dude i got that lmao, i was saying that neither personal score nor how hard a player won/lost is reflective of said player's individual performance so i dont see why mmr would be based on those. So many times ppl topscore while getting completely carried by their team
e.g LeFaisan
If you're a good teamplayer then you'll win more matches than bad teamplayers, so your mmr will be higher than them based on that.
I'm not sure what other metric could be factored into deciding mmr gain/loss. I think the most recent formula factors in the amount of damage you deal but I'm not certain about that. There's really nothing other than damage, kills, deaths and the match score that can be used to decide how much you gain or lose.
idk how NWs code is structured but for ex. there should probably be a way to implement a first-picks count (
i mean the very fact that dying for the first time ingame is associated with the number "1" appearing on the scoreboard suggests that the game might be aware to some extent of the concept of dying first so there must be some line of code somewhere that can be utilized? the hard part would be to somehow merge it with the concept of rounds) which is already a much better indicator than scores, but it would both require work and still be hardly reflective of a player's performance since:
-it is a single aspect of the game
-that aspect is also one of the most likely to involve luck factors
on the contrary i think there are many other factors of one's performance that can be used to the extent practicable - first picks, 1v2-or-more clutch, fixing different values for each depending on circumstances (both have higher value in say a 14-14 matchpoint than at 0-0), the teammates' mmr, the opposing team's mmr, ect -, and thats precisely why there shouldnt be any mmr gain/loss modifiers
it would take way too much work to even begin to make it fair or accurate and all of the aforementionned is just off the top of my head. Imo what little we're planning on doing now does more harm than good so we might aswell implement no mmr modifiers at all
