Who Are We?
We are a new regiment that will be focused on line infantry and artillery gameplay within events. We plan to partake in at least one event per week, and hopefully more when we reach a large enough size. Furthermore, we also plan to compete against other regiments in commander battle tournaments. We will expect decent discipline during line events, but our main focus is on making the game and our community enjoyable. Along with Battle Cry of Freedom, we also enjoy games such as Squad, Arma, and Napoleon Total War.

Regimental History
The 1st Maryland (Confederate) was mustered into service on the 19th of April, 1861 at Harpers Ferry. It would be designated as the 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment shortly after the Battle of Manassas and would be made up of nine companies and be placed under the command of Colonel Arnold Elzey, a West Point graduate and Maryland native from the class of 1848. The regiment's first taste of combat would come at the First Battle of Manassas where it would gallantly. Then in 1862 it would prove to be vital during Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign, serving at Front Royal, Winchester, and Cross Keys. At the Battle of Front Royal, the 1st Maryland (Confederate) would meet and overrun the 1st Maryland (Union), capturing many in the process. But it's commander, Elzey, would be wounded and replaced by the ineffective George Steaurt who would subsequently be wounded at Cross Keys and replaced by Bradley T. Johnson. The regiment would further take part in the battles of Gaines' Mill and Malvern hill and be mustered out of service at Richmond on August 17th, 1862 at the end of the regiment's first terms of service.

Despite being mustered out of service, many of the men of the 1st Maryland would reenlist as part of the new 1st Maryland Infantry Battalion but eventually come to be known as the 2nd Maryland Infantry Regiment. The Marylanders would serve at the Second Battle of Winchester and the Battle of Gettysburg. At Gettysburg the battalion was under the command of Lieutenant Colonel James Herbert and took part in heavy fighting at Culp's Hill. Bringing only 400 men to the battle, they would take 48% causalities. Of which, 56 were killed, 118 wounded, and 15 captured. A monument to the battalion now stands at Culp's Hill. They would be officially renamed the 2nd Maryland Infantry on October 22, 1863.

The battalion only mustered 325 men at the start of 1864. The 2nd Maryland was vital at the Battle of Cold Harbor. While in reserve, they spontaneously counterassaulted a Federal force in order to retake captured trenches, being praised by General Lee for having saved Richmond while only while only taking a handful of casualties. In 1865 they further took part in the battles of Hatcher's Run and Fort Gregg.

Portions of the regiment would surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9th, 1865. Only 59 men under Captain Torsch would surrender. The largest company, Company A, only numbered 12 men at the time.
