The 3rd Kentucky Infantry *Recruiting*

The 3rd Kentucky infantry is led by Colonel Musickman who is from Kentucky at age 27 (Really awarded the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels). We are part of the Dixieland Army Community. This regiment was formed August 13th, 2014 and currently has 50 members.

History
The 3rd Kentucky Infantry was organized in July 1861, at Camp Boone in Montgomery County, Tennessee, under the command of Colonel Lloyd Tilghman.By 1864, the regiment's strength was severely depleted. The 3rd Kentucky Infantry was ordered to report to General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Horses were unavailable, so the men followed Forrest on foot. The Kentucky troops that accompanied Forrest were divided into four brigades. The 3rd Kentucky Infantry was in the third brigade with the 7th Kentucky Infantry, and 8th Kentucky Infantry, commanded by Colonel A. P. Thompson. On March 15, 1864 Forrest moved north toward Paducah, Kentucky. Three miles from Paducah they encountered Union pickets and pushed them back to their camp on the outskirts of town. Under fire from a nearby fort, the Kentuckians moved through the streets of Paducah. The fort was discovered to be impenetrable, and a retreat was ordered. Colonel Thompson was killed by cannon fire while leading his troops. Forrest soon returned to Mississippi where the regiment was engaged at the Battle of Brice's Crossroads. At some point in the campaign to Kentucky, the regiment was mounted, becoming the 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry. The 3rd was originally part of the Orphan Brigade, we take their flag in game.

Our Motto
"Regarding the leaders of the 3rd Kentucky Infantry Regiment - On Officers: Your 3rd KY officers are dedicated to the "Soldier First" ideology; that their troops are entitled to the very best in professional, tactical, and mature leadership. On NCOs: The 3rd KY maintain their priorities of accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of their Soldiers. We are a professional, organized, active, and international unit. Our schedule is fairly active and we expect participation - however, we realize life comes first! The 3rd KY takes care of its troops through superior performance recognition and promotions for deserving Soldiers. We are a tight knit family and a disciplined fighting unit. Again, welcome and Huzzah!" -Staff Sergeant Buffalo Bob

3rd Marine Battallion

Regimental History

3rd Battalion 3rd Marines, abbreviated as (3/3), is an infantry battalion of the United States Marine Corps, based out of Kāne'ohe, Hawai'i. Known as either "Trinity" or "America's Battalion", the unit falls under the command of the 3rd Marine Regiment of the 3rd Marine Division.[1] The unit consists of approximately 800 U.S. Marines and United States Navy sailors.[nb 1] Like most battalions of the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines is made up of three rifle companies (India, Kilo, and Lima), a Headquarters and Services (H&S) company, and a weapons company. The battalion was originally formed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 1942 and saw action on both Bougainville and Guam during World War II, where it was awarded the first of its Presidential Unit Citations for "gallantry, determination, and esprit de corps in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions"; and the first of its Navy Unit Commendations for "outstanding service". Marines in the battalion were also awarded one Medal of Honor and seven Navy Crosses during the war. Following World War II, 3rd Battalion was disbanded until 1951, when it was reformed in California. The battalion was alerted for possible deployment during the 1956 Suez War and the 1958 intervention in Lebanon. In 1965, the Marines of 3rd Battalion were deployed to the Vietnam War and participated in Operation Starlite, the first major Marine engagement of that conflict. The battalion continued to see major action through Vietnam and was rotated back to the United States in 1969. Alumni from its time in Vietnam include Corporal Robert O'Malley the first Marine in Vietnam to be awarded the Medal of Honor, Oliver North, and John Ripley. Around the end of the Vietnam War, 3rd Battalion was deactivated for a second time in 1974.

In 1975, 3rd Battalion was reformed for the third (and last) time at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. During this period, the battalion conducted numerous deployments in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In 1983, 3rd Battalion deployed off the coast of Lebanon for several weeks during a particularly tense period in the civil war. During the 1980s, the battalion was briefly commanded by Charles Krulak, later the 31st Commandant of the Marine Corps, who nicknamed 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines "America's Battalion" because it was similar to the nickname used by the Dallas Cowboys. 3rd Battalion deployed again in 1990 as part of Operation Desert Shield and saw action at the Battle of Khafji and again during the liberation of Kuwait. In the early 21st century the battalion deployed overseas six times as part of the Global War on Terror: three times for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and three times for Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.[2] One Marine from the battalion, Dakota Meyer, was awarded the Medal of Honor during the Global War on Terror.

Hi there, I'm very new to the game and looking for a regiment participating in Bragg's Friday/Sunday Line Battle events (and similar) regularely, willing to let me join. Ideally, I'd love to tag along this weekend already to find out if my system can cope with big battles. At the moment, I'm still practicing the basics of the game with some success, yet I'm very eager to get into some serious line/formation fighting, being a bit of a ACW enthusiast.

I'm german, but fluent in english, and very flexible on weekends (despite the GMT+1 time zone). Will gladly install Teamspeak, got a mic.

Steam gamertag: steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198104046053 (Currently playing N&S via non steam version though because I had issues to get NW to run under steam). Thank you and cheers!
