Marines assault course is fucking gnarly. Done it twice for charity. Don't do it lol. Macca, if you're interested there is a 24 hour like 50 mile hike for charity for the sweet old army near us

There is no way in hell I'm joining the RMC. Fusiliers/Anglians will do me nicely. And when this 24 hr hike? Link up and let's do it lmao.

Na Anglians are good. If you actually have a qualification go for Engineers though, or REME.. Can't believe I have just recommended REME to someone - anyway moving on. They're both good for post-Army employment. If you've just basic qualifications you'll be a grunt for quite some time. My friend has been a Royal Anglian for like 5-6 years and is now a LCpl, mainly because he only has GCSE's. So don't waste a qualification if you have. And I'll fb you it if it pops up again, I can't remember the name though.

I know they are mate. My first choice on the application was Royal Regt of Fusiliers with Royal Anglians and Royal Logistics Corps as second and third choices. My GCSE's aren't bad at all, C's and above which as far as I'm concerned is good. I was looking into both REME and the Engineers though but settled with infantry and logistics. If being a front line soldier goes to shit then there's always Logistical Supply Specialist with the RLC as my back up.

Yeah and if need be you can easily switch caps from infantry, and that could help with promos if you switch to a less combat oriented reg. I was in REME C Coy for cadets lol. You can go para signals @ Colchester, that is very good (get ur wings, close to home), and can go special forces from there too. (Not that you would, fucking road man)

Yea.. they go through same MEPS process and their boot camp is in beautiful Cape May... New Jersey.  Also their basic training is like a few weeks shorter than the Army's  :D

Bundeswehr > British Army

A friend who is NCO ran 10.000m together with me. I died. He laughed.

Spoiler
I am waiting for your disapproval.

Bundeswehr > British Army

banter
FDF > Bundeswehr

Our planes, tanks and other equipment work.

[/Banter]Honestly, this forever happening "A is better than B" contesting between military units, branches and nations is always useless as they are prepared against different tasks or threats.

On the most serious side: Just interested, sorry for being part of the topic hijacking here.

How long is the usual reserve age in the UK and will they get called in for additional service later on? Or are they like our Local Defence Troops so they are just kind of voluntary militia?

Too lazy to google around and would be fun to hear personal experiences.

Here we're conscripted at age of 18 and usually serve from age of 19-20 and most get at-least 6 months of branch and basic training (can be up to 12 months in some tasks + NCO and Ofc. Cadet tasks). After they have been trained they might be called for refreshing training until age of 50 (or something near that) when they are removed from reserves. That usually happens much earlier though because we have steady amount of new personnel.
