Days of War | WWII FPS | Jan. 26th
« on: March 05, 2016, 01:40:18 pm »
Days of War is a spiritual successor to old WW2 shooters. Primarily taking from and using the same maps, class system and weapons from Day of Defeat 1.3 and Day of Defeat: Source. Valve has decided not to continue this franchise to focus on its money makers like Counter Strike and DOTA. The competitive community has since died for this game but the public servers are still active. So, hopefully after over a decade this amazing game gets a proper sequel

The game is currently in Early AccessHERE

Wot bout this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bulkheadinteractive/battalion-1944-pc-xb1-ps4

I saw that.. looks kinda wonky but i might try it out when it comes out. I'm just really behind this game because I used to play CAL in DoD and just really miss the whole scene

For a second I thought Battalion 1944 was renamed Days of War.

Might give it a try. Quite liked the trailer. Nice use of slow mo at start and Edith Piaf's je ne regrette rien, even if the song was from the 50's.
Reminds me of Inception as they used the track as well along with slow mo scenes etc iirc.

Never got to play Day of defeat source (would have but RO2 came along). Are there still servers up for it?

There are plenty of active DoD servers still around. Rutger and I play on them from time to time. Most of the player base is full older adults, so if you swear in voice chat, you get banned. Be careful of that.

Probably my favorite game of all time, I saw recently that they reduced the movement speed in DoW so im starting to feel a little iffy about this. Beginning to think that they're trying for something else here
