The Mess Hall / Godfreid Exposed
« on: May 30, 2018, 05:18:08 am »

Ladies and Gentleman, I come to the forums today with grave news. While we knew there are those among us like Risk, who are most assuredly Weaboos, the plague is worse than we thought.

Godfreid's thin veil that he once upheld to mask his Japanese inclinations, has been lifted.

In fact, so shameless was he, that he invited me to spread the word.

Remember; Trust nobody. Anyone could be a weaboo. Your friends, your regiment, even your Colonel. This has been a Public Service Announcement.

ALL TIME MELEE
__________________________________
Spoiler
96v Jackie Chan of the 71st and 12th | Indisputably the most dominant player of 2014 along as one of the most well known players in both EU and NA. A very flexible player who is good at everything but most notable for his chambering.

95v Tammo of the 12th | The champion of the first major duel tournament in NA, another very flexible player who has a lot of strengths and not alot of weaknesses. A key player to the success of the 2ndQF and the 12th.

94^ AsianP of the 3eVolt | Debate-ably the most well rounded player in the whole community, AsianP has been a top tier groupfighter, duelist, and leader for the entirety of NW's history.

93 AP0CALYPS3 of the 3eVolt, 9y, and 18th | One of the most dominant players of 2013 and one of the first players to really grasp block-chambering, Apoc has always been a tough duelist to go against.

93^ Havoc of the 12th | A great duelist who achieved success in duel tournaments early in NW's history, one of the first to really get a good grip on chambering as well as being a very intelligent groupfighter.

92^ Maple of the 3eVolt and 18th | Following a style of melee similar to Jackie's, utilizes a high-risk style heavily reliant on chambers to deadly effect.

92v RitZ of the 3eVolt and 12th | A fairly well rounded duelist, however in place of chambers he uses turkish kicks as his go-to weapon of choice.

92^ Godfreid of the 98e | One of the toughest and hard to kill players in NW, Godfreid never goes down easy.

91^ Who- of the 12th | One of the most underrated players of all time, is consistently better than Ghost.

90^ Lithios of the 9y | The pioneer of the 'double x', known for his incredible feinting ability and intelligent groupfighting.

90v Coconut of the 1stFKI and 12th | A great, well rounded player and one of the best players in the 1stFKI and the 12th. Somewhat underrated and less well known, as he led a fairly quiet NW career under the shadow of some of the best players in the game in the legendary regiments he was a part of.

75 (PSG) Windflower
75 (3eVolt) Nova Poison
74 (14th) Wardop/Deg
74 (27th) Newkirk
74 (79th) Armystrong

Reasoning
Karth/Offizer
They are not the greatest regiment of all time in terms of skill, but I'd say their leaders might be. Even with low melee skill the 63e can dominate other regiments as the leaders pretty excellent tactically.
[close]
Tico/Breaches
These guys held the spot of best regiment for at least 3 years straight. However they always have had some of the best meleers in the game, so we don't know what the regiment might have been like with less skilled melee. Because of that they are slightly below Karth/Offizer.
[close]
AsianP
Old school leader known universally, every regiment he leads will compete for top 3 regiments, and has held top 1 most notably during the 79th days. Has always had some of the best melee players in the game, so like Tico+Breaches, I put Asian below Karth.
[close]
Grimsight
Lead only contending regiment against the 12th during their reign. Pioneered some new tactics that you see used in every 1v1 these days.
[close]

CheeseyPants
Cheesey lead his regiment to be the top regiment for a short period of time and won Season 3 NWL. However things slowed down after some key melee players went inactive/left.
[close]
Lawbringer
Lawbringer created a very serious contending regiment, springing up almost out of no where. They did well under his leadership, I would note that they had some very very good melee players to rely on however (Many of their regulars came from a native clan)
[close]
Alexander
Won the TNWL with some great leading. Would have to see them reign longer to be higher on this list though.
[close]
Stox
Stox wasn't very interested in competitive linebattle, it was more Locust & DrBYeByes doing. Regardless they did quite well in 1v1s. Note that they did have a huge amount of players to choose from for their 1v1s.
[close]
Millander
One of the great leaders of the early days of NW, and lead the guys who created the 9y. However there wasn't as much of a focus on 1v1s so we can't know how he would do these days.
[close]
Ody
Through all the hate he gets, hes a decent leader. Crutched on melee during some periods though.

Competitive NA Events/Tournaments / NA Melee Coaching Competition!
« on: September 24, 2016, 10:35:06 pm »
Who is the best coach NA?

The goal of this competition is simple: To strengthen the regiments whos recruits participate in the competition, and to expand the roster of competitive players in the community. I will go around to various big regiments and ask if they would be willing to put some fresh, new players who have not yet learned the finer points of melee, under our care. Then, I will assign them out to various trainers who will then train them for a month. At the end of the month, I will host two tournaments, a dueling tourny and a groupfighting tourny. The trainer who's trainees perform the best, wins! Simple as that.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A TRAINER

-Must have a working Mic

-Must be mature

-Over 1000 hours on Warband

-Competitive Experience in Tournaments and Linebattles

-NO RECRUITING TRAINEES WHO ALREADY HAVE A REGIMENT. DOING SO WILL GET YOU BANNED FROM THIS EVENT, AND ANY OTHER EVENT I MAY HOST IN THE FUTURE.

SIGNUPS:

Note: If you are a regimental leader interested in signing up some of your recruits, go right ahead. Just make sure they are willing to do it.

North American NW News!

Update: 10/31/2016 - A New Era?

TNWL Final

71st 5 - 5 58e (Full time)

71st 7 - 7 58e (Overtime)

71st 9 - 8 58e (Double OT)

Probably one of the closest matches in NW history, it was an even match right up to the finish. The score after 10 rounds was an even 5-5, with the BO4 overtime ending at 2-2, leading to double OT for the first time in NW history. During the 17th round in double OT, score 8-8, the melee was dead even. A 13 vs. 13 melee led to a 3 vs. 3 between AP0C, Lawbringer, and Wencosa vs. Tammo, Papajohns, and Boob. After a brief stare down, a push into the middle from Wencosa went wrong, ending up in a swift death at the hands of Tammo, leading to the collapse of the other two 58e players. Thus, the 71st were crowned TNWL champs..

Maple's Weekly 1v1

Well, here is where I would put the bracket for that tournament, except Maple deleted it like the scrub he is.

Basically, the prophet Cade won, bow before his might. Think Raf got 2nd.

Maple got rekt by Nickcole 5-4

[close]

Theodin's 3v3

1st: P A S S I O N (Ap0c, Maple, Alex)

2nd: thREE (PJ, Vortex, Swerp)

3rd: Les Deplorables (Saltyy, Russianfury, Achilles)

http://challonge.com/theos3v3

The 3v3 tournament started off rough for the would-be 1st and 2nd place teams. P A S S I O N got demolished and sent to the loser's bracket early 1-5 to Les Deplorables, and thREE BARELY scraped by A few native plebs 5-4. After that, both teams kicked it into gear and notched blowout wins against all other teams until the finals, where thREE was defeated 2-7 at the hands of P A S S I O N.

Also, Maple went 0-5 first round vs. Deplorables. Just thought I should note this because Maple is bad and deleted the 1v1 bracket.

In-Form Players

1. Cade ↑ (Prev #9)

2. Russianfury ↑ (Prev #6)

3. AsianP ↑ (Prev #5)

4. Godfreid ↓ (Prev #3)

5. Pinoy ↓(Prev #2)

6. PJ ↓ (Prev #4)

7. Maple ↓ (Prev #1)

8. Tammo →

9. Rafael ↑ (Prev Unranked)

10. AP0C ↑ (Prev Unranked)

Just a note, this list is based on recent performance.

Cade has been performing well in tournaments lately, netting a win in a 1v1 and a runner up in a 2v2 tournament. Probably the best form he has ever been in.

Russianfury has also been performing well recently, at the 3v3, 2v2 along with Cade, and most recently TNWL final. Deserving of a #2 spot in form, imo.

AsianP has also been performing well, dropping massive amounts of frags at the TNWL final (when he made into melee) and at the groupfight vs. the 32e. Easily one of the most deadly players out there right now.

Godfreid I dropped a spot, not so much due to bad performance, but due to lack of performance for the most part, compared to the people above him. Same for Pinoy

Maple has been severely under performing lately, and is no longer worthy of the #1 spot. Still, quite a lethal player and not entirely out of form so he can stay at #7.

PJ is a good performer, but I feel like other players are in better form right now, so he gets #6.

As for Raf and AP0C, I would say good all around performance has warranted a promotion into the top 10 for now.

Top Regiments

1 - ♣1er Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne♣ (AsianP)

2. 32e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne "L'invincible" (Super)

3. 30th (Cambridgeshire) Regiment of Foot "The Triple X's" 2.0 (PurplePanda)

4. 78th Rosshire 'Buffs' Highlanders (Nappy Surena)

5. 63ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne (Karth)

6. American Expeditionary Force (Anthony)

7. U.S. Marine Corps (Our lord, Glenn)

8. 23rd Regiment of Foot "Royal Welsh Fusiliers" (Dodge)

Now here is where the mayhem begins. The 58e and 71st disbanded after the TNWL, along with the 75th most likely just going MIA so

Also won't do the whole (Prev #) thing because I basically had to scrap the whole last list.

Community Representative Election

So I decided to ask our representative hopefuls two questions:

1. What problems do you see in the community?

2. What do you plan to do as CR?

Here are their responses:

Gluk

I see a dying community that needs revival. I see people who argue and bicker instead of actually trying to do anything about it.

As CR, everything I would do would be to revive the NA community. The most important thing on that is to bring back NA1. In addition, we need more regiments which can hopefully be done by bringing back NA1. We need more events so people have a reason to stay in the community. Events are the lifeblood of the community, and the more we have, the better.
[close]

Aurum

There are multiple problems within the community that mainly stem from a single problem - the fact that the overall playercount of the community has been dwindling rapidly. You may ask yourself, well how can 1 single problem such as this cause so many other problems for the community as a whole? Well, with a lack of fresh and committed members variety and quality as a whole dwindles. The lack of Tournaments, Players signing up and Regiments signing up proves this. A simple tournament can struggle to even start nowadays, and if it does interest starts to die off. If there is not enough committed players to sustain for the casual players, than the whole community itself will eventually crumble. Not only that, but in my opinion a good bit of the drama between regiments stems from the fact that there is virtually no variance and new people to play agaisnt. Rivalries are able to thrive and manifest themself into bigger, more toxic arguments and eventually spread to more and more regiments which is why we need more people. Fresh people to play agaisnt, to learn with and to experience fun times with. I genuinely believe, that this is the most dire problem the community has to face today.

I plan on doing something along the lines of what Gluk wants to do and that is deal with the playercount of the game and try to revitalize interest in it and events. I have been offered the opportunity to host events on NA_Assault and with that opportunity I plan on: Hosting Regiment drives (Getting some small regiments to come on and recruit), Potentially getting large, Historical-game and M&B youtubers to play and record videos on the server in order to show the game in a new light and get some interested sparked anew. On top of this I also plan to do an Individual tournament based off of my first tournament that finished not too long ago. Lastly, I plan on continuing the work of Ap0c and others with keeping the forums clean and relations between players and regiments clean and peaceful. This is a general overview of what I plan on doing.
[close]

Orcaryo

Right now I feel the game is too focused on the competitive portion, causing the normal line battle to be forgotten and ignored. I plan to promote casual line battles, while still helping the competitive side of NW grow. I will do this by moving the date of the NA1 line battle to a date that suits regiments, such as Sunday. I also plan to begin hosting monthly tournaments, rotating each month between duel tournaments, group fighting tournaments, and regimental group fighting tournaments. I will also try to introduce a new tournament called “Regimental 3v3.” The name can be altered to fit the amount of regiments; 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, etc. Basically what this will be is like a normal line battle scenario, lines of about 15-20 players are sorted into teams of 3/4/5 and battle it out in the old school line battle style. This will promote cooperation between regiments, while being able to avoid the lag in traditional line battle events. The ideal population of each team in this event will be 45-60, never exceeding 70 per team. General NANWL rules will still apply. Teams will be formed before the tournament by regiment leaders. You could almost think of this as another group fighting tournament, except on a much larger scale, and with firing allowed, if that makes sense(even though it probably doesn’t). On a side note I also plan to help rebuild the pub regiment will the help of a few NA1 admins, who I would like to have attend not only the NA1 event, but various events throughout the week.

I plan to try to create a set of trusted moderators for NANWL, in order to avoid having a stacked group of moderators(not referees) from one regiment. Having a small break period of 2-4 weeks between seasons is fine, but having almost 6 months pass without another season starting is unacceptable and unfair to the North American community. I already have certain moderators in mind and you can feel free to ask me who they are through steam. In terms of TNWL, I would like to help, but that is entirely up to Jorge as he is the event organizer and he is the one supplying the money for the tournament.

Recently certain lists have come up ranking players/regiments. I am for these lists, but would like to see them run by more than one person. Don’t get me wrong, I feel AP0C/Godfried have done a very good job of maintaining these lists, and in an unbiased manner as well. I just would like to have more than one person’s opinion on them. Therefore, I plan to create an unofficial ranking list, formulated by multiple veterans of the community. Additionally, I plan to allow the #1 spot in each list to be chosen by the community, through polling. Again, I already have certain players in mind to help me with this and I would be happy to let you know who they are through steam.

A1a) Firstly, the biggest problem I see is that the competitive community is lacking fresh competition. I don't believe that it's regiments lack of desire to be competitive so much as ignorance to the community.
1b)I believe we don't have enough fun pub servers. Servers where both competitive and casual players can play together.
1c)I believe the community needs more competition both for regiments and individuals.

A2a) Now I believe Gluk has somewhat the right idea with his 'Bring back NA1' but I disagree with actually bringing back NA1 (I hated that server, singlehandedly killed my desire to pub). What I'd like to do instead is work with members of the community to open up multiple pub servers, 1 on battle like NA1, but improving on things that I viewed as annoyances from NA1 (like combat speed being on medium), another on TDM, DM, Siege, Naval Battle. I will, of course, commit my own server to this.
The purpose of these servers are of course to promote competitive players to mix with pub players etc, and to advertise the larger community to smaller regiments/pub players.
Recruitment on these servers would be open to any regiment that allows recruitment on their own servers.
2b)I'd like to bring back PUGs
2c) I'd like to host some competitions that can include both non-competitive and competitive players/regiments, starting hopefully with bringing back your coaching competition.
2d)I'd like to host a bi-weekly tournament targetted towards both comp and non-comp players, this will be explained better when I set it up.

Community Representative Board / Community Rep Thread (September-October)
« on: September 04, 2016, 01:14:50 pm »
Heya my NA buddies

For my term, I think I will mix things up abit as far as the update thread goes.

The purpose of this thread (or at least, my part of it, riddlez may use it differently) is just so people can notify me of whatever they feel needs my attention, or if some event worthy of discussion happens.

I do plan to host some events like my predecessors, but instead of posting about it here (where not alot of people lurk, it seems) I will just seek out people who I feel may be interested in said events.

My preferred method of contact will remain steam, however, and if you really need a response from me just add me! (Steam name is my name!)

Thanks

AP0C

Death Is Not an Escape.

Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed.

Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey.

The Survivors' goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer - something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play.

More information about the game is available at www.deadbydaylight.com
Key Features
•   Survive Together… Or Not - Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish. Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone. Will you be able to outwit the Killer and escape their Killing Ground?

•   Where Am I? - Each level is procedurally generated, so you’ll never know what to expect. Random spawn points mean you will never feel safe as the world and its danger change every time you play.

•   A Feast for Killers - Dead by Daylight draws from all corners of the horror world. As a Killer you can play as anything from a powerful Slasher to terrifying paranormal entities. Familiarize yourself with your Killing Grounds and master each Killer’s unique power to be able to hunt, catch and sacrifice your victims.

•   Deeper and Deeper - Each Killer and Survivor has their own deep progression system and plenty of unlockables that can be customized to fit your own personal strategy. Experience, skills and understanding of the environment are key to being able to hunt or outwit the Killer.

•   Real People, Real Fear - The procedural levels and real human reactions to pure horror makes each game session an unexpected scenario. You will never be able to tell how it’s going to turn out. Ambience, music, and chilling environments combine into a terrifying experience. With enough time, you might even discover what’s hiding in the fog.

Hearts of Iron 4 Team Claymatch!

Rules
- Each session, players will vote on two different modes: Free Mode and Tournament Mode

- Free Mode: In free mode, anything goes. There can be any number of teams, players can do whatever they choose to do, and the only restriction is don't be a dick. Players may choose to mutually agree on a set of rules at the start, and those rules shall be treated as actual rules, but outside of that there are no restrictions.

-Tournament Mode:

In tournament mode, players will either divide themselves or be divided into two teams with roughly equal numerical score (discussed more in the 'Nations' section).

Players MAY NOT influence other player's politics without permission. However, AI and Puppets are free game.

Players MAY NOT switch teams unless both teams grant permission.

Players MAY NOT switch countries once the game has started unless both teams grant permission. Players may sub in for absent/leaving players without the permission of the other team (still requires own team's permission)

Sign Ups

NOTE: If you want to do multiple future sessions and are signing up for the steam group, you MAY ONLY reserve nations for one session at a time (I.E Once this next session is complete, you must reserve your desired country again). Priority for countries goes in the following order: Reserved -> Primary -> Secondary -> Signed up -> Not signed up. (Your primary and secondary country priority are determined when signing up for the steam group). So while it is still possible for you to show up without reserving a country or even signing up, it still is reccomended.

Date and Time
The game will aim to take place every sunday at around 7-8 EST (Will definitely be flexible the first few times, just let me know if this time doesnt work)

Nations

I have assigned a numerical score from 2 to 10 (2 being the minimum strength i think a player controlled country has) to each country in order to better balance games should people wish. The score is roughly my opinion of a countries' potential strength and impact on a game when in the hands of a good player. If you disagree with a particular score, please say so in a reply.

Soviet Union - 10

Community / NA Community Poll
« on: January 04, 2016, 03:42:49 am »
After a very heated discussion in the 7NA teamspeak, which just left me even more infuriated, I was wondering what the community thought?

Consider this a petition to reverse Shadow's decision.

About me: Hi all, I'm Lawbringer! I have been in this community for 3 years now and love NW! I am a Senior in highschool and probably should be doing something better than spending all my time on this game lol. I participate in Varsity Water Polo on my high school team. My dream is to become a professional Shadow Monarch of Earth and rename it to Promethia, then build a galactic empire. I watch anime but not a whole lot. I am addicted to Iphone games (It's all Moist_Pants, Rawshafthitler and I do at school gg Brave Frontier+Puzzle&Dragons FTW). I listen to whatever is on the radio but I do like some nightcores.

I have been in regiments such as the 63e, 3eVolt, 1erLigne, 18th, Nr37, lead 58e and the Neo-91st. I love new friends if u aren't an fegit. I was a referee of the NANWL for around 3 Seasons and love to help the community grow, so ya. Swag  :o I love cuties

About me: Ello. Im AP0C. Most of you might already know me, but if you dont, thats alright. Before I played NW, I spent most of my time on WFaS and played in alot of scrims there. When NW came out, I spent most of my time there, joining the 3eVolt under AsianP and sticking with that for the first year or so. Eventually, I made my own regiment, the 7thRFG, which later merged into the 7thRF. After I left the 7thRF due to internal issues, I ended up joining the 9y and stuck with them for sometime before later joining the 18th and then the 58e (of course, this history is a short version, and im leaving out many instances of me leaving/rejoining the 3e or other smaller regiments). Besides that, I have competed in alot of tournaments and I think I have made a decent name for myself in the community.

TeamSpeak:

Website: WIP

If you would like to organise an event with the crew of the HMS Victory or talk to one of its members or officers then either add the Steam links above or come to the TeamSpeak and talk there. Also if you are a member of the regiment you are expected to have the officers on steam.

Thanks to Lawbringer for letting me practically copy the 58e/91st thread (and through that, Herishey, who provided that thread template). Also, thanks to Bravescot for a few icons.
