### For the final version of this mod ###

Factions

• The first version will have two factions which join the fight!
The Continental Army, together with various mercenary classes like Native Americans and French;  or fight for Great Britain, together with their native and german friends!

Uniforms

• A large amount of high-quality, historically accurate uniforms for each side!
• Many uniforms of famous regiments!

New Rank System

• Each soldier can choose various amount of historical ranks.
You are a Lieutenant in your regiment? Feel free to choose a Lt. uniform and be proud of your rank. Even the common soldiers can choose different ranks like Corporal or more.
Each rank will be displayed on your uniform!

Uniform customization

• While each unit class has some predefined uniform models, you are able to customize some parts of your uniform.

Continental soldiers are able to choose different hats or slouch hats. They can also choose their uniform color or equipment parts.
While the british uniforms are mostly quite regular, you can also choose different hat styles for example.

New Battlefield tactics!

• Most of the features are based on our North & South mod, some of them will be ported to 1776 too!
• Muskets do not have a fixed bayonet at spawn. Fix and Unfix bayonet command is important now.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2FZHtK_B3I

• Supply trains are added. Those can be limbered with an artillery train and moved around. Each supply wagon offers resupply crates to refill your ammo!
• New wounded system: When you get hit and actually survive, you are wounded and slowly bleeding to death! To avoid that, we introduced a new unit class:
The Medic! Medics will spawn with 8 bandages, to fix the wounds. So better get some medical support near your regiments.

New reload and fireing animations
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uajPC4yxjtE

Maps

• A large amount of historical accurate maps, which feature different parts of the war

Banners

• A large amount of high-quality, historically accurate flags and standards for each side!
• A large variety of in-game banners for each side!

Weaponry

• A wide array of historically accurate weapons!
• Fight with smoothbore muskets, rifled muskets, pistols and more!
• There's a good variety of swords to use as well!

Ingame player regiments!

• Helpful and loyal player regiments can get their own unique regiment ingame! (feature is not fixed yet)

With a small donation, regiment leaders can get their regiment ingame. You and your regiment will be able to play a new class, which is just available and unique to your regiment. You will have your own name, own uniform and flag colors. That regiment with its own uniform is exclusive for you and your soldiers, while other players can see your unique uniform and be jealous.
Those regiments have to be historical and american revolution based of course!
Loyal North & South regiments have a privilage here!

You could do Pulaski's Legion. It had Lancers, Dragoons, and Light Infantry. And would be a more historical choice.

Wow, I'm surprised to see this actually, well... I'm surprised to see it from Hinkel. This is great news, I am strongly anticipating this mod even far more than I did for N&S. I have one extremely serious, and extremely important question. Are you guys using Mount and Blade models, or porting Total War unit models? I ask, because the use of Total War unit models makes the models in N&S look terribly weird, and terribly mutated. I really hope you guys will take the time to fit the uniforms and models to the actual Mount and Blade characters.

Good Luck: Hinkel and Antietam, Gabrilduro and his crew, and anyone else working on the mod. I may even just quit NW for this if it gets enough attention! :D

P.S. Please, for the love of Satan, add the 2nd New York Infantry to the Continental Army. They played a HUGE role in the American Revolution, and... uhm... I'm from New York.  :D

Thank you Kpetschulat!
Yes, the models are all Mount&Blade like, since nearly every model is done so far. I just have to rework most of the textures.

Since its the first wish and it is you, the 2nd NY will be in. I like their uniform too! :)

Hmmm, I have never seen the 2nd New York in Brown. Below is the correct uniform that they wore. Excuse the 2nd Maryland at the top of the first pic, the "2nd Maryland" and 2nd New York had almost the same uniform.

Similar to 2nd New York Uniform

Well, I'm using historical army facts  :P:

The new york state units were well drilled and often compared to Regulars. All were issued uniform coats, the 2nd Regiment receiving brown faced blue. Deserter and other descriptions also cite brown waistcoats and blue breeches.

Well, I'm using historical army facts

Mind giving me the link to the site you're getting the info from? My sites I'm looking support my links... I really, truly and honestly, thought the 2nd New York wore a blue coat with red facings, yellow breeches and waist coast, and white gaiters. Quite possible that they switched uniforms after the reforms of the army.

Well, Hinkel. I'm sorry for doubting you. I've been doing some serious research and it seems that the 2nd New York did indeed where brown coats with blue facings, white breeches and waistcoat, and or black breeches and white waistcoat. However, I saw some pictures of 2nd New York Infantry also wearing blue coat with a beige/orange facings, white, black or beige/orange breeches, and a white waist coat. I don't know, if that's true. But, I'm seeing all different styles for 2nd New York Infantry.

I find this weird. Because so many sources support what you said with the Brown Coat, etc... But, then so many sources support what I said originally.

Well, this will be interesting. I foresee some (Hopefully friendly) competition between the NA and EU community in this mod. Good luck lads, and I'm looking forward to it!

Also, any chance of the light company of the 46th Regiment of Foot making an appearance? I dare say they earned such a thing. :P

Only Highlanders that I can think of that actually deserve a spot in the mod are the 42nd Black Watch. They played the largest role out of any highlander regiment in the American Revolution.

There were Hessians who fought with the British. The (in)famous "Crossing of the Delaware" was done against unsuspecting Hessian troops.

Ah but they aren't reserving, they're just stating what they're going to reserve when reserving begins. Completely different.

I think because the models in his mods are terrible and they "glow" or are very glossy

I kind of.....agree....

Yup, couldn't agree more. I thought you were going to say something more on the lines of, "Because Gabrilduro is the worst Modder ever." Or some other bullshit like that. I personally, only like Gabrilduro's mods for their gameplay and units. I strongly dislike his textures, which are flat, and as you said, often glossy. I think Gabrilduro is only mentioned because this is a MP version of his mod.

I love the thought.  I can't wait to see this.  Are the only two factions going to be Continental Army and UK?
I'd be surprised if France weren't given the fact that the US would have either A. Lost or B. had much longer time to achieve independence if it wasn't for the French.

Exactly.  I'd like to not only see the two main belligerents of the conflict, but allies of either side?  Like you said, France would be a nice addition.

France should have a couple units in the Continental Army faction, along with a Native Auxillary unit. Britain should have Natives, Canadians, and some Germans, such as the Hessians and Brunswicker's.

I'd like to make a table with unit suggestions, as follows:

Continental Army
"For Liberty, and Justice for All!"
Infantry
Minute Men Militia
Continental Army Line Infantry Regiment (Standard Uniform)
French Line Infantry (Standard Uniform)
1st New Jersey Volunteers
1st Delaware Grenadiers
2nd New York Infantry Regiment
2nd Maryland Infantry Regiment (Elite)
Morgan's Provisional Rifle Battalion (Skirmishers)
Cavalry
Pulaski's Polish Legion
Henry Lee's Light Dragoons
Native Auxillary Cavalry (Native Indians! :D)
Specialists and General
1st Continental Army Artillery Battery
Continental Army Engineer Corps.
United States Continental Marine Corps.
Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, George Washington

The 16th weren't lancers until 1816, I believe.

They were unique amongst the light cavalry for their red coats. Here's an image of a lancer in the victorian era.

According to one of the sources I read, if I can find it, I'll update this post, the the 16th "Queen's Own" were lancers, but more often so were just a heavy regiment of horse. I think it would be better to keep them as lancers, since the Continental Army, according to my list, has Pulaski's legion, which were lancers. It would be unfair to the British to not have lancers.

I totally love your list, kpetschulat!

I'm happy you like it! I took the time and researched popular and famous regiments of the American Revolution.

I doubt it will be used, considering the people who buy regiments will be ingame.

I'm sure, the odds of people actually donating for their own regiment is very small. I made a list based on regiments that were well know in the war, and it's quite possible that people who want to donate will pick one of the regiments I listed. I suggested to Hinkel the 2nd New York, and he's actually putting it in. So, I'm very grateful for that. :D

Omg, they did have lancers... Lol. That's what I said. THe regiment was called 16th "Queen's Own" Regiment of Horse, they doubled as Lancers and Heavy Cavalry. However, they only used Lances in one battle. Brandywine Creek. They fought in two other battles though, but as heavy dragoons: Paoli and Monmouth Court House. I think it would be better to make them lancers though. It'll give almost the same cavalry to the British as the Americans.

Okay, you're list is interesting. Idk why you changed certain things I had. 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment was a volunteer infantry regiment, and more or less an organized militia. It was in no way an elite infantry unit compared to the 2nd Maryland. Also, there was no such thing as a "3rd" Coldstream Guard. The British Guard units were as follows: 1st "Royal Scots" Foot Guards, and the 2nd "Coldstream" Foot Guard, and the 3rd Inniskilling Foot Guards. Only the 2nd Coldstream fought in the American Revolution. I do however, like how you added Gridley's Artillery. They were excellent artillery. You know, Americans are renown for our superb artillery throughout the years, and to this day have the best artillery in the world. 5th Connecticut Regiment of Horse, as they are actually called, is also a great addition. That could work out well.

No such thing as 3rd Coldstream. The Foot Guards regiments of the United Kingdom are as follows.

1st (Grenadier) Guards - Originally a Royalist Regiment raised in the English Civil War. Given their name after Waterloo for their defeat of the French Grenadiers.
2nd (Coldstream) Guards - Originally a Parliamentarian Regiment raised in the English Civil War. Took the name 'Coldstream' from the place they were founded.
3rd (Scots) Guards - A Royalist bodyguard from the Civil War, given that the Stuart Kings were also rightfully Kings of Scotland (which would later lead to the Jacobite rebellion)

And then we have two more formed in the 20th Century.
4th (Irish) Guards - Formed 1900
5th (Welsh) Guards - Formed 1915

The Royal Scots were the 1st Regiment of Foot, not the 1st Guards regiment.

The problem for the French line infantry at that time is that each regiment had a different uniform. I made some researches, and I found 2 interesting ones that fought in the American war of Independence. Colours are almost the same though, maybe you can choose the one you prefer or I can keep researching more regiments  ;)

The 88th Royal Irish was formed prior to the Napoloenic Wars, however you're right, in a sense. They were not made the Connaught Rangers until 20 years the latter of the American Revolution. I'm going to redo the list with new regiments and the suggestions you guys came up with...

Also, I'd say anyway that the developers already have regiments in mind.

I already have the 42nd Black Watch on there, far more important highland regiment.

I took this pic from ETW with a mod I have. It's a historical mod. Makes all units 99.99% accurate. :D I'd love to see the Royal Deux Ponts Grenadier Battalion in the mod, to be the Royal Deux-Ponts I suggested.

Well, that's part of the "American Revolution" mod. Which, changes the uniforms of every unit in the game to that of what they were during and post the American Revolution. It also adds different regiments and units. Such as the one I posted. It's the Royal Deux Ponts Grendadier Bataillon. It's a historically correct uniform for the grenadier battalion. However, if you guys say that is not the correct uniform, then that's something to bring up with the mod team. A page ago I linked the Royal Deux Ponts line uniform. If that's the correct version, then add it. This isn't a thread for an ETW mod, rather a n American Revolution mod for NW. Lets keep it that way, and not get into ETW?

That's utter bullshit. The French had always been present, supplying muskets, artillery, uniforms and investing a shitload in privateers to harass the shipping lanes. Well there will be Native Americans probably using bows.

I hope they get some axes, and other melee weapons as well? Otherwise that class would be weak on every front, range+melee

It's sad to forget the decisive French intervention in the war because of a date, not only with 15 000 men, but with warships, muskets, artillery etc... Many private ships were sent from France before the official declaration of war. Lafayette sent his first ship in 1776 with 30 men, 2 canons and 6000 muskets and worked a lot to sign an alliance between the Royaume de France and the American revolutionnaries.

It is most likely because the old 1776 mod used retextured OSP Seven Years War mod uniforms, but I think it is fine for a first release.
I am seriously happy to see the old 1776 mod content go somewhere for once with the potential found finally.

I could find and research every 1776 mod attempt to use the same content but the list would probably be long of demotivation by many links to mod threads and I do not want that for this expected mod :)

Its not that badly textured. I improved the textures alot, compared to the original textures.
But it might be wrong normal maps.

But got a close up screenshot for you.. without that noise effect ;)

Fantastic work, I am dead excited for this!

Just a little heads up, although I'm sure it's just a placeholder, these men seem to me to be using percussion cap muskets which, of course, were not invented at the time.

All the same, I am very impressed and am looking forward to this a lot!

Is this basically going to be a N&S reskin or are you going to bring something new to the game?

New content of course, like 2 factions per team. It didnt make it into the NaS 1.0 release, but its a good feature for this now. Like US and France vs. Britain and Hessians. All as full functional factions.

The other features of NaS should get used too of course, like 2 flag bearers, NCOs in commander battles and such.

Beside that.. NaS would offer everything you need for a successfull mod. Did you play 1.0 yet? Not much needed beside the current features :)

Or you have any suggestions?!

yea i tried 1.0 but i get some low fps (prolly cuz im running it on a toaster :D) but that aside it looks good and gj with adding flag bearers and such in commander battles, how about some new gamemodes or game mechanics?, i dont even know myself, something that when i see it i yell "hell yea i wanna try that, never did it on a WB mod"
anyways i think im the only one who pays attention to muskets pistols and such when playing cuz the ones from nw are like meh (no one ever made a mod for those and im bad at modelling, oh also pistols are missing vertex animations), those in N&S are kinda lq and have no vertex anim for the lock and remind of 1860s old america and those sp mods i used to play, are those from those mods or just me?
oh and marks im expecting top notch muskets from you aight?

It was common for line infantry to be issued gaiters which gives the illusion of calf boots.

Those guys who know "The Deluge" mod, will know the "2 factions per team" feature.
Since the US and the British had different allies in the war, its a good option to include that feature too!

A simple click on the "Allies" text will open the troop selection of that allied faction. So 4 factions to choose in ONE battle! :)

I don't know, why they didn't add that great feature in vanilla NW.. :)
