The latter two are possible in Napoleonic Wars, so I assume that it will be so in this game as well.

The one thing I want for cavalry more than anything is the ability to lean out of the saddle when fighting, instead of sitting rigidly upright. It would go a long way towards Hampton's first point.

Falling from your horse? realisticly, you won't be able to walk anymore. Would you want that?
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

That's bullshit Riddlez. You can fall of your horse and be perfectly fine.

Yeah, I was just reading that at Gettysburg one Union commander had his horse shot out from under him 3 times during the course of one of the days of the battle -- it's certainly possible to be completely okay from such an event.

I like the precedent, set by NW, that a single stab from infantry can dehorse a rider at speed. It levels the playing field though I could see some changes to cav overall.  There are three things I would like to see, a mounted thrust would do more damage  the slash do less and you can couch your sword forward vs. enemy cav.

Cav is powerful. But easy to take down if you know how.

I know most of us have played as calvary in NW before and I feel it is pretty unrealistic in my view I mean I enjoy the unit of Calvary but to me half the time I ride by and slash someone it does no damage by a horse trample damage and that's it but when I see my sword go straight there the enemy and do nothing. Even as I run into the enemy sometimes I again see my sword go into them and do nothing.

Am I just not pro enough? NW buggy engine? Lag?

What are your guys thoughts?

In Battle Cry of Freedom I would like to see a new and improved cav with a better melee system to work them. Maybe than I'd play it more often and enjoy it more.

It's spelled "C-a-v-a-l-r-y" not "C-a-l-v-a-r-y" :P
