Who are we?

The 1teKF stands for the 1st "Kaiser Franz" Husaren or 1st Emperor's own. The regiment was also known as, and probably best known as, "Kaiser Husaren" and was raised in 1756 just before the outbreak of the Seven Years war. The 1te is the 1st regiment of hussars and is also considered the most prestigious hussar regiment in the Austrian army at the time of the Napoleonic wars, having more medals (79) and earning more pay (10 gold) than any other cavalry regiments. Alas regimental history, surprsingly, is incredibly hard to find surrounding this regiment. However, we know the partook in several campaigns and battles such as Austerlitz and Leipzig. There's a bigger list under History for those interested.

We aim to be a fun but also a serious regiment in NW. We aim to be a competetive regiment, however, we also want our members to have fun therefor we participate in both 1v1's/5v5's and Linebattles. We will also train new people for them to gain better personal skills as a cavalryman.

We added our 1te "Kaiser Franz" Artillery, or the "1st Emperors artillery" in February of 2018. This is not necesarilly an official Kaiser Franz regiment, but as we wanted to keep this as one regiment we decided to name it as such. The artillery aims to give what the hussars also gave, a fun, enjoyable yet still disciplined environment where people from all nationalities can come and enjoy artillery together.

We also Co-Host a Saturday Linebattle

Cavalry

The regiment was raised in 1756 in the Komitat (administrative county) of Neutra (Hungarian Nyitra County) by Kaiser (emperor) Franz Stephan I, at his own expense, on his estates in Holitsch (present-day Holíc in Western Slovakia). He appointed Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Ignaz von Almásy from Festetics Hussars to organise this regiment which was initially known as Des Kaisers neuerrichtetes Hollitscher Husarenregiment and counted 6 squadrons but was soon designated as the Kaiser Husaren. On September 29, the emperor appointed Almásy colonel of the regiment who assembled at Soroksár, Debreczen, Barkán and Pressburg (present day Bratislava/SK).

The regiment later recruited in the administrative Counties of Heves, Pest and Pressburg.
At the beginning of the Seven Years' War, the regiment counted 6 squadrons.

During the Seven Years' War, the regiment was under the nominal command of:
since 1756 until August 18 1765: Emperor Francis I (Franz I)

During the Seven Years' War, the regiment was under the effective command of:
from 1756 to 1763: Colonel Joseph Ignaz Count Almásy

In the Spring of 1763, the regiment went to Saaz (present-day Žatec/CZ) where it was reviewed by FZM Lacy. In May, it finally reached his garrison places: Käsmark (present-day Kežmarok/SK), Liptau (present-day Liptov/SK) and Nagy-Sáros (present day Velký Šariš/SK).
In 1769, the regiment was ranked No. 2 among cavalry regiments. In 1798, it was numbered 1 among the hussar regiments. It remained in service until 1918. The Inhaber (proprietor) of the regiment was always the reigning emperor.

Battle Honours/History

1800 - Battles for Ulm, later in the Upper Palatinate, the unit had great losses in the battle at Abbach.
1805 - Retreat to the Inn and on to Hungary. Transfer to Moravia and participation in the Battle of Austerlitz and the battle near Kostel.
1809 - In the campaign in Poland the regiment belonged to the VII Corps Campaign to Russia
1812 - Three divisions of the Union were assigned to the so-called Auxiliary Corps of Prince Schwarzenberg.
1813 - The main army in Bohemia and Saxony, battles at Wüst-Olbersdorf, Reichenberg, Kratzau, Battle of Leipzig, and attack on Hochheim.

Quote

"During the Napoleonic Wars, 4 Hussars wanted to attack
40 enemy light cavalrymen. Their Oberleutenant ordered
them to fall back as they were so outnumbered.
'Eh ?' grumbled unhappy Gemeiner, 'I have never heard that
we have to count the enemy before we attack."

"Hollins "Hungarian Hussar 1756-1815"

Artillery

The pre-Napoleonic Austrian artillery was held up as an example to the world. It enjoyed a high reputation for the quality of gun powder and ammunition. The artillerymen, recruited mostly from the German provinces, has always stood high; not so much by early and judicious adoption of improvements, as by the practical efficiency of the men. In 1805 Prince Czartoryski noted that before the battle of Austerlitz "Anxiety was impressed on the faces of the Austrian General, the officers and even the soldiers. The artillery officers alone did not give way to the general depression, and expressed absolute confidence in the effect of their guns." (Czartoryski - "Memoirs of Prince Czartoryski ..." II, p 107)

The gunners were volunteers and not recruits as it was the case in majority of European armies. The rank and file were able to read and write in German, the NCOs and officers were professionals. The enlistments were 14 years for artillery and engineers as comparing to only 6 years for infantry. The famous French Gribeauval system was based on Austria’s Lichtenstein system. In 1811 Austria also began the establishment of rocket troops based upon the British invention.
