News & Announcements / Re: Developer Blog 26 - Alpha Announcement!
« on: October 17, 2015, 07:19:38 am »
Well... FSE isn't in a position to sabotage another game's player base by doing a contained announcement on its own board. It has been long overdue as is.

The mounting pressure had been steadily building due to community anger over a lack of updates. Commercial competition may have certainly compounded that pressure but the announcement seems more of an effort at staying relevant amid community speculation that the project was dead. Olafson was already posting a large amount of pics in the donators board over a week ago but whichever way you look at it; Competition is a good thing and if it adds that bit of extra pressure for devs to provide a better product and service then all the better for the customer. I am hoping that both games will succeed in their respective enterprise.

Russia is in it to help Assad, the west is in it to help the opposition. However, we don't actually bomb Assad.

At the same time, 85% of all civilian casualties are caused by Assad, so the claim that Assad is better then IS doesn't really have merit. Sure, a mass-murderer killing thousands each month is better then a religious nut killing hundreds each month, amirite people?

Very interesting post.

I wish you would share more sources of information so we could better understand the process of allocating death responsibility.

Business insider quotes the 85% from Syrian activist groups which aren't always impartial or have a broad definition of the term civilian:

Spoiler
Al Jazeera journalist Nir Rosen reported that many of the deaths reported daily by activists are in fact armed insurgents falsely presented as civilian deaths, but confirmed that real civilian deaths do occur on a regular basis.[19] A number of Middle East political analysts, including those from the Lebanese Al Akhbar newspaper, have also urged caution.[20][21][22]

This was later confirmed when in late May 2012, Rami Abdulrahman of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is one of the opposition-affiliated groups counting the number of those killed in the uprising, stated that civilians who had taken up arms during the conflict were being counted under the category of "civilians".[23][24][25]

I have no doubt the regime has killed plenty of civilians whether targeted or accidental but its always nice to know what constitutes said civilians.

I expect a mod where you can launch prisoners on that there catapult. The thwack impact sounds will be immensely satisfying. If you launch a Lord (being they probably can't die) it will likely diminish your relations by the size of the brick he hits on the way down.

Away with you vile beggar! *Fire catapult* *Wilhelm scream* *Thwack* *Glorious*

inb4 fse abandons BCoF and makes a DLC in collaboration with taleworlds for bannerlord.

Well I can't speak for FSE devs as I am just a contractor but I may get involved in the mod community/modding at a later date.

From what I have seen with the combat, I am very much into it, but I think that they need to take another step and add gore in. It is something that was always needed in the Mount & Blade franchise, and if they don't add it, it will still be awesome, but, it will be really lacking. Even if they put as an option in the campaign menu, to turn it on and off at will, will be good for me.
I think it would be good to have the option too, though it should definitely be optional for those who prefer it without.
When I helped to do the original voices for M&B Warband; Armagan didn't end up using the more violent screams I did (which I later released as Official voice pack), as he wanted to keep the product friendly for all ages I believe. If they pursue a similar line with M&B2 I doubt they will include much more gore than blood splatter, but I expect M&B2 will likely be mod friendly so hopefully there might be some opportunities there.

I dunno I felt obliged to Roderick is the lord afterall, although Asher probably deserved to live more than Roderick I mean he got expelled from his home for loving the wrong grill.

I was torn on that decision D:

I ended up sticking with Asher given the pragmatics of an able bodied leader of a merc company. I also really enjoyed the dialogue between Asher and his friend. I made a lot of subservient decisions during the course of the game with Roderick to somehow try and be diplomatic and bide my time but every-time you give an inch you get taken for a mile lol. Given the bad taste that left in my mouth I feel I can start a new page with Asher and somehow be in character with his recklessness.

Can't verify if the article is legit but damn interesting read. Especially the last paragraph. Might be interesting for you MaxLam.

EDIT: Turns out this is Greece's Fox News so you can pretty much forget it being legit.

Bunch of articles I've read that were interesting over the past week:

Apparently Yanukovych and a few of his associates are no longer on Interpol's wanted list. This is because the Ukraine hasn't provided sufficient evidence to Interpol to continue keeping them on a wanted list (this is not to suggest there isn't any but that none has been provided.):

http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/yanukovych-no-longer-listed-as-wanted-person-by-interpol-393931.html

The only one arrested so far afaik is Yuriy Kolobov (former Ukranian Finance Minister who was arrested recently in Spain on suspicion of embezzlement):
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/ukraine/11450713/Spanish-police-swoop-on-fugitive-Ukrainian-minister.html

He will appear in court for possible extradition.

Additionally Ukranian Army is accusing the separatists of false flag operations in the Donetsk area (recent shelling):
http://www.kyivpost.com/content/kyiv-post-plus/ukrainian-military-claims-separatists-to-blame-for-donetsk-shelling-393871.html

Right sector holds rally calling for no-confidence vote on government:
http://www.kyivpost.com/multimedia/photo/right-sectors-rally-on-independence-square-in-kyiv-393998.html
(There's a silver lining here but one I am not sure if the government will accept):

The shootout, according to Ukraine's State Security Service, involved control over smuggling channels in the westernmost Ukrainian region, which borders four European Union countries.

After the bloody clash, Yarosh asked that the Right Sector members involved in the shootout receive immunity in exchange for the paramilitary unit becoming formally subordinate to the nation's military structure.
