Aren't the dragoons the Tankers now?

Side note: I think it's cool the british army kept the names of (some) cavalry units.
In the Netherlands, we also still have 3 Hussar regiments.
The scout-units are still the hussars and is still called Cavalry (light cav) and the tanks were part of the cavalry, too (Heavy cav), distinguished by their black barets.

The dragoons aren't tankers anymore, they used to use the Scimitar vehicle, but switched in the last two years, for Army 2020 plan, to Jackal Mk2s. Which I can't wait to be trained on.

So they're motorised infantry now?
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

They're Forward Recce, and fight dismounted 50% of the time. Boy, I can't wait to join them.

Very nice. I hope to get an FO or JTTAC position myself after my first position. You cannot directly apply for JTAC/FO in the Dutch army, so I will have to do two or three years as platoon commander first.

Yeah at first you get FO/Naval Gun Fire Liason and then you can later get certified as JTAC.

I like to watch things go boom :)

Just got a Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship to some schools. The US government pays for my full tuition in exchange for my serving as an officer for four years after college.

Also still waiting to hear back from the US Military Academy. I have congressional nominations and all the right qualifications, but nothing is ever certain with service academies.

Regardless I'll undergo light military training in college and join as an officer after I get a degree.

What you want to do? Branch/posotion (I think you call it MOS in the US?)?

I'm not exactly sure yet. I've read quite a bit and spoken to some officers. The officer that guided me through the whole process was a lietenant colonel in the Field Artillery, which is the one I'm leaning towards right now.

And still Americans wonder why the Middle East hates them. =|
If you joke or brag about how many you have killed, there must be something extremely wrong with you.

I'm am about to graduate from 68W (Combat Medic Specialist) AIT in about 3-4 weeks. Going into the field for a 2 week FTX at Camp Bullis where we pretty much train battle drills and train TC3 (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) all day everyday. I also just received my promotion to E-2 PV2 and I expect to be a E-3 Private First Class in about 6 months.

Found out my duty station a while back which will be the 82nd Airborne Division that is stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.  ;D
