.
  • Arty Guard must behave like lines,it may move out of arty position.
  • Each cannon is allowed to have an engineer.
  • Engineer is not allowed to spam defences,stairs in the sky etc...

Cavalry
  • Minimum of 10 men.
  • Maximum of 18 men.
  • Must be in formation all time before charge.
  • No Dragoons/Lancers.

Punishment:
  • 1 men disturbance - Slay.
  • 1 men disturbance again - Ban.
  • Regiment disturbance - Warning.
  • Several disturbances from regiment - Ban
    of all regiment.

Five phases of event

1)First fights
The conflict began on September 5 when King Joachim Murat's French forces met Konovnitzyn's Russians in a massive clash, the Russians eventually retreating to the Kolorzkoi Cloister when their flank was threatened. Fighting resumed the next day but Konovnitzyn again retreated when Viceroy Eugène de Beauharnais' Fourth Corps arrived, threatening his flank...

Time for this round will be 10 minutes. Both sides take infantry ( 45e regiment and Simbirsky). Admins take HeadQuarters. Each side make double-rank formation opposite enemies.Then,with the order of admin aim and fire.Then all charge happens.

2)Bagration's flèches
The first area of operations was on the Bagration flèches, as had been predicted by both Barclay de Tolly and Bagration.During the confused fighting, French and Russian units moved forward into impenetrable smoke and were smashed by artillery and musketry fire that was horrendous even by Napoleonic standards. Infantry and cavalrymen had difficulty maneuvering over the heaps of corpses and masses of wounded...

Time for this round will be 15 minutes.This phase will be played as Conquest. Lines must have 8+ men to move from the spawn.Sappers can join lines and make extra defences. Out of Fleches lines must keep formation.3 cannons per side.

3)Final attack on the Raevsky redoubt
At 14:00, Napoleon renewed the assault against the redoubt, as Broussier's, Morand's, and Gérard's divisions launched a massive frontal attack, with Chastel's light cavalry division on their left and the II Reserve Cavalry Corps on their right; At the Russian sides, 24th Division of Likhachov was sent into the battle. The Russian fought bravely under Likachev's motto: "Brethren, behind us is Moscow !" But the French troops approached too close for the cannons to fire, and the cannoneers had to use everything to fight against their foes...

Time for this round is 15 minutes.This phase will be played as Siege.Lines must have 8+ men to move from the spawn.Sappers can join lines and make extra defences. Out of redoubt lines must keep formation.3 cannons per side.

4)Utitsa fights
The third area of operations was around the village of Utitsa. The village was at the southern end of the Russian positions and lay along the old Smolensk road. It was rightly perceived as a potential weak point in the defense as a march along the road could turn the entire position at Borodino. Despite such concerns the area was a tangle of rough country thickly covered in heavy brush well suited for deploying light infantry. The forest was dense, the ground marshy and Russian Jaeger were deployed there in some numbers. After the village's capture, Russians and Poles continued to skirmish and cannonade for the rest of the day without much progress. The heavy undergrowth greatly hindered Poniatowski's efforts but eventually he came near to cutting off Tuchkov from the rest of the Russian forces.General Barclay sent help in the form of Karl Gustav von Baggovut with Konovnitzyn in support. Any hope of real progress by the Poles was then lost...

5)The Cossack raid on the northern flank
On the morning of the battle at around 07:30, patrols of Don Cossacks from Matvei Platov's pulk had discovered a ford across the Kolocha river, on the extreme Russian right (northern) flank. Seeing that the ground in front of them was clear of enemy forces, Platov saw an opportunity to go around the French left flank and into the enemy's rear. The sudden appearance of masses of enemy cavalry so close to the supply train and to the Emperor's Headquarters caused panic and consternation and prompted Eugène to immediately cancel his attack and pull back his entire Corps westwards to deal with this alarming situation. The delay contradicted a military principle the Emperor had stated many times: "Ground I may recover, time never." Also, the Cossacks' raid contributed to Napoleon's later decision not to commit his Imperial Guard to battle...

So, is the 3rd phase the only one with cavalry ?
Can I just say that I’m really impressed with the cav community, 10x more mature than the inf community and a lot less tolerant of the cancerous players

We are still thinking about adding cavalry slot in the Conquest phase( Fleches). But  currently yes,4th is the only with cavalry
