Basketball was invented by a Canadian and baseball is being argued as to having been invented by Brit soldiers in Canada and some say there was even early evidence of a type of baseball being played in Britain.

MLB and NFL is irrelevant because they aren't even Olympic sports. It defeats the idea of inventing sports to be better then others at it. At the same time a bunch of South American countries have bested the U.S in baseball.

Spain has a good basketball team and Yugoslavia used to have a good team too. A few other countries have respectable teams but because of the population of the U.S and it's popularity it really doesn't matter how popular it is in other countries.

If the U.S had cared about euro Futball they would probably be one of the better teams by now. They just need to win 1 World Cup and then they are on par with England, France and better then half of Europe in a sense.

Good thing the Europeans have the Euro so that shit futball countries like England can pretend to be good at futball for a while.
Hahaha. Italy has more World cups then all of Europe and is tied with Germany.

I guess it's better to be good at your own sports then to suck at everything except darts and snooker.

Not really, especially since Donovan retired. I mean you had a decent run at the world cup mostly due to underperforming Ghanian and Portoguese teams. But once you came up against european heavy weights they were dominated playing wise.

While I agree the US is not one of the top 20 national teams in the world, I bet more than 3/4 of the teams in Europe would struggle to beat them, including England.

Well they certainly have team quality, something that a lot of nations lack,but in terms of individual quality the US is still behind.

The best player you have is probably Jermain Jones or Dempsey. Neither of which are world class talent. While if you compare with smaller(Football wise) European sides like Wales (Bale, Ramsey), Poland (Lewandowski, Kuba, Pisczek), Serbia (Matic, Ivanovic, Vidic) and Sweden (Zlatan) still have major talent spread across them.

So yeah, whilst being a pretty decent team, they just don't have the quality to be anything else.

I'm so disappointed with Swedens current team. They don't even want to play, they lack so much energy and just seem so disinterested.

I was quite happy when our U-21s beat Ivory Coast's senior team though. The future is bright.
