Creating a Sound mod - Help needed!
« on: July 28, 2018, 10:29:26 am »
Hello!

I have been making a sound convertion recently and It's going well. The only question I wanted to ask is if it is possible to have more variety of musket sounds, more files that cover them. Is this possible and if so anyone knows how to do this? Do I have to add these file names also in the sounds txt file?

For example I have these files:

But in my notepad only the OGG's are loaded

Thanks in advance. :)

Unfortunately, the way the game files work adding 'musket6.ogg' into sounds.txt will not work and you need to edit the games source files. If you are familiar with editing the source files I can tell you here how to edit it or if you are unfamiliar you can tell me how many musket sounds you need (including if they are .wav or .ogg) and I can put a modified sound.txt file here (edited via the source code).

Oh that would be very kind. Could you also teach me how to do it? Because I actually need a lot more than only Muskets and it's going to be quite a sound project and I don't want to take all your time away. I got Python and Morgh's Editor installed if I need those.

Here's a tutorial, you need Python, however it's a specific older version

https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=11836.0

Once you've done steps 1 to the end of step 3, you only need to open Module_Sounds and put in your extra sounds

EDIT: just be aware you only need: Python 2.7.6, Notepad++, and the 1.2 NW Module Files (https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=373681.0)

Great thanks. :) Do I also have to download the NW MS Source?

Edit: Oh I just saw your edit. Sorry. Thanks for all the help Aternox. Hugely appreciated! I'll get to it at once. :)

Guys, I've installed the mod this evening and I really like it. In my opinion it would change the sound of the muskets and rifles, because it's like the player is firing more than a musket (idk if i explained really well, sorry). And maybe one more change I'll do will be the sound when you kill one (in my opinion I dont like it).

But it has really good things, the sound of the horses moving is changed and is really nice, the sound when you fired a cannonball or cannister I really love it, I like this mod nice job Achiles! ;D and I'm waiting more updates! ;)
