I got Crysis and Crysis 2 recently, seem to be pretty good games. Warhammer 40k anything (Except Dawn of War 2) is awesome.

If you're into teamwork based games, invest in something like Arma 2/3 and get a bunch of friends together for it. Alot of amazing mods out there for Arma 2, and it's highly dependent on good team communication. Can last for hours if you play it 'right'.  :)

-World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2

-War Thunder , World of Tanks

-Get some friends and play Crusader Kings II, it's always fun.

-Try some MB mods, Full Invasion II is quite enjoyable I've seen.

DotA 2. Pretty much all I play now, and its also free to play and no pay to win. Amazing amount of depth, slightly hard to get in to.

Got them because of me. Besides, Crysis gets boring without mods and Crysis 2 is way too short.

For me: Men of War: Excellent WWII RTS, very realistic. Extremely fun with friends. Coop campaign.
WITCHER SERIES! I could never recommend a series of games more than the Witcher games. Just look at this!

Extremely immersive. Great story. Phenomenal soundtrack! Amazing graphics! Great gameplay! Plus, the amount of stuff you get from the Steam versions is ridiculous. Developer commentaries, screenshots, 100s of pages oof artbooks, free strategy guides, full soundtracks, plus community added songs, renders, concept art, posters, wallpapers, avatars, MOTHERFUCKING PAPERCRAFTS and the list goes on. And a big bonus, not afraid to get... mature. Add some whipped cream to that bananna cream pie, y'know? (;<

Alan Wake! This screenshot explains it all.

I can second this, I've really gotten into DotA which was quite surprising as I've never really been keen on any other MOBA's. Although like a lot of other games I recommend getting at least 1 or 2 others to play with you, nothing is more frustrating than having someone who has no idea how to play properly shout over VC in Russian.

Anything of these series can get your eyes sparkling

Empire & those released after it - Total War series // NTW ftw :)
San Andreas and afterwards - GTA series
Anything from the Assassin's Creed series
Red Orchestra 2 Heroes of Stalingrad
Some ParadoxPlaza strategy, all the same to me, I recommend either Victoria II or Hearts of Iron 3
Stronghold Kingdoms as a good time-waster =D (multiplayer MMORPG)
Mafia II

That's pretty much all that I use... From older games there's also an awesome serial about cowboys and stuff called "Gun" from Activision (only one game no other episodes or stuff like that, still, short but AWESOME :D )

San Andreas afterwards?! Vice City and 3 still hold appeal and can be incredibly enjoyable today! Hell, even 1 is great if you can stomach the retro feel. Also, is Stronghold Kingdoms really any good?

The TW series got progressively worse after medieval 2, so I don't know why you like the later ones so much
San Andreas and Vice city were the only good GTA games
Assassin's creed is good but not amazing
Red Orchestra is good
Good taste in grand strategy!
Stronghold kindgoms is shitty, play Crusader
never played mafia 2

TERA online, I play it since yesterday.

It's free ! ;D

It is a game with fantasy stuff, I think it gets rather close to WoW, but then free. You can play on the same servers as your friends, customize a character give it a name etc. Also you'll have to select a class fitting to your style like Archer, Lance (no horse though), 2 handed sword, 2 smaller swords, magic etc. You have a couple of ''worlds'' I beleave, you start in the nub world and then you can train etc. You have quests and you can kill monsters, ooh. And you can be a fat cat or a fat rabbit ;p, also you can be humans, evil thingy's, elves etc.

*note* It's a pretty heavy game and the downloading takes quite long.

But it's definetly worth a try ;)

Spent most of it trying to get into a game, needs a minimum amount of players. Would be great for more of us to get on there and have a go at it.

Edit: Unfortunately, the game is a bit bugged out at the moment so it isn't playable at the moment.

Just got a few new games on sale at gamersgate. Check it out if you want insanely good deals (spring sale).
So far I have checked out Deus Ex Collection (Really fun stealth game that is extremeley immersive. The newest one blows my mind in terms of visuals, the cyberpunk city is absolutely mind blowing.)

Kingdoms of Amalur( Haven't gotten far yet, but what I can say is that so far the combat is super fun and the artstyle is beautiful, many of the environments are insanely awesome looking.)

I also picked up this free game a friend reccommended me. It is called Toribash and is basically a fighting simulaltor. You manipulate individual muscles and stuff to take turns making moves. The turns usually last about 2 seconds, and then you start manipulating the muscles again for the next turn. It is kind of like a strategy game mixed with martial arts sim. It is online and really fun, plus has a huge modding community. It is really hard to explain, but some of the things you can do if you are really skilled are insane. Here is 2 videos to show off some really skilled players.

Crazy ninja shit fighting stuff

Crazy parkour video

Admittedly, when you first start out, you will likely be flopping around like a fish, but with enough practice, you can do some really cool things. With about a week of practice I have gone from barely being able to tackle somebody to being able to side kick people in half (If they put up a poor defense) in a mere 5 turns. It is really rewarding and fun.

Get the game at http://www.toribash.com/

Europa Universales III (or any other paradox game like it)
Arma Series (All are REALLY Good. [Personally 2000+ Hours])

I was lately playing a lot of March of the Eagles. Great game in my opinion, only problem is that they only have 8 major factions which have the chance to actually win.
The most fun you have in Multiplayer, although I recommend not to play it with some one who takes games like this too seriously. I heard there are some good mods out already, but I am too dumb to install them xD
If you liked Paradox strategy games this one might be something for you.

Reus - A Dutch manufactured game, where you control giants that can build up a planet sparkling with life from scratch. The game itself is very good, but taken in consideration that you have to unlock nearly everything before you can build something really big, this game requires at least 10 hours of playtime to get to that point. And it isn't a game that you want spend those 10 hours on just for unlocking everything, since it's really a lot of the same things you go over and over again.
Good game - Just a bit too much of the same.

Element4l (Elemental) - Great little platform game. You control a element that can shift into 'air', 'fire', 'stone' and 'ice' to gain different boosts when going through the map. Took me a couple of hours to complete. It is definitely not as easy as you first think, so if you like platform games that are challenging, this is one for you.

That post was on-topic. It gave two recommendations. It was overly complicated, but it was on-topic.

I had it when I bought the Anthropology set of all three American Conquest games, but all of them don't work now, so I saw it was dirt cheap on Steam. Really one of my favorite series.

Well, I have gone through another batch of games. Here goes.

Fortix

A .99 cent puzzle/arcade/strategy game on Steam. I haven't been able to finish it yet, but if you perfect all the levels and get the achievments, I expect the game would last about 6 hours, well worth the 99 cent. The premise is simple, you are a knight. Your homeland is invaded by an evil dude. The evil dude captures a bunch of castles, mans the towers with evil goblins who wish to shoot you. He has also released a bunch of angry dragons. You must besiege these castles. You do that by drawing closed in areas. When you draw the enclosure, you capture that land, and it acts like a shield to the dragons and cannon fire from the towers. However, capturing land is not your objective, the castle is. The main goal is to capture the castle on each level. You can also take out the towers by launching catapults. You do this by enclosing the catapults and their "trigger zones". You can also enclose power ups which do special things like stop dragons, kill a monster, or add time. You can also slay the dragons by enclosing them. You die by either getting the line you are drawing touched by a cannonball or dragon, or you yourself being touched by one. You have 3 lives per map and can get more by power ups. The game is very nice for 99 cent. It also has a little bit of a fantasy story. Play with the mouse, it is the superior control and not hard to master.

Batman: Arkham Asylum
You play as Batman. You roam around Arkham Asylum, neutralizing The Joker's thugs and some iconic Batman characters, such as Harley Quinn, The Penguin, The Scarecrow and The Crocodile. It plays in a more stealth style. Bullets kill you quick, so you must sneak around or silently kill armed thugs. Unarmed thugs are a bit easier, getting into responsive and fun hand to hand brawls with them. The graphics are great and the story greater. The voice acting is superb and it is worthwhile to get all the collectibles which are cleverly hidden and fun to get, with riddles, challenges and other things to accompany them. The boss battles are great and well thought out. The play area is well crafted and is good fun to explore.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
A great story and soundtrack. Superb voice acting. Very immersive game. The environments are not very varied, but they are superbly crafted. The stealth gameplay is insanely fun and sometimes challenging. The characters are well crafted. The weapons are varied and fun to use. The RPG aspects are fun, and there is much content and things to do. Choose the stealth route if you play this, it is the more entertaining and rewarding style.

Sir, you are being hunted

Sir, You Are Being Hunted is an open world survival stealth video game in development by Big Robot for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. An alpha version of the game was made available on 19 August 2013.
The game is currently in the open alpha stage of development

In Sir, You Are Being Hunted, players will have to survive from 'Hunters' (robots dressed as Victorian gentlemen) who are trying to track down and kill them, whilst attempting to escape from an island. Players will be required to scavenge towns and villages for items such as food and weapons to help them survive whilst collecting rune stones in order to escape the island. If the robots find a rune stone, they will set up sentries around it to defend it from the player. The game's enemies will utilise dogs and balloons in order to find the player.
The island played on is procedurally generated, meaning that every playthrough will generate a different landscape. It is populated with villages, towns and other areas where the player can find essential supplies.

IT'S AMAZING

Well, given that it's made by the same people who made the original series (which was awesome) I think it's safe to look forwards to a game to say the least. Sure, it could be a let down, but any game could be. Where would we be if we didn't trust in the abilities of any games studio to produce good games? Depressed as hell, that's where. Also like to point out that playing a pre-alpha game wouldn't really prove anything, because, well, pre-alpha :P

Should I get EU4 or CK2 first?

Title: Re: Game Suggestions
Post by: MrTiki on April 27, 2014, 06:50:19 pm
EU4 is much more big picture than CK2. I started playing EU4 and loved it, then I was convinced to get CK2 because it's quite similar in a lot of ways. However, I was sort of disappointed by it. Not to say it isn't a good game, but it's not to my tastes, and was less intuitive than EU4. The one that really annoyed me was the mercenaries. To take over a neighbouring province, I hired mercenaries (which is a commonplace activity in EU4), they costed me an arm and a leg, but I needed them because my own armies weren't sufficient. Then, when I had almost won the siege, I ran out of money to pay them. Now, in EU4, you can simply take out loans when needed, no questions asked. Your mercenaries would stay on, as they are still being paid. However, in CK2 you simply go straight into debt, which puts you in a rather bad position. The mercenaries, instead of simply disbanding, which would be logical, actually turn against you, and so I was utterly destroyed (I was a minor figure) by these mercenaries (and my other enemies).
The tutorials failed to mention anything like this being possible (at least from what I could figure out of them, as they weren't logically ordered, so I may have missed some).

To sum up, EU4 is a game which is intuitive, and relatively easy, at least if you are playing as a medium-large nation to start off, and, once you have the hang of it, it's possible to still do well, even if you begin with 2 provinces. You control vast armies, and take over the world by ganging up on the larger powers and crushing small neighbours. The mods for it (from Steam Workshop) are quite good, and change it up a bit, as in the Vanilla there's a couple of nations who always dominate. These are broken up into smaller factions in some mods, and mechanics are also changed in other mods. It's one of my favourite games.

CK2, from my brief experiences, does not have the same intuitive interface, and requires a comprehension of the complexities of it to not get fucked over. Once you have that, it probably is a great game, but I wasn't bothered to get that far.
I'm probably not doing it the justice it deserves (I've heard glowing reviews of it) so hopefully someone else can better explain it.

Should I get EU4 or CK2 first?

Eu4 is more basic and slightly easier to get into, and ck2 is a little more daunting at first but ends up being far easier once you get the hang of it. I personally played EUIII before ck2 came out, but I was never really able to get into either of them until I had more experience with ck2, which prepared me for EUIII/IV as well.

Eu4 can be figured out relatively easily on your own, but for ck2 I'd recommend watching this guy's introduction series:

Never bought RTW:2, and heard it's been fixed now. Worth the $20?

I heard TPB is having it on sale for $0. Maybe you could check it out, I've heard some good things about their services.

What was the name of the site? thebuccaneercove? theraiderlagoon? Thep-p-p-Nah... It wasn't that.

Probably not but you can still easily host private games as long as you're not planning on doing matchmaking with randoms. I have it and it's eh... alright. It's fun but there are still a lot of issues, and that fucking campaign UI is just godawful. It's better than both Empire and Napoleon, but I think it falls short of Shogun 2 in terms of smoothness, balance and optimization. Either way, try it b4 u buy it.

I have $7.70 left on my steam wallet and 3 games to choose from.

Should I buy Payday 2, Borderlands 2, or Civ 5?

You can never go wrong with civ 5 there is so much you can do with that game. If you have borderlands 1 you will be disappointed by borderlands 2 but is still a fun game. Cannot comment on Payday 2 though.

Has anyone hear ever heard of or played Space Station 13? It's quite an old RPG game, really fun once you get the hang of it.
