1. History:
The 9th Battalion, South Carolina Infantry was organized in the summer of 1861. It is also known as Nesbit's Battalion South Carolina Infantry, Smith's Battalion South Carolina Volunteers, Captain Grainger's Company South Carolina Volunteers, the Hory Battalion, and the Pee Dee Legion or Pee Dee Rifles. There were 7 companies. In September 1862 the 9th Battalion Intantry was merged with the 6th (Byrd's) Battalion South Carolina Infantry to form the 26th Regiment South Carolina Infantry.

2. Misison Statement
The 9th South Carolina Pee Dee Legion’s mission is to collect and train for the entertainment of its members, and to the memory and honour of the forebears whom bore its name before our time.

Unit History:
The Edgefield Hussars were raised as a part of Hampton’s Legion, a brigade with multiple branches of arms. They were raised from Edgefield County, South Carolina. It had roots in militia raised in South Carolina in 1833, by Andrew Pickens Butler. It was formed into Edgefield Squadron in 1851, and it fought beside the Hampton Legion in multiple battles across the East Coast Theater. It was commanded by Captain Matthew Calbraith Butler through the war.

Trainee [Tne]

The Trainee is a cavalryman who has recieved training in how to ride the horse, and now rides into battle to experience battle, and to earn glory, and promotions.

Trooper[Tpr]

The Trooper is the basic rank. He is the basic backbone of the Cavalry Unit. He rides in the ranks along with the others. Unlike the Trainee, this rider must distinguish himself.

Prime Trooper[PTpr]

The Prime Trooper is a trooper who has shown his strength. He is a trooper who has done the best he can to show he deserves to move up. Is beginning to be noted by the command with greater respect.

Vanguard[Vgd]

This is a trooper who has shown extreme prowess in combat. From here he chooses one of two branches: Dragoons or Hussars.

Specialized Branches

Hussars

Light Hussar[LHus]

The first rank of being inducted into the Hussars, the special riders of the cavalry, the fastest and deadliest melee riders, who skid by the enemy, picking them off one by one.

Medium Hussar[MHus]

The more daring of the Hussars, Light Hussars who have proven their capabilities, and are trusted with occasional leadership of the Hussars. Experienced troopers.



Heavy Hussar[HHus]

The most experienced riders, masters at destroying infantry formations, and deadly weapons innate of themselves. Often trusted as Third-In-Command, and in serious consideration for NCO training.

Dragoons

Light Dragoon[LDgn]

A new inductee into the Dragoons. Beginning to be trained in the ways of the long-range skirmishers who strike and ride off before the enemy can reply effectively.

Medium Dragoon[MDgn]

A rather experienced dragoon who has learned a few of the ins and outs of skirmishing with the enemy. He has a little more trust than the inductees.

Heavy Dragoon[HDgn]

The most experienced skirmisher in the dragoons. He can shoot well, whether riding or still. They are trusted as 3rd in command and are in serious consideration for NCO training.



NCO: Non Commissioned Officers.

Lance Corporals[LCpl]

 NCO’s in training. They are recieving the ins-and-outs on how to lead the cavalrymen. Usually selected from Heavy Hussars or Heavy Dragoons.

Corporals[Cpl]

Full NCO’s. They have light duties, such as helping keep discipline, trainings, and leading recruitment.

Sergeants[Sgt]

Medium NCO’s. They have the full duties of an NCO, and full responsibility. At this point, the soldier is evaluated to see if they are fit for leading a branch.

Staff Sergeants[SSgt]

The last NCO rank. At this point, they are 2nd in command of a branch, either Hussars or Dragoons. They are also heavily responsible for keeping order in the ranks.

Ensign[Egn]
The first CO rank. A CO in training, being groomed for command of a branch as a Lieutenant.

Lieutenant[Lt]

The last rank that commands a branch directly. They are first in command of either Hussars or Dragoons.


Captain[Cpt]
 
2nd in command of the regiment. He carries out full CO duties, such as writing reports, helping to organize regimental events, and ensuring the morale of the regiment is not broken.

Colonel[Col]

Fully in command of all aspects of the regiment. He and the Captain personally command the Troopers and the Trainees, while the dragoons and hussars act as seperate units. Fully in charge of organizing and ensuring morale does not break.

14e Bavarian Grenadiers



Mission Statement:
Our regiment will be dedicated to continuing on the memory of the Bavarians in the service of Napoleon Bonaparte. We will maintain proper regimentation and the professionalism in the dedication of the men who served Bavaria. However, we will also ensure that the members of the community that join will be welcomed as members, not just as cogs in a machine. We will ensure that the regimental members will be entertained, and also keep properly the memory of poland, and if any of them find issue with the leadership of the regiment, or its policy, they will be granted proper voice.

1790 brought a fundamental reform of the Bavarian army. All field troops received an identically-cut uniform, including a leather helmet with a horsehair plume, known as the "Rumford Casket" after the then minister for war Count Rumford. However, Maximilian IV found the army in abject condition on his accession to the throne in 1799: hardly any of the units were at full strength, the Rumford uniforms were unpopular and impractical, and the troops were badly-trained. The young Prince-Elector, who had served under the Ancien Régime in France as a colonel in the Royal Deux-Ponts regiment, made the reconstruction of the army a priority. The line infantry was reduced to ten regiments, which were made up to their full strength. The two Jäger regiments were divided into four light infantry battalions. The cavalry consisted of three regiments of light cavalry and two each of dragoons and cuirassiers. The infantry returned to their traditional light blue and, in 1801, all branches of service introduced the Raupenhelm, a helmet with a fore-and-aft horsehair plume, which became characteristic of the Bavarian army. Capable generals, such as Deroy, Wrede and Triva, reformed the army along French lines, and it soon became the most modern in Germany, and the first in Germany to abolish flogging. The field army was based largely on compulsory military service. A national guard with three classes was also developed (1st class: Reserve battalions of the Line regiments; 2nd class: Territorial army; 3rd class: Citizen levy).

In 1800, Bavaria reluctantly fought on Austria's side against France, but in 1805 when Austria attacked Bavaria for the third time in 100 years, they found a powerful army. The Bavarians initially retreated, but only in order to link up with Napoleon's advancing army and to prepare the counter-attack, which took place quickly, methodically and thoroughly. 30,000 Bavarian troops took part in the successful Siege of Ulm and the consequent liberation of Bavaria. At the Battle of Austerlitz, the Bavarians secured the flanks and supply lines of Napoleon's army and in 1806-7 they forced several Prussian forts to surrender.

Bavaria was awarded the Austrian province of Tyrol as a reward, but unrest erupted into a full-blown rebellion under Andreas Hofer in 1809, which could only be put down with French assistance. When Austria attacked Bavaria once more in 1809, Napoleon's army was concentrated in Spain, and it was troops of the Confederation of the Rhine, predominantly Bavarian, which led the early campaigning against Austria. At the Battle of Wagram, the contribution of Bavarian forces was decisive to the outcome.

In the Russian Campaign, the Bavarian army suffered terrible losses - of about 33,000 men (including following reinforcements) who marched in 1812, only 4,000 returned. Pressed by the Crown Prince and General Wrede, King Maximilan I Josef turned with a heavy heart away from the French and changed to the Allied camp shortly before the Battle of Leipzig. The attempt by Wrede to stop the victory of the Grande Armée in 1813 at the Battle of Hanau ended in a narrow defeat for his Austro-Bavarian corps. The campaign of 1814 began badly for the Allies, but Wrede made up for his earlier defeat with valuable victories over his former allies at the battles of Arcis-sur-Aube and Bar-sur-Aube.

In 1814, the Bavarian army consisted of a Grenadier Guard regiment, 16 regiments of Line Infantry, two battalions of Jäger, seven regiments of light cavalry (of which one was territorial), one regiment of Uhlans, two Hussar regiments, one regiment of Garde du Corps (mounted royal bodyguard), two regiments of foot artillery and one of horse-artillery.
