The Cavalry Champions League has officially started this week and what a better way to kick things off than having the 1er Régiment de Cuirassiers taking on the 11e Régiment de Hussards tonight for the very first match of the competition.

This first week will be the occasion for regiments to test their strengths and get their footings in the tournament and it is needless to say that they will all aim at making the best of the impression for their very first encounters.

As mentioned earlier, one of the big clashes for this week will be the Frenchmen from the 1erRC lead by Squall facing a very in-form 11e squad. Even though the 11e currently has the edge after some very strong showing in practices, you can bet that the pressure coming with the official matches is going to affect both teams and on that side, the 1erRC definitely is the more experienced group out of the two. Facing heavy cavalry is always a tough challenge, especially for the first match and the 11e won't be able to rely solely on their numerous skilled players to win that battle. Whoever comes on top of that confrontation will certainly gain a strong momentum coming in the second week.

Another interesting confrontation will be between the Nr4 and the 5e later this week. Both regiments have been looking rather sharp these last few months and put a lot of efforts in practices and most of their encounters happened to be very close. If the 5e Hussards arguably has the edge, it's a very slim one and the Nr4 definitely has the potential not only to get the draw but also defeat the Frenchmen fair and straight. It will mostly come down on small details such as which regiments have the most 'in-form' players and make the least mistake.

The two other matches should be a bit more one-sided and if the 2Lr and 16e both have a lot to prove and shouldn't be underestimated in any way, the Nr6 and 4e are still the heavy favourites in these matches.

A reminder that the scheduling deadline is the time frame in which you have to organize your match (make contact with your opponent, agree on a date, agree on a referee, announce it on the forums) and the match deadline is the time frame in which you have to play your match.

Thanks to all regiments for announcing your match in time, it might not be much for you but it shows you are all committed to making this competition as smooth as possible and we appreciate it.
 
Remember that since this tournament takes place in EU timezone, the date has to be announced in 'DD/MM/YY' and not 'YY/MM/DD'. (Looking at you Mr. Lindblom! Edit: There was actually a typo in the template date wise, so that's on me!). In most cases, it's not problematic as easily spottable but in the situation above, it's easily misleading that you might be playing on Saturday whereas your match is, in fact, today (Friday).

The matches, with date, time and referee have all been edited in the OP. Do note that the time of the matches will always be written in CET. You are free to announce it in GMT/CET or else as long as we are able to convert ourselves afterwards in order to keep coherence between different matches/weeks. We are still looking for a referee for the Nr6 match but we should be able to work it out.

Many thanks to Wüstenkrieger for referee this long match and Saphyro for being his junior referee. We had a bit of a chaotic start when it comes to spectators because it was the only match today and nobody else was playing beside the 11e and 1erRC. I will publish an announcement tomorrow in order to make sure we are all on the same line.

It was an amazing match from both teams. On each side there were 24 contestants which hat fought in many close rounds.
Form me it was an amazing match to be referee, it was really enjoyable to see those teams fight for there life!

The result sadly doesn't represent this amazing match, nonetheless all persons who were there know what i'm talking about.

Quite an intense first week to start things off. Well played to all regiments and thanks to everyone for announcing and playing your match within the given deadline. Please next time, however, try to update your roster with correct IDs before the match starts so I don't have to do it while I am casting the match myself. Many thanks to our referees as per usual, as well as everyone involved. It was a successful launch, let's get this baby rolling.
