If we're talking most influential I think we'd have to agree that fire/cooking would be it.
We wouldn't be intelligent enough for anything else that we've accomplished without it.
Gunpowder is just another way of killing people, but we've managed that for thousands of years without it.

The internet, it allows us to communicate with people who are at the other side of the world, play games and record messages, among many other things.
