North and South - 1.2




Some years have passed since the last patch in North and South. A long time this was considered as last patch and the community has slowly declined. Now, with the approval and support of Hinkel, we will continue to work on the Mod, which saw lately a grow again in players. The first patch, the patch 1.2, aims for bugfixes, playing- and administrating-improvements, and probably adding some new units of active playing regiments (communityinput). New gamemechanics are not planned at the moment. We will work closely with the community in the whole process.

Communitymeetings:

We aim to meet with the community several times, in planningphase, buildingphase and testingphase. I suggest to have a meeting for each of the armies (there are two at the moment, if I am not mistaken) and a meeting together with all the free regiments.

Very enjoyable mod and I look forward to any improvements that can be made to it. Would be good to get big events up and running again if possible.

If someone provides good maps, we would gladly include them into patch. However there is no real need for it, as the game is a Multiplayer only game, and people can put any maps they want on their servers anyway. But sure, contributions are gladly taken.

Some base maps would be nice without the need of having to put them on servers. For myself and many of my regiment, we would love to see new uniforms. We hope to see an 8th Virginia unit with a nice confederate uniform. I personally really miss the Officer skins with the Frogcoat that hangs over like the old 69thNY officer from the old patch. It would be really nice to see new uniforms especially for officers and NCOs. Something which we wish we could see is an option to go more ranks than just "Sergeant". Some of my guys would like to go a Corporal in game or at times, go a SgtMaj class with the rank on the uniform in game. Kinda like how it is for officers you have the Captains, Lts and Cols.

It would be nice to see some more units, maybe even some new weapons. Maps though are a definite.

If you could possibly add ranks ingame such as Corporal, Quartermaster Sergeant, etc. Also in order to get the community back on track I think new units and uniforms need to be added to address the needs of the current members of the community. Just my opinion but I am really glad to see this going again its gonna be great.

Something you should do if you can is fix the face customization bugs. The slides are all attached to the wrong facial features and a few of the little details like the cigars and beards etc don't register when you save your character.

Yeah I personally agree with Malkolm, you should have a quick peek at the face customization slides. The current maps are fine and the classes might need to be tweaked a little.

There seems to be a misunderstanding, I probably wasnt clear enough in the first post.
We wont create new uniforms, we just offer to integrate uniforms, used by the community in personal client mods, and therefor adding new units for those existing models.
Any community submitted model will be evaluated and considered.

Something you should do if you can is fix the face customization bugs. The slides are all attached to the wrong facial features and a few of the little details like the cigars and beards etc don't register when you save your character.

Here is a list of some of the Bugs that have been reported to me over the years some I cannot confirm but might be worth checking so I shall contain them anyway.

- FI sword model is allegedly shorter then the actual reach of the weapon i have nothing but reports that this is the case but might be worth looking over some of the sword models as its something that keeps coming up about various swords in the mod

-Butterfly  Sgt cannot remount after dismounting

-Carbine sights are apparently off according to some Cav Regs

-Lances make horses rear up if they stab a horse e.g. a dismounted lancer stabs a horse and it stops no matter the speed. it would better if this was not the case as dismounted lancers shutdown Cav charges better then the Inf with bayonets

- Face Making bugs e.g. sometimes certain items just don't save

- shooting threw the walls of the white barn that you can enter (+ you can walk onto the roof from inside) and some of the standard none enterable town buildings can bee partially walked in so you can hide inside the walls might be worth looking at some of the building models walls to see if this can be fixed (if you need help finding the buildings I am referring to I am happy to show you)

-FI to get sharpshooter rifles and Prussian Jäger Officer to get a sword (balance out the Faction)

-Can Cav Sgts get Bandages and sword (Sword, Bandage, Ammo and Carbine) can fit

- Map improvements to all maps would be the addition of a bandage box in all spawns this wont be as important if Cav get bandages and a sword but still a useful thing DA maps have been edited to add them to some of the more popular ones and we have created a few new maps if you are interested in Jokfils maps I shall get in touch with him about it

That is normal to any unit in MB. Might be more off, if shooting down from horseback. Nothing we could do about.

Rearing is default off in NaS, like in NW. A quick test showed it is activated on your server, so probably someone enabled it with access to your serverfiles. Open modules.ini and change 'horses_rear_with_attack = 1' to 'horses_rear_with_attack = 0'

A list of the buildings would be nice to get. With shooting through, do you mean Arty, or normal bullets?

Sure, feel free to submit Maps. And dont worry about the bandages, cav will get swords and bandages working. We also might add an adminpanel option to autospawn a bandagechest at each battle spawnpoint.

remove lancers
bring back the bottle glitch
make more maps without the tavern building
remove partisan rangers
give foreign intervention a sharps unit
make the 1stUSSS knife able to block
let cav sgts bring bandages and swords
give the kentucky rifle a proper texture
get rid of the awful death sounds
add the ability to move while equipping bayonet
give arty pvt 3 ramrods and lighters
take out colonel horses
