2020 Summary & New Year wishes 4e Régiment de Hussards *** At the start of 2020, we in the 4e weren't sure of what we wanted to keep doing on Napoleonic Wars. The cavalry community had been quiet for months, with nothing to play but friendlies and mostly uninteresting matches. The first months of the year weren't marked by crazy in-game events, but the frustrating events due to Covid-19 helped us strengthen a bond and an incredible group of friends. Life plans delayed, weddings postponed, family members separated... we as a group know and feel how hard it must have been for some. To them outside the regiment, we send our best regards and support. To most of our own members, the regiment has played an important part in making this year a decent, sometimes enjoyable one. Today we are all extremely grateful to one another for what we have all given to the group in this difficult year. In September came the Cavalry League, and with it an instant and common will to go hard at things again. We started training like we did 5 years ago, we prepared for what was going to be a super tough and close competition of cavalry. And close it was. We managed to defeat every single of our opponents until the final match, where we had the pleasure to face our friends from the 8th Hussars. These guys had been improving massively over a year or so, and our match against them was undoubtedly the highlight of the year for the entire cavalry community. Sadly for us, the 8th came out on top and came back from our 2-0 lead to win the match 6-4 in a crazy and intense fight, of which we all keep good memories. Once again, we congratulate this great regiment on its well-deserved success. After the league, most of our members participated in the Six Nations Championship with their respective national teams. We as a regiment kept active and welcomed a handful of recruits bringing a fresh and exciting wind to the team. As a community we also kept ever closer. For the third year in a row now, we had the pleasure to organize a regimental Secret Santa, with gifts flying all over Europe for us to exchange and enjoy. We are now looking forward to a fresh new year with tons of new projects, our 6-year anniversary to come in March, of which we want to do something really special, and, if the situation allows it, a great real-life meet-up for many of us to meet again, or for the first time. We wish the entire NW community a happy new year filled with health, success and happy moments to live and share.

The past 10 months have been very challenging; everyone had their own little fight going, their own dragon to best. 2020 has been brutal and I simply cannot express how grateful I am, for having this little oasis, away from all the chaos. To forget the shit that is going on, for at least a little while. Was it through events, wholesome (and drunk) film nights or philosophical talks at 2:30 AM, this group made it possible for anyone and I wouldn't want to miss a single moment!

2021 looks more promising, I am sure. Wishing everyone a good new year!

First training of the year tomorrow

I have watched the 4e since its creation, witnessed them building one of the most amazing legacies the warband scene has ever witnessed. When I joined them, I was simply expecting to enjoy retirement alongside an old fart friend of mine.

One CL later and with a COVID pandemic which seems to never end, I can safely say I am forever grateful to the 4e guys for having welcomed me amongst their ranks as one of them but also gave me the passion of cavalry & NW back again.

With the horizon of the competitive community still filled with many great regiments such as the 6e, 1er, 2Lr, 8th and others, I feel confident we still got something to offer, enjoyable tournaments to experience and memories to create for the years to come.

Happy new year to the 4e and the cavalry community. Let's make it last for as long as we possibly can.
