THE BRUNSWICK LEIB-GUARD BATTALION The Brunswick Leib-Guard Battalion was an association of the Brunswick military and existed from 1815 to 1893. The origin of the Leib-Guard Battalion goes back to the "Black Brunswickers" set up by Friedrich Wilhelm of Braunschweig-Oel in 1809, which fought against the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte. The Freikorps changed as "Brunswick Oels Jäger" in English service and from then on fought under Wellingtons command in the so-called „Peninsula-War“ in Portugal und Spain, until returning to Brunswick on the 10th November in 1814.
