The Mess Hall / The Joke Game

This thread was created for you [the sad people of the internet] to share your jokes, preferably cheesy or humorous ones. But as we know, we're not all talented.

Personally, I have no problems with racist jokes, but if you feel the need to post one, refer to the FSE rules so we don't get into trouble :P

Joke away...

When did you start playing MM/NW?
What regiments have you previously been in?
Have you done anything notable?
Current Regiment/rank?

Something like that. Let's see what we get :)

Please feel free to post anything related to this subject, that being Regiments and history of NW/MM.

Enjoy.

This thread is for those funny, quirky or memorable quotes once said in a battle. Background on the situation can be given (NOT REAL LIFE, IN NW)

I will start it off -

"Rabid, your recruits are retarded. They never speak!"

"It does not matter if they speak, what matters is if they listen"

The 2nd Brigade
Introduction

Welcome to the 2nd Brigade Thread !  The Brigade was created with the objective and goal to have a nice community, with players that enjoy the DLC "Mount & Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars" and have fun together.

History

The 2nd Brigade was a regular Brigade of the British army, with a long history. Its existence as a permanently embodied formation dated from 1809, when it was established by Lieutenant General Sir Arthur Wellesley (later to become the Duke of Wellington), as part of the Anglo-Portuguese Army, for service in the Peninsular War. (Prior to this, it was common for formations with the same number to be temporarily established for a single campaign and disbanded immediately afterwards; divisions remained a permanent part of the British Army's structure only after the Napoleonic Wars).
The brigade was associated with the north of England. The divisional insignia, the Crossed Keys of Saint Peter, were originally part of the coat of arms of the Diocese of York, and were adopted before or during the First World War. It was disbanded on 1 April 2012.

The 50th (West Kent) Regiment of Foot "The Dirty Half-Hundred"
https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=11220.msg401667#msg401667
The regiment was originally raised as the 52nd Regiment of Foot, but was renumbered in 1757 following the disbandment of the existing 50th and 51st regiments. It spent most of the Seven Years' War in England, raiding the French coast in 1757 and fighting in Germany in 1760, where it saw action at the Battle of Warburg, the Battle of Vellingshausen, and the Battle of Wilhelmsthal.
The regiment was posted to Jamaica in 1772, and then to New York in 1776. At this point, troops were transferred to other regiments and the officers returned to England to raise a new force; as such, the regiment did not see action in the American Revolutionary War. In 1778, they saw action serving on various ships of the Royal Navy as marines, including at the First Battle of Ushant. In 1782, they changed their name to the 50th (West Kent) Regiment of Foot.
During the Napoleonic Wars, the regiment saw action in Egypt, in Denmark, and in the Peninsular War, including the Battle of Corunna. A second battalion was raised, serving from 1804 to 1814; it saw action at Walcheren, as did the first battalion.

After a battle in the Peninsular War, the regiment was nicknamed the Dirty Half-Hundred; the regiment had worn uniforms with black facings, and when they wiped sweat away with their cuffs the dye stained their faces. (Half-hundred is a play on "fifty")

The 176th Highlanders "McCarthy's Own"
https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=7440.0
The 176th was raised in 1778 by Connor McCarthy, from the surrounding area of Glasgow in preparation for a rumoured Irish rebellion (in the light of the American Revolutionary War). The Regiment was originally formed as a Militia Regiment, nicknamed "McCarthy's Own", as he paid them and funded them out of his own pocket. In 1792, at the start of the French Revolution, His Majesty King George III presented the Regiment with their own colours, naming it the '176th Highlanders'. Still led by Colonel McCarthy, they were posted in various countries throughout the Napoleonic Wars, most notably Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The 7th (Royal Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot

https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=11293.0
The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) was an infantry regiment of the British Army until 1968 when it was amalgamated with other regiments to form the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
It was known as the 7th Regiment of Foot until 1881. The Royal London Fusiliers Monument, a memorial dedicated to the Royal Fusiliers who died during World War I, stands on Holborn in the City of London.

The Royal Horse Artillery
The regiments of the Royal Horse Artillery (RHA), dating from 1793, are part of the Royal Regiment of Artillery (commonly termed Royal Artillery) of the British Army. Horses are still in service for ceremonial purposes but were phased out from operational deployment during the 1930s.

The 21st Rifles "Darkeh's Privateers"

The 21st Rifles were originally formed by Lord Darkeh, and were a regiment in the British army formed in the 1800s as an "Experimental Corps of Riflemen". They drew their officers from the elite of a variety of British regiments. They differed in several regards from the line infantry of the British Army. Most significantly they were commanded on the battlefield by none other than the feared Captain Squaigbeard the Great who is said to have consumed the souls of his enemies as a part of his daily nutrition. The riflemen were armed with the formidable Baker rifle, which was more accurate and of longer range than the musket. The tactics of the regiment have been described as enigmatic at best, as there were few survivors to describe the devestating strategies that the regiment employed. They have seen action in every major battle in the napoleonic period, despite little being written about them as evidence.

Community / The Most Hated Person on NW?
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:38:53 am »
I'm not sure how taboo this topic will be, or how much the Admins will abhor me for doing this; but curiosity induced me to make this topic to see what people think.

I have a few ideas about who could potentially be the most hated person in Napoleonic Wars, but for the sake of sanity and diplomacy I shall not bow to such temptation.

I find it extremely interesting seeing all the slander and hatred between Regiments, and am extremely fascinated to see what you think.

I hope you enjoy this debate, and if I may ask, try not to openly insult people - try to be diplomatic!
