Battle of Toulouse Bicentenary event,10th April. [EU]
« on: March 14, 2014, 10:47:04 pm »

1814. Wellington and his allies have thrown the French out of the Peninsula and across the Nive! With Bordeaux surrendered and Bayonne under siege just one stronghold in Southern France holds out in the name of Napoleon, Toulouse! Soult has but 42,000 troops, tired veterans and boys who have known nothing but defeat! Wellington on the other hand has 49,000 tough and tested soldiers, a mix of British, Portuguese and Spanish. Morale is high and in their minds they cannot fail!
Historically this final battle of the Peninsular war was a draw, the French held Toulouse but the British gained the Heights of Calvinet from which artillery can dominate the city! It was a bloody day with 3200 French soldiers killed or wounded and 400 Allied soldiers dead and another 4000 injured! Will you as the French manage to hold Toulouse and the Calvinet Heights, ending the Napoleonic Wars with a victory of France regardless of the goings on in the North? Or will the British grasp the Calvinet heights and Toulouse in a decisive victory!

This event shall take place in the form of a conquest, but due to it's historical setting shall follow quite different rules.
-The French shall only be allowed to respawn in the city of Toulouse but may choose their initial spawn as the Calvinet heights. The British however shall only be allowed to respawn at their camp.
-The victor shall not be decided by ingame score points but by what each team holds at the end. If the French hold Toulouse & the Calvinet heights then it shall be considered a victory. If they hold only Toulouse then it shall be considered indecisive, if they hold only the Heights then it shall be considered a defeat. For the British to secure an outright victory they must hold Toulouse, to secure a decisive victory they must hold Toulouse and the Calvinet Heights or the Southern Bridge, Soult's only route of retreat.
-Unit sizes are quite standard. Only line units of 20 men upwards shall be accepted.
Cavalry units must have between 10 and 16 men. A single regiment shall be allowed per team.
Light Infantry/Skirm units must have between 10 and 16 men. Britain shall be allowed a skirmisher and a Light Infantry unit, France only one.
Britain shall be allowed one artillery unit, enough to field 2 cannons/howitzers totalling 6 men with no guard allowed. France however in it's position of strength on the Heights shall be allowed enough men to use 4 artillery pieces but may not spawn any having to rely on those already within Toulouse and on the heights totalling 8 men.
-Artillery may not fire into an opposing teams spawn.

Due to a reply being awaited from a certain notable large line regiment I won't be able to accept any line units until the end of tomorrow at the earliest.

Accepted, glad to have you. I've heard good things.

@CrumpetAreAwesome
Due to wanting to keep the attending regiments as professional as possible I would like to see some form of reference regarding your regiment. I need to ensure no regiments prone to trolling are in attendance, no offense.

Why'd you copy my idea :-\

You accuse me of copying? You attempt to host a apparently historical event which as the other historical events will rarely resemble an actual historical battle. This is a one off historical event with a map and ruleset being made specifically for it. So please, away with you vile beggar!

Please, i did one before both of you and i took the time to check historical orders of battles, scaled each combat arm to the correct percentage and had a custom map with battle specific rules.

Ya cant copy anyone since everyone has done it before

Accepted for 20 line and not a single man more. You should nicely complete the French team, if the large regiment doesn't wish to attend as I will find out later today, I can switch you to the UK.
