Looks pretty good to me. I would add some hills though. Ignoring the craters, the ground is perfectly flat, which makes it look unnatural.
I think the lack of the promised mapping module needs an explanation. The first one we released was really half assed(completely my fault) and pretty much useless so we've been trying to make one that is perfect and shouldn't require much tweaking in the future. We keep discovering better ways to do the trench system so we started over several times. Ultimately, it got to the point that we decided that it's probably best to focus manpower on more important things. We'll probably just not have one at all and the new props will be part of the release. If it starts to delay the release by too much, we'll have it as a post-release update.
