Is it possible to code where the pistols/swords etc sit/stay on the player/soldier so you can still play on nw servers?

You don't need a coder to answer this question. But yes. You can amend the position in the roto/translate/rescale menu from OpenBRF without being kicked from any server. Of course, you'll be the only one seeing this change.
