12th Artillery Regiment (GA)
What was the 12th Light Artillery Battalion?Command by Lt. Col. Henry D. Capers and Major George M. Hanvey, the 12th Artillery Regiment is based on the 12th Light Artillery Battalion. It was a Georgian artillery unit during the Civil War. It was formed in May, 1862, from the 1st Georgia Volunteer Regiment. Its men were pulled from the towns of Newnan, Augusta, Sandersville, and Atlanta to form the battalion. The 12th entered action in June and would make their way to Fort McAllister, Fort Sumter, and BCoF's own Battery Wagner. In May, 1864, the 12th was transferred to Gen. C.A. Evans' Brigade in the Army of Northern Virgina. The 12th would serve in the battles of Cold Harbor (as infantry), Shenandoah Valley Campaign (under Lt. Gen. Jubal Early), and in the Appomattox Campaign. The 12th would surrender itself at the end of the war, totaling 6 officers and 125 enlisted men.
Today, the 12th is an up-and-coming artillery unit, dedicated to the CSA as were its historical counterparts, made to bring the community together for the joy of raining down lead across the battlefield. The 12th is in no way a 'professional' unit. We're open to a slight bit of tomfoolery if you so wish and are brand new, lacking unit icons and history (as of posting the 12th has no previous game history).
This unit is not Georgian only! To officially join, simply contact me via this forum or on the regiment's Discord:
