Events: EU / 33rd Conquest Assault Event [EU]
« on: June 14, 2022, 10:56:40 pm »

This Events information has been amalgamated into the main Wednesday Rotational event thread here. It is still running so feel free to apply!

When - 19:00 (UK) Wednesdays - alternating with Conquest

Where - 33rd Conquest Assault

The 33rd Regiment of Foot is proud to Host our New Conquest Assault Event taking place every other Wednesday from 19:00 lasting until 20:00 (UK time). Conquest Assault simulates an assault on enemy territory, featuring one side as the Defenders and the other as the Attackers. The main theme for now will be Star Wars, but the event might later feature some other themes, like WW2, LotR, ect. The rules might differ from map to map, but in general the rules will be simple and easy to follow.

Every map we will have 2 rounds, so every Team gets to be the Attacker and the Defender.

The Defending team starts with control over most (or all) flags on the map, while the Attacking team controls only their base (or 1 more flag)

The Attackers start with way more tickets than the Defenders, because as soon as the game starts, the Attackers start bleeding tickets since they don't own any flags yet.

Both Attackers and Defenders have a base that can not be captured by the other team.

Some maps will not be playable by Cavalry, so Cavalry regiments will need to take a line unit.

All maps have set Artillery Pieces for use by arty.

Each regiment will be assigned its own unit.

Server side reskins appropriate to each maps are applied; Ranging between Clone troopers, Rebels, Droids and Empire.

Conquest Assault Specific Rules:
Units must form a formation of 4+ when moving out from spawn or flags.
Freedom of movement permitted around flags or on ships/boats.
FiC allowed on all maps unless stated by Admin
RiC is NOT ALLOWED outside of flags.

Sign ups will be made on this forum however the final confirmation of attendance and giving out of the password will be handled on steam, therefore it is essential that you Add Šupak & Camellia on Steam!

We are a British Regiment that currently fields three different companies: Line infantry, Light infantry and an attached Cavalry Troop. This company system allows us to contribute a large presence as one whole regiment in our events, whilst maintaining smaller communities in which individual members can play their part. Our ever present aim is to maintain a regiment that provides a professional but enjoyable Napoleonic Wars experience for all kinds of players, whether they be brand-new or seasoned players. We host and partake in a broad range of event types, from competitive tournaments to period correct events - we therefore firmly believe that any type of NW player will find something they personally enjoy within our ranks.

We have accepted and still continue to accept members of all nationalities and pride ourselves in having one of the most diverse rosters of different nationalities in the community. The only requirements are that you speak and understand English to an intermediate degree, along with the ability to attend one event per week. We also play a huge role in the wider Mount&Blade NW community, hosting servers for our numerous weekly events and tournaments, voluntarily funded by our dedicated membership.

In the 33rd we keep our casual and competitive organisations entirely separate, enabling our members to choose what they wish to play in both scenes. Currently our Infantry field an A team, B team and EGS team. The B team is a fantastic stepping stone for new players to the scene whilst A team is for our most experienced players, both combining together for larger matches. The EGS team is specifically for our most dedicated players who are not already involved in another groupfighting team. Our cavalry team is comprised of our entire cavalry troop, plus any players who enjoy cavalry from elsewhere in the regiment.

Introduction

The 33rd Volunteer Infantry Regiment is proud to Host our New Tuesday Event, taking place every week from 19:00 lasting until 20:00 (UK time).
This being the only event we currently host in Battle Cry of Freedom, our intention is to offer a wide spread of formats and gamemodes, so ourselves
and the attendees can expect something different week on week.

Please note that we currently host one event per month in the American Civil War time period, with the majority of events being based in the Napoleonic Wars Period (AoN).

The following Rules are in force for each class with the exception of those stated in the Game modes/formats.
We will use any two of the below Game modes/Formats per event, spending 20-30mins on each. Some of these

War of the Spanish Succession: First officially formed in 1702 as Huntingdon's Regiment, registered at the 33rd Regiment of Foot in 1715.
Valencia de Alcantara 1705, Zaragossa 1710.

War of the Austrian Succession: Dettingen 1743, Fontenoy 1745, Rocoux, Lauffeld 1747.

American Revolutionary War: During this conflict the regiment became known as 'the Pattern' and was reputably the best trained regiment in the British army. in 1782 the Regiment was formally associated with Yorkshire, becoming the 33rd (1st Yorkshire West-Riding) regiment of foot. Upon their return to England in 1786 the Regiment also acquired the nickname of 'The Havercake Lads', the havercake being an oat pancake, a traditional staple in the north of England, held aloft by the recruiting party serjeants.
Sullivan's Island, Long Island, Harlem Heights, Fort Washington 1776, Brandywine, Germantown, White Marsh 1777, Monmouth 1778, Charleston, Camden 1780, Guilford Court House, Green Spring, Yorktown 1781.

India: In 1797 the 33rd was sent to India where it took part in the Fourth Mysore War, which resulted in the defeat of Tipoo Sahib, ‘The Tiger of Mysore’, and the award of the Battle Honour Seringapatam.
Mysore, Seringapatam 1799.

Napoleonics: Returning to England after 16 years abroad, the regiment was ordered in 1813 to carry out 'King’s Duty', standing guard at Windsor Castle. Six months later it departed again for Holland where it took part in the attack on Bergen-op-Zoom before Napoleon was exiled to Elba. The 33rd was still in Holland when Bonaparte escaped Elba and returned to France. Forming part of Halkett’s 5th Brigade in Alten’s 3rd Division they saw action at Quatre Bras. Marching back to Waterloo they were formed in the centre of the ridge between Hougomont and La Haye Sainte. Here they withstood the French attacks all day, finally repulsing even Napoleon’s elite Imperial Guard. Between the 16th and 18th June 1815, the 33rd suffered a total of 277 casualties from a strength of 561, almost half their men.
Flanders 1795, Isle de Bourbon 1810, 100 days campaign, Quatres Bras, Waterloo 1815.

1852: The First Duke of Wellington dies; The following year, on the 18th of June 1853, the first anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo following his death, the title of '33rd The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment” was conferred on the 33rd Regiment by Queen Victoria, due to the Duke’s long and close personal connection with the Regiment.

Crimean War: Alma, Inkerman 1854, Sevastopol 1855.

The Indian Mutiny: 1857 -1858

Abyssinia: 1867 The 33rd remained in India until 1867 after the mutiny. In that year a punative expeditionary force was formed to rescue two British Government representatives and several European missionaries who had been imprisoned by King Theodore, the half insane ruler of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). The 33rd led the attack storming Magdala and in the process received two VC’s. The Regiment was also granted the Battle Honour ‘Abyssinia’ and awarded a campaign medal. This was the last occasion the 33rd carried their Colours into action.

Childer Reforms 1881: The 33rd and 76th Regiments of Foot, along with two battalions of 6th West York Militia, are amalgamated to form 'The Duke of Wellington's Regiment' (four battalions), the 33rd becoming the 1st Battalion.

South Africa: In 1900 the 1st Battalion DoW arrived in South Africa from where it was soon sent forward as part of the force whose task was first to relieve Kimberley and then to capture the Boer capitals at Bloemfontein and Pretoria. The Boers were forced to give battle at Paardeberg on 18th February where, after being besieged for ten days, 4,000 Boers were obliged to surrender. This was the first major defeat for the Boers and a turning point in the war.
Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, South Africa 1900–02

First World War: The 2nd Battalion, was fully operational in France by 18th August shortly after the outbreak of war. On 24th August six German divisions came up against the two divisions of II Corps at Mons. Despite their overwhelming superiority the German attack crumbled in the face of the superb musketry of regiments of the 3rd and 5th Divisions. Mons was followed by a retreat towards Paris but the tide was turned at the Marne and the Germans withdrew. Now began ‘the race to the sea’ as each army tried to outflank the other. At Ypres, during October and November, a desperate battle was fought as the Germans tried to break through to Calais. They were stopped but the British battalions were, by then, down to a quarter of their strength. The old regular army had effectively died at Ypres, but it had set a superb example of skill and bravery for new armies which were being raised in the UK at that time to follow.

Third Anglo-Afghan War: Afghanistan 1919.

2nd World War: Immediately as war broke out the 1st Battalion DoW was sent to France, where little happened until May 1940, when the Germans attacked. In the ensuing retreat to Dunkirk the 1st Battalion formed part of the rearguard covering the embarkation of the BEF. In 1942 the battalion landed in North Africa and took part in several battles, notably at Djebel Bou Aoukaz in 1943. The following year it participated in the landing at Anzio and subsequently saw some of the most desperate fighting of the war, particularly at Monte Ceco in October 1944, where Private Richard Burton was awarded a VC.

Korea: The 1st Battalion had set sail for Korea in 1952, as a result of the United Nations decision to support the United States in resisting the invasion of South Korea, by its Communist neighbours from the North. The Battalion found themselves in the front line on May 13, With the Battalion occupying a position called the Hook. Virtually from Day one the regiment was under fire from snipers, mortars and artillery, continuing for eight days. On the night of the 28th/29th May, following a huge artillery barrage, swarms of Chinese troops attacked the British positions on the Hook. Initially knocked back the Dukes fought back fiercely to recapture their positions. Being highly trained and aware of the importance of their position, 1st Battalion kept their heads and held the Chinese off. During the time on the Hook three officers and 17 ranks were killed, 95 men were wounded and 32 were reported missing. 'My God those Dukes were marvellous.  In the whole of the last war I never saw anything like that bombardment.  But they held the Hook, as I knew they would' said Brigadier Kendrew.
The Hook 1953, Korea 1952–53.

Iraq: Iraq 2003 (Theatre Honour).

Yorkshire Regiment: In 2003 the Duke of Wellington's Regiment was amalgamated with the Green Howards (19th) and Prince of Wales Own Yorkshire (14th & 15th), to form the Yorkshire Regiment. Initially the 33rd branch of this Regiment survived as the 3rd battalion, later renumbered in 2020 back to the 1st battalion. In 1990 General Sir Charles Huxtable wrote, after vacating the colonelcy: 'We are not a smart, social regiment. We do not seek to be ever in the headlines. We do not pretend to have some special expertise. Indeed, perhaps what makes us special is that we do not seek to be any of those things. We are ordinary, straightforward folk who stick together. We have in the duke’s, some of the best soldiers in the world. I would back the duke’s soldier – the good, honest, straight forward, hardworking Yorkshireman – against any soldiers in the world.'

In the 33rd we keep our casual and competitive organisations entirely separate, enabling our members to choose what they wish to play in both scenes. Currently our Infantry field an A team, B team and Tournament team. The B team (The Invalids) is a stepping stone for new players to the scene whilst A team is for our most experienced players, both combining together for larger matches. The Tournament team (SubV) is specifically for our most dedicated players whom are not already involved in another groupfighting team in the wider community. Our cavalry team is comprised of our entire cavalry troop, plus any players who enjoy cavalry from elsewhere in the regiment.

Events: EU / 92nd & 33rd Sunday Flag-Spawning Event [EU]
« on: June 29, 2021, 01:17:26 pm »

As the 92nd now no longer host the other server of this event, this thread will now be closed. A huge thankyou to the 92nd and 33rd members, whom without their hard work and dedication, this event would not have been possible. After a year and a half of hosting the 33rd event will run on it's own again, with sign-ups our original thread which can be found here.

When - 19:00 (UK) Sunday

Where - 92nd Sunday Event & 33rd Sunday Event

The 92nd and 33rd Regiments of Foot are proud to Host our New Sunday LineBattle, taking place every Sunday from 19:00 lasting until 20:00 (UK time). The intention with this event is to offer the community a new innovative LineBattle event which keeps each regiments members in the action and out of spec! Events will involve rounds played in a scripted version of battle, whereby members of regiments will respawn on their units flag bearer with the number of times each side can continue respawning based on a ticket system.

Events will consist of 2 Rounds played on large fleshed out maps utilizing 2 servers, one hosted by the 92nd and the other by the 33rd.

Minimal specials with only Lights and Cavalry on both servers, with a single unit of Rifles and Artillery which will have to choose which server they support.

Server scripts allow regiment members to respawn with their unit provided that their regimental standard is held and supported by at least 4 friendly players nearby.

These scripts make each unit on the battlefield a more permanent fixture, requiring more careful and coordinated attacks to eliminate entire regiments.

Capturing enemy standards will reward your team by removing a vast amount of enemy tickets, swinging the engagement in your favour.

Map Selection consists of a variety of custom maps from both the 33rd and 92nd servers.

Every few months the event will play-out a campaign scenario using specific maps.

Swapping servers mid event will be possible to ensure victory for your team throughout the event.

Sign ups will be made on this forum however the final confirmation of attendance and giving out of the password will be handled on steam, therefore it is essential that you Add [92nd]Wolffe or [33rd]Kincaid on Steam!

Details on the New Gamemode

We have created a new gamemode where players are able to respawn on their regiments flag. This opens the battlegrounds up for longer rounds, different playstyles, teamwork between regiments and more action in general.

How does it work?

Each team will have a X amount of tickets to spent. You take away enemy tickets by killing them and taking their flags/standards, line infantry will use up 1 ticket to respawn, light infantry 2, rifles and cavalry 4 (these may change depending on how things are going), capturing the enemies standard or colours takes away 25 tickets. When the tickets run out you will no longer be able to respawn and you'll stay dead until the end of the round.

Now, how do you respawn on your units flag?

In order to respawn on your regimental standard or colours it must be held by a friendly player of your unit, doesn't matter which class he is playing as. The flag must also be around 3 other friendly players (approx. 5 meters). When the flag is dropped or is not around 3 friendly units you will have to wait until it is picked up and around 3 friendlies again or until the enemy captures it. If you lose your flag to the enemy or in any other way you and your unit will respawn at the main spawn and the ensign/eagle bearer will be able to respawn with a new flag.

How will the Campaign work?

At the start of each week the next events conflict will be posted here, showing the attack path of 3 divisions of French or Allied troops. Each path of attack represents one server, with battle commencing at the end of the first arrow. Depending on which side wins this round will dictate whether the attackers push deeper into enemy territory (2nd arrow) or retreat back and fight on their own turf. Over the course of the week before the event, participants can choose which server they are playing in or wait to be assigned, which will be announced the day before the event. This will result in a serious shake up of the composition of each server each week, as classes will not necessarily be distributed evenly. All maps will be played using our flag-spawning game mode, but please be aware that the siege maps will therefore be largely experimental - we don't know how well this game mode will work on traditional siege maps so bear with us for the first couple of events!

Events: EU / 33rd Anniversary Event [EU] 9 years!
« on: June 04, 2021, 07:28:13 pm »

| 27th June 2021 | 18:45 - 20:00BST |

In celebration of our 9 year anniversary the 33rd will be hosting a one-off event, of a scale which we have not attempted before; The event will be based around the iconic battle of Waterloo and consist of 3 servers, aiming to accomodate between 500-600 people for an event lasting around an hour. This is a step up from our event last year, as we will be running the three servers in parrallel; it should however solve some of the issues from the last one, mimizing on server swapping and allowing round/map changes to occur immediately as rounds end.

The concept of the event is to have three servers running the full course of the event, each focusing on a different area of the battlefield. Each server will begin on either Battle or Siege, then each go their own route depending on the victor of the previous round. Normal rounds will go back and forth between Battles and Siege, with more specific RP rounds occurring half way through and at the end of the event. Initial balancing of each faction will be performed by us as hosts but the distribution of each factions regiments across each server will be discussed and carried out by the team themselves, each having their own groupchat when the event begins. It will then be the responsibility of those regiments to communicate with each other and potentially swap various regiments, to affect the outcome of rounds in each server as any wins will score the factions points which will be totalled up at the end of the event.

Any regiment can apply for this event but please note that specific regiments have been privately invited whom will have priority to attend should they wish to. If there is space once these regiments have responded we will accept any other applications here, on a first come first served basis.

| The Event at a glance |

Three seperate event servers (160-200 players each) to play out the battle, each focusing on a different area.

The two factions will distribute themselves across the three servers, swapping as they wish. As such round and mode changes will be swift with no balancing required to be carried out by the admin.

Rounds won go towards a central score board which will determine the winning faction.

Map Selection for each server will consist of 3 specific maps to that server, plus two RP round maps to be used half way through the event and at the end.

Rounds will be kept short with 'all charges' being called (if necessary) no later than 53:00 for Battle and 10min timers for Sieges.

Ranged damage reduction scripts are in place (70%) to increase the punishment double rank lines can take before they take excessive casualties.
(enables lines to use some more RP manoeuvres or to more comfortably push melee where they wish to, also makes siege more melee focused)

| Server 1 |

The right flank of the Allied position is the first to be heavily engaged, with Jerome's divison attacking the orchard in front of Hougoumont farmhouse at 11:30. As such this server will begin in Battle.

At approximately half-time (19:15) this server will play out the Prince of Orange's Blunder, with the 5thKGL moving forward to the centre of the battlfield in an attempt to relieve the encircled farmhouse of La Haye Sainte, only to be caught in line by French cavalry.

| Server 2 |

The centre of the Allied position is engaged around midday, with D'Erlons corps advancing across the plain to hammer through the allied line in one swift blow. As such this server will begin in Battle on the allied ridge.

At approximately half-time (19:15) this server will play out the Charge of the Union Brigade, with the Scots Greys charging across the field through D'erlons corps and attacking the French guns. They are swifty counter-attacked by fresh Lancers.

Charge of the Union Brigade

Play will then continue with the Battle/Siege back and forth until approximately 19:40, when all parts of the British line (all servers) pull back and form square, to recieve Ney's Cavalry Charge.

After this round please stay on for the server for 5mins for a quick form-up and screenshot!

| Server 3 |

The left of the Allied position is engaged around midday, with the right wing of D'Erlons corps encountering numerous defended farmhouses. As such this server will begin in Siege with the defence of Papelotte.

Each event a different team will be given the first opportunity to open the campaign with an 'organised attack' of their choice from the list below. All of these gamemodes includes a subtle change to the round, giving the attacker some form of advantage:

| Night attack | Attackers catch the defending team whilst encamped, defenders distribute pickets and their team is dangerously dispersed. Defenders can only start to mobilize their team when the attackers are spotted.

| Ambush | Attackers catch the defending team on the march, defenders are strung out as they move through the terrain and can respond to attacker when first shots are fired or are clearly visible.

| Escalade | Attackers choose to attack a fortified position with ladders, defenders have reduced lives but the attackers may not utilize any existing breaches or artillery the map may usually offer.

After this initial round, play continues with whoever won the last round continuing their offensive, choosing a new territory to attack.

The victor is given 30 seconds after rounds end to provide which territory they will attack, if the admin does not receive this within the given time a territory will be decided on their behalf to keep the event moving.

Play continues until 20:00GMT, the map on this thread being updated after the event has finished.

Events: EU / 33rd Anniversary Event [EU] 8 years!
« on: June 15, 2020, 08:42:31 pm »

| 28th June | 18:15 - 20:00BST |

In celebration of our 8 year anniversary the 33rd will be hosting a one-off event, of a scale which we have not attempted before; The event will be based around the iconic battle of Waterloo and consist of 2-3 servers, aiming to accomodate between 300-400 people for an event lasting around 90 minutes. The concept of the event is to have one server running a conquest map encompassing the whole battlefiled which will run for the entire duration of the event, with one or two other servers representing more specific engagements from the battle to be played in more detail. The participanting regiments in both the main battle and the specific engagements will be fluid and change throughout the event, moving between servers to play different gamemodes, keeping the expereince interesting and engaging. throughout! These specific actions will also have an impact on the main conquest, as the winners of each will earn 100 extra points for their team (added mid-round using scripts), potentially swinging the main battle in their teams favour.

Any regiment can apply for this event but please note that specific regiments have been privately invited whom will have priority to attend should they wish to. If there is space once these regiments have responded we will accept any other applications.

1 | Hougoumont

Normal Siege
The battle having been delayed for many hours by the waterlogged ground, Jerome's Division attacks the allied right at 11:30, intending to draw reserves from Wellingtons' Centre. As the anchor of Wellingtons right flank, holding this farmhouse will be critical. A bitter struggle ensues as it becomes clear to the French that the British Coldstream guards will defend the farmhouse to the last man...

4 | Union Brigade

Admin Battle - both teams form up as directed by admins
Wtih D'erlon's offensive making headway in the centre, Wellington commits his Household and Heavy Cavalry brigades, scattering the French Infantry. In their thirst for glory however the brave horseman continue pursuit to the French side of the valley, intending to take the enemy gun positions. The british cavalry are by now blown, exhausted and in a precarious position should they be counter-charged...

5 | La Haye Sainte

Normal Siege
Like Hougoumont on the right, the defence of La Haye Sainte in the centre will prove decisive to the British defence; If captured Napoleon will use farmhouse as an anchor from which to break Wellington's centre. 6 | Plancenoit

Normal Siege

7 | Ney's Charge

Hold the Square (Siege) - UK have 2 minutes to form square
Believing the British centre to be sufficiently weakened and mistaking the movement of wounded to the rear as full retreat, Marshal Ney commits the French Cavalry reserves to an all-out offensive. Regardless of Ney's misinterpretation of the events, the thundering hooves of the best cavalry France has to offer may prove enough to hammer Wellingtons centre into submission...

8 | The Guard Advance

Normal Battle
La Haye Sainte finally succumbs to French attacks in the centre and in the wake of its fall Napoleon commits his Imperial Guard to the perilously frail allied Centre...

Events: EU / 33rd Sunday Event [EU]
« on: March 04, 2013, 12:34:35 am »
When - 19:00 (UK) Sunday, weekly

Where - 33rd_Sunday_Event

The 33rd Regiment of foot is proud to host it's Sunday Line Battle, which will occur every Sunday, every week. The event will be hosted on our server at 19:00UK and will contain between 140-200 players each event. The event will include Line Infantry, Light Infantry, Cavalry  and Artillery. The intention with this event is to offer the community a new innovative LineBattle event, which keeps each regiments members in the action and out of spec! Events will involve rounds played in a scripted version of battle, whereby members of regiments will respawn on their units flag bearer with the number of times each side can continue respawning based on a ticket system.

Events will consist of 2 Rounds played on large fleshed out & complex maps.

Map Selection consists of a wide variety of 60 custom maps from our Sunday Event server.

Credit to the 92nd Regiment of Foot (Wolffe) for pioneering this exciting new gamemode
