Historical Discussion / Full list of Regiments, Corps and formations of the British Army 1793-1815

I have been creating a comprehensive list of all Regiments, Corps and formations of the British Army between 1793-1815.
The intent is to not only list all the units but also provide details of establishment, uniforms and life span if possible.
The list is currently work in progress but currently has:

Infantry:

Regiment of Foot Guards
Regiments of Foot
Militia
Fencibles
Volunteer Infantry (90%)

But when finished I hope to have also all the foreign regiments, colonial regiments, all cavalry forces, artillery year by year.
1793 is up and view-able, however only contains regular regiments and some fencible and militia regiments!

I also have a separate list of all the Regiments of the Honourable East India Company 1793-1815

Iron Europe / UK skins replace france (Minor Mod)

This mod basically changes all the french skins for units and weapons apart from the Mgs and arty and some of the pistols to British Uniforms and Weapons.

The Welsh Guards

The Welsh Guards came into existence on 26 February 1915 by Royal Warrant of His Majesty King George V in order to include Wales in the national component to the Foot Guards, "..though the order to raise the regiment had been given by the King to Earl Kitchener, Secretary of State for War, on 6 February 1915."They were the last of the Guards to be created, with the Irish Guards coming into being in 1900. Just three days later the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards mounted its first King's Guard at Buckingham Palace on 1 March 1915 – St David's Day.

On 17 August 1915 the 1st Battalion sailed for France to join the Guards Division to commence its participation in the First World War. Its first battle was some months after its initial arrival, at Loos on 27 September 1915. The regiment's first Victoria Cross came two years later in July 1917 awarded to Sergeant Robert

One way to distinguish between the regiments of Foot Guards is the spacing of buttons on the tunic. The Welsh Guards have buttons arranged in groups of five.

The Welsh Guards were given many Battle honours.

Loos, Bapaume 1918, Somme 1916–1918, Arras 1918, Ginchy, Albert 1918, Flers-Courcelette, Drocourt-Quéant, Morval, Hindenburg Line, Ypres 1917, Havrincourt, Pilckem, Canal Du Nord, Poelcappelle, Selle, Passchendaele, Sambre, Cambrai 1917–1918, France and Flanders 1915–1918


The Welsh Guards have been awarded two Victoria Crosses during it's time.One during the First World War and one in the Second World War.

Sergeant Robert James Bye VC 1st Bt Welsh Guards was awarded the regiments first VC.
Aged 27, Sergeant Bye did his deed on the 31st July 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres.

"No. 939 Sjt. Robert Bye, Welsh Guards (Penrhiwceiber, Glamorgan).

For most conspicuous bravery. Sjt. Bye displayed the utmost courage and devotion to duty during an attack on the enemy's position. Seeing that the leading waves were being troubled by two enemy blockhouses, he, on his own initiative, rushed at one of them and put the garrison out of action. He then rejoined his company and went forward to the assault of the second objective. When the troops had gone forward to the attack on the third objective, a party was detailed to clear up a line of blockhouses which had been passed. Sjt. Bye volunteered to take charge of this party, accomplished his object, and took many prisoners. He subsequently advanced to the third objective, capturing a number of prisoners, thus rendering invaluable assistance to the assaulting companies. He displayed throughout the most remarkable initiative."

HMS Victory History

The Battle of Trafalgar After learning he was to be removed from command, Villeneuve put to sea on the morning of 19 October, and once the last ship had left port, around noon the following day, set sail for the Mediterranean. The British frigates sent to keep track of the enemy fleet throughout the night, were spotted at around 1900hrs and the order was given to form line of battle. On the morning of 21 October the main British fleet, which was out of sight and sailing parallel some 10 miles away, turned to intercept. Nelson had already made his plans: to break the enemy line some two or three ships ahead of their Commander in Chief in the centre and achieve victory before the van could come to their aid. At 0600hrs Nelson ordered his fleet into two columns. Fitful winds made it a slow business and for more than six hours the two columns of British ships slowly approached the French line before Royal Sovereign, leading the lee column, was able to open fire on Fougueux. Around 30 minutes later Victory broke the line between Bucentaure and Redoutable firing a treble shotted broadside into the stern of the former from a range of a few yards. At quarter-past one Nelson was shot, the fatal musket ball entering his left shoulder and lodging in his spine. He died at half past four. Such killing had taken place on Victory's quarter deck that Redoutable attempted to board her, but they were thwarted by the arrival of Eliab Harvey in the 98-gun HMS Temeraire, whose broadside devastated the French ship. Nelson's last order was for the fleet to anchor, but this was countermanded by Vice Admiral Collingwood. Victory suffered 57 killed and 102 wounded.
