Interesting, I'll PM you something to help with some of the non British factions. Though you might have to khaki up some British Regiments or just make a late Victorian British Army with a earlier one if you want to keep the famous Redcoats.We are playing to add khaki uniforms. We having more then 1 british faction :) 1 for sudan conflict. 1 for zulu.

Shaka Zulu had an all female force of fighters? Find me one shred of evidence that the Zulu used women in their amabutho? It doesn't add variety it looks bloody ridiculous especially when they are wearing black and white leopard print bikini's.Female warriors will not longer be in the new zulu portion. Also that list would be nice. We will be keeping some of the old regiments from the original mod such as 24th,58th, and 60th. Others will be either redone or re-used possibly. Or they will be replaced by a new regiment etc...
Oh and that silly article is not evidence, that is some silly shit coming out of some bloggers keyboard.
Women did not fight in the Zulu war in any regimented manner or in any key battles beyond maybe hitting men who walked through their villages with sticks. If you want this to be taken seriously then actually be vaguely realistic.

But scripting them shouldn't be too hard.
Considering the zulus will be more about player vs bots and not PvP then they don't have to be as balanced to the british, so they can have less guns and less units.

having two variants for white/dark skin colour for both genders, and a simple detection system for which skin colour was used for the face...
should work.
I think it would be great to do it in a similar way to the Deluge mod - replace the gender option with race options such as European/African, or Aryan/Hamitic as it would be called in late 19th century. As you choose one of them you get a different selection of skins and hairstyles. Also the customization of the face shape of the two races could be made slightly different.We are going to have diffrent face variants. One step at a time. Only have one guy who really does all the modeling. But as i said in the post that unit is not all we have done. We have diff mahdist with Afros etc. The units will not be all be the same hoping to get diff variants.

I think that might be some sort of white powder certain tribes spread over their bodies, I don't think the Zulus use it so I'm not sure.
