Go to Settings bottom right hand corner and click over to "video capture"

Pick a key to capture and end video. I use F11

Pick a folder for the captured video to go. I created a new folder in my videos called NW capture. Run a few tests and let er rip.

Quality of video? Tinker around with the video capture settings in that window. I can't tell you anything specific since Im not familiar with your comp.

I played in pub for a few hours tbh. Messed with the settings. Then found a pre-set I liked.

I recommend Fraps due to it better video quality, and its simple layout. If you don't have the space for the files you can record straight into an external hard drive etc. It also increases my FPS when I do that.

I used to use Fraps.  2 full hard drives later....

I use Bandicam now.  The files are waaaaaaaaay smaller...im talking...15 minutes with Fraps=4GB, 15minutes with Bandicam=like 15mb or something ridiculous.  So...with Fraps, recording an entire evening was like half my harddrive.

Now, as far as HD files...I dunno... I record at 30fps anyway, and the pictures come out just fine.  Type in "00th" on Youtube and you can see if you notice any the difference from the beginning to the end of my video collection.

I have not noticed ANY difference bewteen Fraps and Bandicam besides the gigantic file sizes of Fraps.

I just wish I'd noticed this thread a lot earlier.  Hope this helps!!

Im thinking of sticking a GoPro to my head while playing, should be the most immersive experience.

Great thread.  Searched awhile back for advice, and didn't really find anything besides the Fraps/MovieMaker combo. I spent $ buying Fraps and have been pleased with it, but it is an HD hog and had to stop recording 'cause I ran outta HD space.  Also, an external USB HD caused a LOT of lag when recording with Fraps, so had to abandon that idea.

With my interest piqued, here's quick research I did about Afterburner & Vegas.

Afterburner is a video card performance booster app that includes the Predator video capture appPredator appears to be "Free on any MSI graphics card" per the site.  Will have to check my card's brand now, if not MSI, then it won't be free I guess.

Sony Vegas seems to cost money.  The site had an error so I couldn't really find the details.  Other sites had downloads available so perhaps there's a 'free' trial or non-Pro version available to use?  Not sure for now.

Bandi-cam lets you record in (15?) 30 minute intervals for FREE....it just sticks a "Bandicam" watermark over the top part of the video.

So you really have nothing to loose by checking it out.

I recorded several events for NW as well as Native. I do use Fraps and have had no problem with it. Some main issues with Fraps are: Overly Sized Files (Which can easily be cut down), and when recording Fraps you can drop up to 20 FPS (It does not affect me much but for those who are running on the edge of 30-40 FPS it could be bad.)

When I am done recording I use the program called VideoPad Video Editor to edit my Fraps recordings as well as slides and intro clips, then save it to my computer's video file. When saving a video it gives you the option to save, burn or send directly to youtube. Event better it gives you the option of what type of file you would like to convert it to, ex. .mov, .avi, .mp4 etc. You can also choose what resolution (1080p HD all day everyday ;D ).

Video Example made entirely with Fraps and VideoPad:

Fraps is better in my opinion because even though the file sizes are larger the quality of the video looks better to me and the file sizes get much smaller when you render it out
