The History of the Regiment
The regiment was by Order of the Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of 20 Established in December 1655 by Boguslaw of Schwerin in Pomerania and the Neumark and first used at the Battle of Warsaw (1656). The quarters of the regiment were to 1657 (catch castle and Gerdauen) in East Prussia. The unit fought for the Electorate of Brandenburg in the war against France and Sweden. As part of the Imperial Army of the Federation fought at Zenta in 1697 and took a Prussian army in the Spanish and Polish Association of Success War, the First and Second Silesian War and the Seven Years' War in part.
While participating in the Napoleonic Wars, the unit was in their first name East Prussian Grenadier Regiment No. 1 "crown prince" renamed. After the battles of the Napoleonic Wars (including as part of the Grande Armée) was the regiment in 1849 and 1855 to Danzig to Königsberg in the defense barracks Crown Prince (where it remained) installed. 1866 they took in the war against Austria 1870/1871 against France in part. In memory of the former chief, the regiment received on 21 June 1888 the name "Grenadier Regiment King Frederick III. (1st East Prussian) No. 1 On 6 May 1900 it was awarded the epithet old Crown Prince again. This Wilhelm II wrote in his order:
"I want
the Grenadier Regiment of King Frederick III.(1st East Prussian.) No one at the present day that I my son had asked the Crown Prince Imperial and Royal Highness, à la suite of the regiment, to run in the wars of 1866 and 1870/71 award names "

On 6 May 1904 was Crown Prince Wilhelm of Prussia à la suite of the regiment asked after his 18th Age had ended.
For the battles of the First World War, see the first Division, was also assigned to the regiment. After the war, the regiment was from 4 Demobilized in December 1918 in Königsberg and 1 Finally dissolved in June 1919.
