in the first picture the guy doesn't seem to know how to use a bayonet.

The down block looks a bit weird as well. (IMO)

Up stab looks good the others look okay. (IMO)

As someone who has done his fair share of spinning, I'm glad it'll be gone. Same goes for feinting, the amount of feinting/spinning/dolphining etc in NW looks plain retarded and breaks immersion imo. Only reason I ever do it is because sometimes you have to if you really wanna be able to compete

Yea, there were certain aspects about the melee system that just looked dumb.  While the feinting was tolerable, the spinning and dolphin diving was not.  It was one reason i never cared for bayonet fighting.

Not sure what you are talking about.  They one hit kill just as often as  they wound.  Especially with regards to the pistol dragoons.

Well animations are work in progress. Although they won't change too much. Basicially up and downstab need to be fixed, because at the moment they do not go very far, which makes it hard to hit people that are further away. 1st picture obviously shows a upswing that you would normally only do when the bayonet is not attached.

Functionality for that is there. Basicially you can attach and remove the bayonet. Not having it attached will give you 4 swings, the upper swing of that is shown on the first image. When the bayonet is attached, you only have up and down stab.
Right now, the bayonet mesh is not being removed when the bayonet is not attached, that is why you can see it on the first image :P

All that being said, Melee will be very similar to what NW/Warband has + some added functionality.
So no need to worry about that.

It is already implemented, only thing it is lacking right now is some proper hit detection, but that is being worked on... It will be all ready and done for Alpha.

About Rifles and Muskets, as I said, we will be posting a blog about that soon.

I can imagine this could actually happen in-game or in history, heat of the moment charging and you forgot the bayonet was still attached. Killed by yourself.  :o
