The European Groupfighting Tournament is intended to be a series of several tournaments hosted to provide the community with both a competitive, qualitative but more importantly impartial environment. We will put a special effort into being as transparent as possible to make sure our players get the best experience possible. The European Groupfighting Tournament is not supported by the Tournament Organisational Group but we will try our best to respect their schedules within the realm of possibility, as we feel it is in the best interest of the community. Because we aim at developing certain standards in the events we will be hosting, we also expect the players partaking in them to show behaviours in line with our perceptions of what a good tournament is. In short, rules might be a tad stricter than usual but it's for your own good.

Roster Rules - The roster limit is fixed to 11 players, with 8 players from the main line-up and 3 substitutes.
- You don't need to specify who is part of the main line-up and who is a substitute while applying for the tournament as every player can be switched in-between rounds and matches, independently.
- Players have to be signed up with their community names. Roleplay names or others won't be accepted.
- A player can play for one team and one team only and can therefore not be included on two different team rosters for the same tournament.
- Captains are required to sign-up all their players and themselves with a unique GUID. Teams which do not provide a roster with a unique GUID for each of their members won't be accepted for this tournament
- Captains can add players up to one hour before the start of the tournament. After that, the roster will be locked and no more changes will be accepted. Match Rules
- Round 1 and 2 of the upper and lower brackets will be FT5, with round 3 of both brackets being FT7. Semi-finals are to also be played in an FT7 format. Both the Final and Grand-final (If it comes to it) are to be played in FT7 format.
- Every player has to play with the name they have been signed-up as. Variations can be allowed, as long as we can still identify who you are.
- Every player has to wear the tag of their team.
- Players which are part of the same team may not use identical in game faces.
- You may only spawn in once your team's name is called.
- You may only enter the arena if you are playing.
- Substitutes can spawn in but will be expected to obey by the rules and not disturb the on-going matches.
- Captains are expected to type 'R' or 'Ready' in the chat before every round so that the referee can type 'live'.
- Line infantry is the only class allowed.
- The bayonet is the only weapon allowed.
- Melee speed will be on medium. Behaviour Rules - Captains are to ensure their players obey by the rules.
- Players are expected to behave with certain standards and act in a respectful manner.
- No intentional teamkilling outside of the arenas.
- If you are a substitute, don't interrupt the on-going matches by jumping on the fences, running around (with flags or not), punching each other's, etc.

How to acquire your GUID
In case it's the first time you need to provide your GUID, here is a short guide to help you to get it in four quick steps:
Step 1 -> Start Napoleonic War and go on the servers list.
Step 2 -> Connect to either of these servers: Tropical_Paradise / Minisiege / Groupfighting_Server
Step 3 -> Once you have logged on either of these servers, you should receive a welcome message. Screenshot it by pressing Ft12 (it will go in your steam screenshots). If you missed it, just press L and it should appear in the logs. The welcome message should look like this:

This message will contain your GUID. Congratulations, you are now ready to join a team or sign-up as a free agent!
Warning: Your GUID is unique as it is directly linked to your warband key (Therefore if you change your warband-key, your GUID will change as well). There is absolutely no risk in sharing your GUID as it cannot be used to access your game and plenty of warband competitions have already used a GUID system (also known as ID system) to ensure they can keep track of the participants in their tournament. An admin will never ask you your actual warband serie key (which goes as follow: XXXX - XXXX - XXXX XXXX) so do not share it with anyone!
Before we open the sign-ups, I would just like to delve deeper into the standards we will expect for the participants in the EGT. We won't be nazis, the idea is to keep things enjoyable for everyone, not have a 91st type tournament where you have to ask PTS before going to the toilets (even though I personally wouldn't mind it that much). We just want to make sure that everyone comes on the server for the same reason, aka competing against other people in an organized environment. A few people from different teams have expressed (to us or other) the wish of having certain standards coming back in tournament hosting and that's what Shadey and I (with Fwuffy's help) will try to provide. We gonna work our ass off to make sure you have two enjoyable hours, we simply ask each of you to respect that and behave during that time.

A short (lol) statement on my NW activity:
A year and a half ago, I made a post announcing my departure of the community (https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=37843.msg1647389#msg1647389). Before this, I had taken two (short) breaks but I never felt the need to make a public statement about neither of them. This time appeared as a bit different in my eyes as I was somehow really convinced that it marked an end to my implication on NW, regiment and administrative wise (I knew I would never cease reading and posting on FSE, would have to take the forum down for that). I know some people knew I would be back, I always considered this a possibility even though an unlikely one but it never really bothered as I have seen people 'quitting the game' before me, and coming back within two weeks, and I never had the arrogance to think it would somehow not apply to me.
Five months ago, I helped some longtime friends hosting an event for the cavalry community (https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?board=213.0) and even more recently, I got convinced into joining the 17th by some even longer-term friends. Both of these didn't work out for several reasons (a good half of it being on myself, ngl) but at the very least, they brought back within me a bit of this fire which I had felt missing early 2018. I figured out there is no point in hiding it. I want to contribute again, no matter the way. I don't think I will find a new home as good as the 17th anytime soon so, for now, I will probably focus on other aspects of the community which I still enjoy.
I have been grateful that ever since I started to be involved again in the FSE NW activity and in-game, I have not been served the usual 'But I thought you retired?!' and other of that stuff. People probably know I am quite the susceptible type but I reckon I also always had a privileged position in this community. I am not sure to deserve of it, I have been quite inconstant with most of the stuff I have involved myself with but I am trying to work on it. For that reason, I am extremely happy that Shadey reached me to organize this tournament as I feel confident hosting an event alongside someone who possesses pretty much all the qualities a co-host could dream of.
So I guess that's sort of official now. I am actively back in the NW community (was I ever gone?). That will make some people happy, some other a bit less. No matter what, I have always considered working for this community as a privilege, not a given, and I intend to keep this mindset going forward.
Now that this is out of the way, let's start the show. Sign-ups are currently open but considering the tournament is to happen in one month, do not sign-up if you're not sure you will be able to attend in July.
As per usual, we are going to need some referees and especially some who do not partake in the tournament.

If I were you, I would just edit the above application you made and add GUIDs there next to the name as you get them. Once you got them all (or got at least 8 ), just quote your post again to make sure I don't miss it. I am going to Italy from tomorrow morning until the 20th, then going back again to ESL Pro League finals in Montpellier the weekend of the 21th. I will have my laptop with me just in case but won't be checking this all too much and given Shadey doesn't have access to the OP to edit anything, it's likely I will make a big update when I come back on the 23rd. So by any means, take your time. I am super pleased to have you guys in and I highly doubt we'll get more than 12 teams for an 8v8 tournament so you can consider your spot locked.

For the record, I think you guys understood a 'pending' is pretty much the same as an 'accepted'. I just want to see if I get around it the 'referees being players' issue, but this has obviously nothing to do with your capabilities.
As mentioned a few posts above, I will be away from home from the 11th to the 23rd of June. I will still be reachable in case of emergencies but steam is rather unstable on phone so if you have any sort of inquiries, please direct them to Shadey.
Also using that post to thank Kanade/Wüstenkrieger for providing us with scripts for the servers and a database for the GUIDs. His scripts having been used in the CCL and many other events and have proved to be working extremely well. They will make IDs checkings less of a burden for the admins among a few other stuff.

On a totally unrelated but important note, I have been told about some really fucked-up behaviours in practice matches recently so let me put this straight. I don't care about people trashtalking, insulting or being toxic monkeys because some of you simply don't know how to act differently. However, using somebody's personal information to attack him/her is a line which you should be careful about not crossing.
I'm not taking anyone's side and I don't care if it's not related directly to the EGT but the people doing that will simply see themselves removed from this tournament.

I will be away from today morning to Sunday evening which means that anything related to the tournament will now be handled by Shadey.
On another note, AK, CCCP and Sadboys won't be participating in the tournament so we have decided to change the format to double elimination instead of groups as we feel it fits the numbers of teams best and avoids making unbalanced groups. Practically speaking, it doesn't change anything as all teams will fight a minimum of two matches.
Remember to join the steam group chat, or ask for an invite as most of the important information will be sent there. Remember to also update your roster. VergeVerte still has to provide a roster with GUID. Other teams have to provide the missing GUIDs and/or add one or two members to be fully accepted within the tournament.
Please do not wait last minute to do the minimum work we require from you. See you on Sunday chaps.

Tag ConcernsMost of the team captain's should already know this, but i'm going to repeat it once more to be absolutely sure, because i can guarantee there will be problems with this tomorrow if i don't.
The tournament server will be using a GUID/TAG script which will feature the Team Tags, along with a list of GUID’s of the players signed up for that specific team. The only exception to this is Proud Boys and Animals, because they use out of the norm tags so will have separate inputs
I can’t stress enough how important it is that you make sure all your players tags are correct. By this i mean exactly the same as what is in your sign up im looking at you team Sweden. The image below shows exactly how the tags need to be written.

Tags should be written exactly like this across everyone in your team. The underscore should be followed by your community name that you are signed up with, - EDIT - this isnt a part of the script so the name that follows the underscore can be written however you wish. That doesn't mean you can use names that we don't recognize, we still need to know who you are.
You will literally not be able to join into a team once you’re on the server unless your TEAM NAME tags are correct, so to save hastle for myself and Tardet tomorrow please make sure it’s correct.
Roster deadlines are closing at 5pm BST.
Small announcement
Due to certain teams dropping out last week, we have dropped below the desired team amount of 12. Because of this, we have decided to scrap group stages and make it double elimination. It may seem like an inconvenience, however due to having an odd amount of teams, and an odd amount of 'top' tier teams, we feel that the best way to make it fair and balanced for all teams, will be to change it. It mostly plays out the same anyway, all teams will still play two matches, and of course depending on how you play will decide whether you continue to advance or not. We will update the FSE thread accordingly and add the last GUIDs and roster changes.

Edit: As the team winning the upper-bracket has to have an advantage of some sort coming in the grand-final (that's the whole purpose of playing double elimination), we'll keep it the way Shadey initially announced it. So basically, if you are coming from the lower bracket, you will have to win two Ft7 in the grand final whereas the winning team has to win one.

This comes in a bit late but I felt it was a good thing to have a conclusion message of some sort. The tournament had its share of positive and negative which I will delve in later on in that post but I'm happy I got to host it with Shadey. It was a nice way back in hosting tournaments on NW and hopefully the first of many. But first, let's congratulate the three teams which made it to the podium that Sunday evening.

1st. Proud Boys
Movement - Fwuffy - Shadey - Ledger - Marquez - Python - KORE - Rune - Jammo - Fralla - Golden
Winner winner, McDonald Dinner. Proud Boys' domination at the top continues as they pick-up their third win in as many participations. The team lead by Movement and Fwuffy is undoubtedly the hot prospect of this moment and showed once more why they had to be feared by all the other teams of the circuit. For future tournaments, they will definitely appear as the heavy favourite and the team to take down. But for now, they enjoy yet another trophy!
2nd. Plebs
Bagins - DOMI - Ivan - Obelix - Mike - Elsse - Voluble - Nero - Hypno - Stark - Steinmann
Plebs was another serious title contender this European Groupfighting Tournament and it's no surprise to see them reaching the podium for this edition. Their road throughout the brackets was a bit scrappy at times, but Bagins and his men showed-up when required and gave their grand final opponent a ran for their money. The rivalry between these two seems now clearly established and there is no doubt that Plebs, now re-branded as Poosy, will be aiming at taking that number one spot out of PB's hands as soon as possible. Congratulations on your silver medals chaps.
3rd. Cazadores
Tigere - Heinrich - Bunter_Igel - Gerher - Wolpi - Rikkert - Anubis - Tiberias - Troister - Higen - Tommy
With a new line-up composed of French and British reinforcements, Cazadores had some questions marks above their heads coming in this tournament. They answered most of them as they secured a well deserved third place but their faith could have been sailed way earlier in the competition as they fell down earlier than expected in the lower bracket. However, tough situations also often reveal the true quality of your squad and far from sinking, Cazadores took things back under control as they made their way back through the lower bracket. There goes our bronze team, well played!
Also a big thank you to all the teams which attended this edition of the EGT and contributed to making it successful. I was especially impressed by Animals' performance and will be looking at what they can do for future competitions. Extremely pleased that the KGL was able to gather a team as well as seeing the debuts of Giant Killers and Sith Lords. And thankful for our usual suspects CCCP, TBE, Kamikaze and VergeVerte (Infame) coming back for yet another tournament.
Can't help but mention that this tournament wouldn't have been possible without Shadey. He was the one who brought me back into hosting and due to my busy schedules close to the tournament's start, did most of the work, graphics, paid the servers and did set them up, did the updates and talks with teams in order to make sure this event was as successful as possible. His qualities as a host are second to none and I am happy that our community can count on such an asset to provide professional and fair competitions in the future.
Big thank to Fwuffy who also did a lot of the work behind the scene, helping us in different areas such as the ruleset and also advising Shadey when I was away. Always glad to be able counting on someone of your stature.
Last but not least, thanks to our referee's team which showed-up (mostly on short notice) and contributed to making this tournament possible. Godfreid, Lone, BlackBeard and Bobertini, you guys rock.
As for the tournament itself, there are obvious improvements which we'll be looking at making for future tournaments. Some of these were out of our hands like the double-elimination format which wasn't our format of choice but one we had to opt for because of the number of teams.
- Making sure both servers are available at least 30min beforehand (aka no events being played on them right before the tournament's start) so we don't have to rush the 'set-up' phase.
- With a different format, the 'lags' issue should be mostly solved as what caused the bad server performances early in the tournament was the limit of 100 slots being quickly reached on the upper server, something which won't happen if you use the regular format and sort out teams in groups and on two different servers from scratch.
- Avoiding one arena being left empty while some matches could be played in the meantime.
The chat was massively overlooked and ended-up being pretty cancerous but this the case when you gather 100+ players on a server, most of them having past grudges and rivalries - when they simply can't stand each other - or just loving to troll (hello VV). It's a fact that the admins cannot take care of that while referring matches and it was a utopia but to think we would manage to handle it. In future tournaments of this format (everything being played on a night) I don't think we'll aim at being as restrictive in the rules, as there is simply no point doing it if you can't take of it properly on the tournament's day.
The rule on tag and name will stay and got respected by a majority at the start. The rule on GUID will only stay if we are 100% to use scripts, else we won't bother with it.
Overall the tournament was still competitive and I feel we were successful at avoiding shady business and unfair decisions or rigged brackets. Most teams finished in 1h15/1h30 of playtime which is the perfect timing for a tournament, and it wasn't excessively long for the last teams either. Once more, thanks for joining us and we hope to see you in our future tournaments!
