To 'Bump' a thread is to reply by posting a comment on a thread in order to bump it to the top of the page listings. Hence the term 'bump' and regiment leaders appreciate a nice 'bump' post. I see in your case when you are asked to bump a thread for an appeal just reply in a post when asked to bump. Regarding mods, us modders highly appreciate a bumped thread to fuel discussion further.  :D
