In general, how happy are you? Are you content with your life? Why or why not?

Hmm very interesting thread Walko. We'll to answer the question, I'm dealing with a big problem with my life over the question if I should believe in god or not. I was raised as a catholic but now I'm starting to question his existence because why should such a god have all of the bad things happen in the world. But yet I'm I really losing anything by believing in god if the worst comes to worst then I would have just wasted my time but if he is real then I would go to heaven. So Walko there is my problem  :P

I'm incredibly sorry hear that. That sounds like a big problem, and something I can't really relate to. My personal advice would be to explore and learn as much as you can on your own, and maybe try to form your own personal beliefs. A few years ago I had a similar conflict, and began talking to an assortment of different people with different beliefs about what they thought. Getting different opinions really helped me forge my own ideas, and although I still don't fully know what I believe, and what the truth is, it has really helped my peace of mind. While I had no religious upbringing, and I'm sure that had something to do with why I was so open minded, I think that anybody could be open to new ideas to learn things. Best of luck dude  :).

All the bad things happen because God is not supposed to regulate our lives. Remember when Adam & Eve were kicked from the Garden of Eden, they got kicked in what is today's world. God is here to help people throughout their lives but not to make everything they want to happen nor make everything beautiful and nice. Also, the theory of Creationism says that God created the world and the humans, but does it say God has to keep watching upon everyone?

I myself am not a religious person but that's what I have been taught at the catechism (sort of religious education) that my grandparents absolutly wanted me to attend. >:(

I am content. Until I get E's on all of my A-Levels, then I'll be sad.

To quote Jim Jefferies "I stand up for you're right to be religious but please know you're wrong"
Me, I doubt there's a god, I am open to the idea but I am 95% sure there isn't a god of any sort.
But if I am wrong and there is a god and I go to hell, then the jokes on me.  ;D

Back to main topic, I think my life is pretty good, I am happy most the time and really have nothing to moan about compared to some people.

I guess I'm relatively happy, got nothing worth complaining about at least. Rent is paid, coursework is going fine, weather is fit for humans to function for the first time in half a year.

All in all pretty good.

If things pan out the way I hope they do I'm going to end up working as a lawyer. If that doesn't work out I'll join the military full time and get malaria in some inconsequential shithole.

I see, not to sound like a dick, but being a lawyer doesn't sound fun at all, if I may ask, what made you want to be a lawyer?

Well, working for the CPS you get to put the bad guys in jail! But if you work for a defence chamber, you get to use your clever techniques to get people out of going to jail . . . . the idea though of spending hours ploughing through ICLR records looking for ratios and obiters sound a bit boring though  :( Best of luck though ShortShorts :D It a competitive industry  :(
