Confederate States Marine Corps [NA]
« on: November 09, 2013, 04:50:58 am »

The Confederate States Marine Corps (CSMC)

"By coincidence, the first recruiting for the Confederate Marine Corps in 1861 and the last surrender of an organized unit of the Corps took place in Alabama. Based on the principle laid down by USMC Commandant Gene Archibald Henderson prior to the Civil War, the USMC was to be ready to respond instantly to any emergency. To the credit of Col. Beall and his experienced officers, the CSMC abided by the same principle. With a battalion-sized unit close to the CSMC Headquarters, the Marines were ready and capable of responding in short notice to emerging threats and special operations. Despite its small size, the CSMC distinguished itself numerous times and was constantly called upon and in demand not only by the Confederate Navy, but by the Army as well. On four separate occasions throughout the war, the CSMC received official thanks from the Confederate Congress. Even in the Confederacy’s waning days, the rebel Marines did not give up without a fight. One Union soldier after the Battle of Sayler’s Creek stated; “Those Marines fought like tigers and against odds of at least ten to one.” Whether on land or sea, the rebel Marines fought with valor and tenacity only expected of an elite fighting force. "

Rank Structure
Spoiler
Private (Pvt):  This is the lowest official rank in the regiment. Privates make up the rank and file of our Company and account for the vast majority of our men. Privates are expected to follow the code of conduct and carry out orders. Our success or failure as a Company rests on the shoulders of these men.

-No Rank Insignia-

Corporal (Cpl):  Corporal are the lowest ranking Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the Company. It is their job to work with the Sergeants to maintain order in the ranks and to ensure that dicipline and the code of conduct are upheld at all times. Corporals lead by example, but are also expected to understand line tactics and if need be, take over for a Sergeant in case they fall in battle. Corporals are expected to provide an example of what it means to be a "good soldier", but are expected, unlike the PFC's, to learn how to lead as well. Corporals act as the left guides of the platoons in our battle lines. Therefore, it is paramount that they be familiar with line tactics.

Sergeant (Sgt):Sergeants are the lifeforce of the Company. These men are the true leaders of the Company and ensure that it remains combat effective. Sergeants are expected to know and understand not only the line tactics, but also be knowledgeable in how to give and receive orders. Discipline is maintained by these men and it is their jobs to ensure that all orders are carried out by the men. Any problems or concerns are first dealt with by the Sergeants and are only passed up the chain of command if they are unable to resolve it. Sergeants are expected to interact with the men and answer any questions or concerns that they have, they are also expected to ensure that every soldier in their platoon is fully functional (ie on teamspeak, in steam group, checking the forums, running the current version of Warband, etc) as well as helping their Captain with accountability.

First Sergeant (1stSgt): First Sergeant is the highest ranking NCO in the Company, and is entrusted with keeping it combat effective at all times. If any Sergeant is unable to resolve an issue or answer a question, they bring it first to the First Sergeant before the Captain. The First Sergeant helps to distribute information to the platoons and assists the Captain in running the Company. He is also free to assist platoons when need be.

Sergeant Major (SgtMaj): The Sergeant Major is the Highest ranking Staff NCO in the battalion.  He is tasked with keeping it combat effective at all times. He helps to distribute information to the companies and assists the Major/ Lieutenant Colonel in the day to day tasks required to run the battalion effectively.

Second Lieutenant / First Lieutenant (2ndLt / 1stLt) : These are the lowest ranking Officersin the Company and act as Platoon leaders. It is their job to run their respective platoon and oversee it's performance in battle. Each Lieutenant is entrusted with distributing information, taking accountability, and coordinating with their Sergeants to ensure that their platoon is combat effective. During battle, Lieutenants will take command of their respective platoons and follow the overall orders of the Captain. First Lieutenant, although higher ranking than Second Lieutenants and first to assume command of the Company in the case of the Captains death, are considered to be of the same rank as the Second Lieutenants. Therefore, Second Lieutenants do not address the Fist Lieutenant as sir, nor do they take orders from them unless the 1stLt be acting as the Company Commander.

Captain (Capt): The Captain is the highest ranking officer at the Compay level. He oversees the command of the Company and leads it during battle. The Company is expected to understand operation and manuevers at the strategic and tactical level and to maneuver his Company according to the "big picture".

Major(Maj): The Major is the Highest Ranking Officer at the Battalion Level. He Oversees the Command of the Battalion, and works with the Captains as well as Lieutenant Of the Gun Crew to make the best decisions on how to maneuver the Battalion.  The Major is also responsible for the training of the Battalion. It is his job to inform his officers what needs to be done while it is the job of the Captains to see it carried out on the Company Level.

Code of Conduct

As general guidelines, members are to practice the following points:

1. Be respectful to everyone. This includes your comrades in the 1st, members of other regiments, public  Players, admins, officers, non-commissioned officers, and people on the forums.

2. Conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner. This means that cursing, glitching, trolling, flaming, and name calling or other forms of fighting are not allowed. This is especially important when we are in events or on a public server.

3. Follow Orders. It is paramount for the survival of the regiment that all orders given by our Officers and NCO's are followed to the letter and without question or argument. There is a time and place to discuss tactics and whether or not certain orders should be given or not. Directly after the order is given is not one of those times. This also applies to the Rules laid out by admins on their servers. We respect the right of admins to run their channels.

4. Do not retaliate. Regardless of the situation, if something is done to you (ie Teamkill, insult, etc) you are not to retaliate, but are instead to inform an officer or admin and report the problem. Anyone found retaliating will be dealt with in the same manner as the original offender.

Good Day Gentlemen! Let me congratulate you on taking your first step toward becoming a proud member of one of our country's greatest fighting forces! The Corps is Proud to have any whom are willing to answer the call.  Your dedication and commitment to your country and corps will certainly be what Wins this War and grants our Great nation the independence it has so long hoped for!  To Enlist Please fill out the application papers on our Forums![/font]
