I won't be far behind ya Macca bae. I'm looking to gain a commission into the RMC
Bravescot the Royal Marine Officer, ayy

Marines assault course is fucking gnarly. Done it twice for charity. Don't do it lol. Macca, if you're interested there is a 24 hour like 50 mile hike for charity for the sweet old army near us
There is no way in hell I'm joining the RMC. Fusiliers/Anglians will do me nicely. And when this 24 hr hike? Link up and let's do it lmao.

Na Anglians are good. If you actually have a qualification go for Engineers though, or REME.. Can't believe I have just recommended REME to someone - anyway moving on. They're both good for post-Army employment. If you've just basic qualifications you'll be a grunt for quite some time. My friend has been a Royal Anglian for like 5-6 years and is now a LCpl, mainly because he only has GCSE's. So don't waste a qualification if you have. And I'll fb you it if it pops up again, I can't remember the name though.
I know they are mate. My first choice on the application was Royal Regt of Fusiliers with Royal Anglians and Royal Logistics Corps as second and third choices. My GCSE's aren't bad at all, C's and above which as far as I'm concerned is good. I was looking into both REME and the Engineers though but settled with infantry and logistics. If being a front line soldier goes to shit then there's always Logistical Supply Specialist with the RLC as my back up.

My dad.

I had my place at Harrogate for a long time before dropping out, my step brother, uncle, grandfather and great grand father have all served though.

I was junior entry for Royal Anglians (My Uncle/Step brother are in it currently). And Grandfather/Great grandfather both Royal Welsh.

Come for a run in Ippy sometime instead of all those parties ay;) Saying that, if you need a good running club there is one in Martlesham, it is by the gym.

I don't plan on joining anymore though. I have a few mates at Harrogate atm if you want me to ask them anything drop me a Facebook message.
Will do mate, expect one soon.

And Karth, training time all depends on what you're wanting to join. If you're a junior entry wanting to go into the infantry, Royal Armoured Corps/Household Cavalry, Royal Artillery and some Royal Logistics Corps roles then Phase 1 training is 49 weeks where as roles such as the Royal Army Medical Corps, Signals, Engineers etc their phase 1 is only 23 weeks but has a longer Phase 2 training.

So yeah, it's all down to what you want to join really. Providing I 100% get a placed at Harrogate in September then my training will be 49 weeks as I've applied for the infantry.

39
I'm assuming you mean regulars rather than reserves?
No no, reserves too. They go through the same training and so on after all.

Afternoon gents.

If you haven't served in the British Army or any other armed forces then you may as well not bother reading the rest as this is directed for any chaps who have been or are in the British Army but yeah.

If anyone around this shithole has served or whatever, do drop a comment. I'm interested to see what regiments / corps you served with and where you did your Phase 1 training.

Oh, and if you attended AFC Harrogate as a Junior Applicant (16-17) then let me know. Heading there in September. Anyone who's served in the armed forces of any other country feel free to drop a comment.

Yeah, in the JROTC which is essentially cadets. Not exactly in the real Navy are you? Nah, didn't think so.

Spoiler
Hey do you think you can make some Royal Marine rank icons if you still do this?

I am not sure how the historical ranks are but currently our regiment 8th Royal Marines uses MODERN day USMC ranks as that is all we can find icons for, Much appreciated if you do!

MODERN RM RANKS:
Mne (Marine)

LCpl (Lance Corporal)

Cpl (Corporal)

Sgt (Sergeant)

CSgt (Colour Sergeant)

WO2 (Warrant Officer 2)

WO1 (Warrant Officer 1)

Commissioned Ranks

2LT (Second Lieutenant)

LT (Lieutenant)

CPTN (Captain)

Maj (Major)

Lt Col (Lieutenant Colonel)

Col (Colonel)

Brig (Brigadier)

Maj Gen (Major General)

Lt Gen (Lieutenant General)

Gen (General)
[close]
I am 99% sure that the Royal Marines Commando use the exact same insignia as the regular British Army.

Take the rank icons off please. Sergei made them for my old regiment the 45th and I told Blaze not to use them.
Second of all, You just admitted to stealing off 44th.
Third, if he says someone gave them to him then why don't you just get proof off him? and go ask warlord instead of moaning.
About the icons the 44th use:

A guy called Baker who used to run his own regiment made them and gave them to me for use when I commanded the 44th. Wolfster still uses them which is cool I guess.
