This has been a thing forever. The URBZ: Sims in the City, or whatever it's called, for XBOX, had Verizon ads on billboards throughout the city. It worked and was a cool way to show advertisements. It made the game easier to fund and release, and looking at modern games like NBA 2k16, it makes sense, as long as basketball products are sold in basketball games.
I don't see something like this that reduces how much a game will cost (which often is out of what can be afforded) as a bad thing. If this is something in BCoF, as long as I don't have to see ads for YouTube pages and products like Lootcrate, it's fine. That said, since the game is set long in the past, I don't see any modern products fitting in.
