Welcome to the third edition of The Fighting Pit. The last edition was hosted almost a year ago and I figured it was hard time to bring it back before we enter the third season of the EGS, where every Sunday will have at least one half of the competitive community occupied, making it hard for an event such as this to exist. Although they are definitely not on the same stance as bigger team formats, the smaller size tournaments have still proved to be good fun over the years and with quite a few players rising to the top of the scene lately, it could prove a good occasion to see new teams partaking in a format they may not all be familiar with.

Leaving only a week open for sign-ups is obviously not ideal but I figured the community is aware enough at this point to spread the word quickly and get enough people interested. Obviously, if this is a complete flop, I will consider moving it over to the 29th of September but it's worth mentioning that we are gonna run out of free Sundays for these sorts of chiller tournaments pretty quickly and I would rather make the best of it as quickly as possible.

Event Day: Sunday 12th of September | 20:00 BST | Sign-up Deadline: Sunday 12th of September | 17:00 BST| Roster Deadline: Sunday 12th of September | 18:00 BST

Format: The tournament matches will be played out in an 3v3 format, with a group stage followed by a knockout stage. The limit of participants is fixed to 16 teams for now.

- Captains are required to sign-up all their players and themselves with a unique GUID. Teams that do not provide a roster with a unique GUID for each of their members won't be accepted for this tournament.
- Captains can add players up to three hours before the start of the tournament. After that, the roster will be locked and no more changes will be accepted.

Match Rules
- Group stage matches and Round 1, 2 & 3 of the knockout stage will be FT5. The semi-finals and bronze match will be FT7. Grand-final will be FT10.

- Every player has to wear the tag of their team.
- Players which are part of the same team may not use identical in-game faces.
- You may only spawn in once your team's name is called.
- You may only enter the arena if you are playing.
- Substitutes can spawn in but will be expected to obey the rules and not disturb the ongoing matches.
- Captains are expected to type 'R' or 'Ready' in the chat before every round so that the referee can make the round go 'live'.
- Line infantry is the only class allowed.
- The bayonet is the only weapon allowed.

- Players are expected to behave with certain standards and act in a respectful manner.

Regimental Groupfighting League / [RGL8] Introduction & Applications
« on: August 01, 2021, 11:02:29 pm »

This fall, NW's most storied competition will return for an eighth edition that we hope will reach standards never seen before. Although the previous season failed at fulfilling every single of its promises, the event itself was still considered one of the best RGL seasons, with arguably one of the greatest grand-final comebacks ever witnessed in competitive Warband and tons of glorious storylines to be remembered. For this new season of the RGL, we figured the best way to exceed the hype surrounding the previous season was to be even more ambitious and in order to reach our goals, to bring together an admin team made of the old & new hosts of past editions. Rommel, Cazasar & Phoenix will be making their return at the head of a major NW competition and with Shadey & Tardet on their sides, they aim to make this RGL Season 8 one of the most unforgivable events the NW scene has ever seen.

There is also no denying that our scene has been struggling these past couple of years. Despite Bannerlord still looking like a half-finished product, especially in regards to the multiplayer & highly competitive scene, more and more players are trying it out and considering making the move for good. We can’t be certain of how many seasons of the RGL we still have ahead of us and figured that we should treat each of them like it’s the last. This explains why we have hearts set on making it the best possible experience for its participants. But as it is often the case, without the community, we are nothing. With the amount of work we have prepared for this event, we understand that we will need to rely on other people than the five of us to carry all of our ideas out. This is the main aim of this post, to gather a team of advisers & content creators that will accompany us in the journey of making this season of the RGL a moment to be remembered across a decade of tournaments.

Sign-ups Opening: 30th of August
First Week Matches: 4th of October
Hosts: Cazasar, Phoen!x, Rommel, Shadey & Tardet
Format: League Stage - 15v15 (+)

Here is a list of the different roles & skills we will be looking for in order to prepare for this new season of the RGL. Bear in mind that once the event goes live, there will also be other areas in which you can help, such as acting as a livestreamer or recorder, referee, etc...:

  • Video maker/editor -> People who are familiar with video editing tools in order to work out a trailer for the tournament but also contents we could use before and during the season.
  • Writer -> People who are familiar with the NW scene, especially on a regimental side, to help us write previews, reviews, interviews, and other similar content.
  • Betting Corner manager -> We need one or two people that would be interested in handling a betting corner throughout the entire competition. The format itself is already designed, we are just looking for people that are willing to update it weekly.
  • Graphist -> We are looking for people who’d be willing to design certain graphics for us, especially for the written & video contents we are planning.
  • Statistician -> We need people who have a deep understanding of NW scripts, to figure out if it’d be possible to track every match of the RGL and publish detailed statistics.

We are all adults, or soon-to-be adults, with IRL goals or responsibilities to look forward to and as hosts, we make no exception to this rule. Despite all of our goodwill, if we do not receive a powerful response from the competitive scene, with the people we know have the skillset to help us out coming forward, it’s a guarantee that we won't be able to give life to all these projects we have planned. We need your help, but only you can answer the call and commit yourself with us.

So what will it be?

Community / RGL clips needed
« on: July 26, 2021, 07:30:17 pm »
The title says it all. I need as much content possible of high-level plays in RGL. Can be from S1 to S7, from literally anybody so long as they are spectacular but I will obviously always prefer if they are taken from high-stake matches.

Just link them below, on steam or in MP with the time sample so I can find them easily. Even if you are not called Golden, Tibérias or Shadey, don't be afraid to share your clips, the more the better.

Competitive EU Events/Tournaments / The Fighting Pit - 5v5 Tournament
« on: December 27, 2020, 09:46:01 pm »

Welcome to the second edition of The Fighting Pit. After a bloody tournament where squads of three faced each other to claim glory and honours, the owners of the Pit have decided to re-open the doors of the arena. This time, we have made the splendid acquisition of hundred horses which we fully intend to put to use for the pleasure of our spectators. This edition will therefore be a cavalry-themed event but everyone is welcome to join, regardless of which community you come from.

The tournament will also take an essential part in helping seed the upcoming Fantasy League hosted by Skittles. For that reason, a special rule (which you can find down below in the appropriate section) will aim at limiting teams from a single regiment to partake together. We feel like these tournaments are good occasions to play with people you normally don't get the chance to due to belonging to different regiments, which is the aim of the Fantasy League and this, of this tournament.

Hussars Cup / Hussars Cup Season 2 - Official Announcement
« on: December 13, 2020, 04:05:07 pm »

After a sucessful Cavalry League where the 8th 'King's Own' Royal Hussars managed to lift their first major trophy by beating their long-term rival from the 4e Régiment de Hussards in a nail-biting match, Erik and myself wanted to capitalize on the strong activity and interest we witnessed in the cavalry competitive scene. We had plans of hosting a format similar to the Hussar Cup for quite a long time but it's only during the very last weeks of the Cavalry League that we talked with Lindblom who accepted to revive that competition with us. With Lightning finalizing our admin team, we were finally ready to present you that project very dear to us. Welcome to the official announcement thread of the Hussar Cup, Season 2.

The Hussars Cup Season 2 will be an invitational, fast-paced tournament, lasting for no more than five weeks, with the best regiments from the hussar community coming together for what promises to be an absolute brawl. The idea is to have the highest form of competition by not only making sure the skill gap between each participating regiments is as small as possible but also putting everyone on equal footing by displaying one and one class only. We have our number of participating teams set to 6 for now however, the format we have opted for allow us to raise that number to 7 or 8 teams if required. Although this is not in our plans for now, would a large number of smaller regiments (casual or competitive) share their wish to partake in this event that we would consider hosting a second division running alongside the first one. We do have the ressources for this, we just want to make sure the interest is there.
                                                                                                            Administrators:
Erik
Tardet
Lindblom
Lightning

Tournament duration: Five weeks
First week matches: 18th of January 2021.
Format: Invitational. Group stage & knockout stage.

The Mess Hall / European Team Rankings

European Team Ranking

This thread aims at providing a ranking of the European best groupfighting teams in the competitive field of Napoleonic Wars. Vastly inspired by HLTV's world ranking on CSGO, this ranking will be updated on a monthly basis, with teams moving up and down based on their performances in tournaments over the last year. While this ranking has no official value, it will aim at providing the most accurate picture possible of every active team's performance within a given time frame and can eventually serve as a helping tool for invitational based events.

How is the ranking calculated?

Much like HLTV's very own world ranking, this European NW ranking is based on a combination of teams' achievements over the past year (with severe decay in points throughout each month) & recent form over the last 2 months. HLTV includes a third variable which is the performances at the last 10 LAN events but due to NW competitions being held entirely online, we cannot use it nor pretend offering something even remotely similar. This ranking will mostly mimic HLTV's but cannot provide the same amount of details or accuracy, mostly due to not having the same mass of available data.

Regimental Groupfighting League / [RGL7] Congratulations & Thanks You
« on: July 13, 2020, 04:15:40 pm »

Welcome on the conclusion thread for this seventh season of the Regimental Groupfighting League. During more than two months, twenty regiments spread across two leagues have been battling each others for a chance to claim that sought-after trophy. Today, after having been gifted last week with one of the most amazing RGL decider match ever played, we have now a clear top 3 established in each of the two RGL divisions. There are quite a few people I would like to thank, as the RGL wouldn't have happened without them, but as traditions commands it, lets congratulate our winners first:

There is no denying that you guys were the heavy favorite coming into this edition of the RGL. But it’s one thing to have an amazing reputation, and another to be consistently able to hold on to it. If there was anyone left in this community willing to doubt your supremacy on the regimental scene, this new title might very well serve as the ultimate reminder that you can never count the 15thYR out, no matter the situation. The amazing comeback you were able to achieve - against all odds - in your final and deciding match for the title probably stands as the best example for that. It is also a testimony that a group sharing values such as dedication, loyalty and an iron will to succeed together will always be the most dangerous recipe in a competitive atmosphere. In the years to come, may you reflect on what you achieved with pride and happiness, because what you have created might very well go down as of the most unique legacy ever witnessed in competitive warband. Enjoy your trophy champs. I can’t think of a group which deserve it more than you do.

As we saw the 92nd develops its interest for competitive matters throughout the years, we got the chance to witness its grenadier company transform from a group with a solid potential, to a real title contender roster. Such strength was demonstrated in several recent events, most notably the RGT and the 2v2 LB, but eventually same as what happened in these competition, your victory in this RGL wasn’t meant to be just yet. I know that this result will always remain filled with a certain disappointment, as your group involved a lot of resources, time and effort into this edition but coming second only to one of the greatest regiment to have ever existed on NW is nothing to be ashamed about. You crushed every other opposition coming your way, and got the closest possible to your goal in a match which will go down as one of the greatest decider ever played. We know rebuilding won’t be easy, with new active and attractive regiments often forming around the ending of competitions, but with those who decided to stay loyal to your colors, we can only wish you to improve and come back stronger. Heads-up highlanders. You fought one hell of a fight, now enjoy a well-earned rest.

At the start of the competition, many considered Division A to be a three horses race, and for most of its duration, a three horses race it remained. For a while however, it remained unclear as for who would stand at the top by the end of the competition yet at all time, you guys assumed your statut of favorite while staying true to the very principles which lead to the creation of the 18th. On top of the indisputable quality and experience of your players, you also showed an impressive resilience as a group, such as demonstrated against the 92nd or the 14e, and this gave us some amazing encounters filled with impressive display of brute skills and clutch moments. The RGL has always been about putting these group of talented meleers on the spotlight and for that reason, we were extremely glad to count on you for this edition as we knew you would make for one hell of a show. You certainly didn’t disappoint and despite not being able to grab one of the two first spots, you performance is still worthy of all the praises. If this was to be the last event of the 18th, we hope you guys enjoyed it as much as we did having you. Best of luck to your group moving forward!

Congratulations also to the 33rd Regiment of Foot for winning Division B, and the Kaiserliches Heer | Infanterie-Regiment Nr.59 & 98° Reggimento di Parma for ranking second and third respectively.

First of all, I'd like to give a huge thank you to Rommel, Phoenix, the AMAZING Cazasar and Hunter. The RGL is their baby, and it has always been and will always remain that way. For that reason, entrusting us with the task of carrying such a huge legacy filled Shadey and I with both pride and a huge sense of responsibility. I hope we made the name proud.

Next-up, thanks to the amazing admin team who contributed to making this tournament happen. Thanks to Fwuffy, who despite discret on the forums, has always been a precious help behind the scenes, with wise advices when required. He was key in helping to schedule the most important match of the RGL and I can't thank him enough for that. A big thanks to Crusher who helped us with many administrative task at the beginning, and Hunter - who stepped in to make-up for my lack of time & motivation during the second half of the competition.

And obviously, as he deserve his own paragraph for that, a huge thank you to Shadey, who is the main actor responsible for making this RGL7 the successful event it was. He was key in helping me setting-up the foundations of this season, did all the graphics you saw on the sub-forum, handled most of the weekly forum updates, took care of server management and spend hours of his time settling disputes or simply helping regiment leaders to organize their matches, when he was not simply referring official encounters. When I had a drop of motivation mid-way, he took all the pressure as a host on his shoulders and doubled his efforts to make sure you guys were having the best experience possible. I often praise Hekko and Evanovic for having set-up a standard in competitive hosting which has never really matched ever since but I feel it's safe to say Shadey entirely deserve the same level of recognition. I hope to be speaking for the entire community when I say we are grateful for what you have done for us.

Thank you also to the huge referee team we had for this event and who took hours from their free time to make sure most of you had an enjoyable competition. Thank you: Kore, Steinman, DarkTemplar, Rikkert, NickCole (best NA ref), MarxeiL, Stockholm, Irish, Golden, Movement, MightyPain, Saphyro, Frittentime, Nock, Spooky, Elsse, Vegi, Shepherd & Phoenix.

Thank you to our two main server providers. Lindblom, who continues to provide quality servers for NW competitions and took care of most of the RGL servers and Presidente (19th) who landed us two very good Strasbourg servers for the entire duration of the RGL. On the same note, thanks to Wüstenkrieger who provided the amazing scripts for this competition. The RGL could have never happened without people like you. From the bottom of our heart, thank you.

Thank you to all the people who recorded their own PoV or took from their free time to record other's people matches. A big thanks obviously to the grand-final casting crew, Maskman, Jerome & Snikkel for covering that amazing match live and giving us lovely memories to look back at in future years. More generally, thank you to everyone who contributed in promoting this tournament, one way or another.

Last but not least, thank you to all the regiments, leader & members, who took part in this season of the RGL. Despite not having been able to conduct all the projects we had for this edition, we hope you are as satisfied as we are (as tournament admins) about the way this season unfolded. It was pretty drama-free; which I'm glad for, but there was still a lot of tense and amazing matches across both divisions and I believe the spirit of the RGL was accurately represented during these 9 weeks.

We wish you some good vacations for those of you who won't be working this summer. Remember to stay safe, protect yourself and your loved ones and we hope to see you in September for some more regimental shenanigans.

Until then, that's it from us!

Groupfighting Teams / Super Saiyans - Revenge of Goku
« on: June 23, 2020, 11:02:12 am »

SuperSaiyans made its first appearance back in May 2014. At the time, 3 teams were contesting each other's supremacy at the top, namely the Melee Gods, Disciples and PowerRangers. In between a series of tournaments which saw each of these line-ups pick up a win - with the two others usually ranking second and third - Axiom signed-up the team under the SuperSaiyans tag, which was essentially the PowerRangers line-up, simply with a different name. Such a tag was short-lived, however, as it was only used for a single tournament (which the team won). They then switched back to the PowerRangers's name for the next competition, establishing the team's true dominance for the remainder of that year.

Since then, SuperSaiyans' name has been used by a couple of other teams but without featuring any of the players who first wore that tag. In June 2020, Axiom decided to try and revive a squad of old veterans, reuniting them under the same structure once more. From the old SuperSaiyans team, only a couple of members subsist but overall, the current roster is still made out of some of the oldest players still active in the community. For them, this team represents the perfect occasion to play in a competitive atmosphere they are already familiar with while getting the chance to tackle with some of the current hot talents of the scene. In future, the team might open itself to some youngsters, assuming they share a common mentality with the rest of the squad.

Roster

Axiom (C)

Yamoshi

Age: 23
Playing since: 2013
Main Team(s):
PowerRangers
Poosy

Spoiler
Having been a top player for a large span of his career, Axiom might very well be the true definition of England's finest. His competitive path on NW is still one of the most impressive to date as he was one of the main reason for England's dominance from 2013 to early 2015. At his prime, only a handful of players were able to compete with him, be it in duel, groupfighting or regimental tournaments. He heavily contributed to both the rise and establishment of PoweRangers as one of the most legendary groupfighting team of the decade and was an important element of Poosy's dominance throughout the year 2019. On a regimental scale, he had a notable impact among the 84e, 91st, 77y, 17e & 92nd, all considered as some of the biggest giants of the scene and was undoubtedly one of the most skilled members in several editions of the UK team. Axiom has seen it all, has conquered it all. Though many believed he wasn't capable to compete at the top anymore, he came back from several extensive breaks and proved he still had it by winning back to back tournaments against some of the toughest opposition there ever was. On top of being one of the most dangerous players in SuperSaiyans, his unmatched experience and understanding of the game coupled with important human qualities and a wish to provide his player with the best atmosphere possible make him best fit for the role of captain. If this team is to be having any success, you can be certain Axiom will have been one of its most essential contributor.

Alator

Gohan

Age: 20
Playing since: 2014
Main Team(s):
V75
Jedis

Spoiler
Despite being the youngest of age and having entered competitive NW later than most of the line-up, Alator’s experience doesn’t shy away from the rest of his teammates. Having started primarily as a duelist helped him perform in smaller scale tournaments and very quickly, he found himself playing with and against top players who - for most of them - had started playing the game years before him. Though having never reached the very top of the scene throughout his career, his impact among V75 was more than noticeable as he helped them contest FT supremacy during several tournaments, such a rivalry between both groups also translating during the M-NWWC and NWWC events, where Alator was again seen performing beyond expectations. Later on, he joined the Jedis Master, where he also managed to achieve high tournament placings, before he eventually took a break from the competition. On a regimental scale, Alator was part of three top regiments, namely the Spartans, K-KA and 17e where his impact and contribution were often noticed and appreciated. Calm and collected, the Swede is the perfect illustration that being the youngest in a group doesn’t mean you cannot be among the most mature and other than through his melee skills, that’s precisely where his impact in Super Saiyans will be key: Keeping everyone’s head above water in tough moments and being the solid, unbreakable wall he once was.

ClaSh

Bardock

Age: 23
Playing since: 2011
Main Team(s):
TFO

Spoiler
In certain communities, a few people are set to become exceptional figures, be it through their words or actions. In that regard, ClaSh was the french pioneer when it comes to trying out international structures and becoming one of the undisputable best players of his time. With a french community often having its best players comparing their skills on a national scale, ClaSh’s debuts in the 15e helped his reputation to grow at an international level. He was one of the very few people being able to contest JackieChan in duels at his prime and his victory clutch for TFO against a 91st team filled with some of the most legendary players of early NW still remains one of the most impressive displays of brute skill. He eventually tried out a few other international regiments later on, and even joined the 14e for a while but it was only when Hekko created the Nr24 and reunited a large part of the old 15e crew that ClaSh truly felt at home again. He played in the second edition of the NWEC and in the first Nations Cup in 2014 but eventually never managed to give France a title, finishing in a respectable third and second place. Being one of the most versatile players of his era, ClaSh’s legacy was left on a sour note as the young frenchmen eventually retired sooner than expected. He appeared again in quite a few occasions but it was never for long and taking off the rust he had accumulated in years of absence proved difficult, as the scene certainly hadn’t waited for him, with new top players and different metas being now well established. The 14e’s return to NW certainly marked the beginning of a different reappearance for ClaSh. Unlike when he was spotted playing for the 85e for a couple of events, this time ClaSh really seemed to have found a new motivation to play the game at a competitive level. Though no longer a top player by any means, he became more and more comfortable through the months, to a point where his unmatched experience and renewed skill made him one of the most important players among the new 14e line-up. Almost 10 years ago, ClaSh showed the way to the first generation of french competitive players. He became a founding father figure, the one so many looked up to in order to become as great as him. ClaSh didn’t become a legend. He became THE legend. Joining Super Saiyans, he will have the occasion to show he can still perform up to today’s standards, while being surrounded by friends and other legendary players.

Gull

Broly

Age: 21
Playing since: 2015
Main Team(s):
Cazadores
TBE

Spoiler
A large amount of the current top players will tell you that, the most accurate thing about old fart achievements is that they are … old. In that regard, it’s hard to contradict them. In almost 10 years, the meta has largely evolved and being a top player in 2013 or 2014 doesn’t mean much nowadays. Obviously, some of the older players have been capable of adapting but nowadays they shine more through their experience and game sense rather than raw skill. This is exactly because Super Saiyans was going to eventually lack a lot of that raw skill that Gull was offered a spot in this team. He started competitive NW in 2015 and regimentaling speaking, has been a member of the 2nHess ever since. He eventually was a member of a couple of other regiments throughout the years such as the 33rd, 84e or 15thYR but his main regiment always remained the 2ndHess. Later on, he was spotted by Tigere who offered him a spot in Cazadores, a spot he held until 2019 where his IRL duties (a job in the army) became too important for him to continue playing actively. While he was in Cazadores, he was also spotted playing for other gf teams such as NotSwedish, Kamikaze or Olympus but at all time, his primary focus groupfighting wise remained Cazadores. While he was in the army, he ended-up joining TBE and played there for quite a while. At a national level, Gull has been playing for the Austria & Switzerland team since 2018, where he held the captainship responsibilities and showed some impressive individual capabilities while playing with a couple of rather inexperienced members. Overall, Gull’s strong mechanic skills make him a deadly player but he never got the chance to showcase these skills at the highest level and that’s probably why he remains to this date a rather underestimated player. In Super Saiyans, however, he will be one of the heavy fragers the team expects to rely on against most opponents. If given the proper environment and trust, there is no doubt Gull could very well become a pivotal member of this team and help a bunch of rusty veterans aim for new highs.

SpaceKiller

Trunks

Age: 23
Playing since: 2012
Main Team(s):
PowerRangers

Spoiler
In 2012, SpaceKiller joined the ranks of the 14e Régiment d’Infanterie. At the time, what would become the greatest competitive french regiment of the decade, and one of most dangerous european one, was still a project very much in infancy, where a lot had to be done. Through qualities such as honesty, hard-work and unmatched loyalty, SpaceKiller quickly rose through the ranks, up to a point where he ended up being granted - alongside Enriik - the chance to join the council of the four founding members. Throughout the entire history of the 14e, only these two people will be made such an honor, which is telling of Space’s uniqueness both as a player, but also as a leading figure. Where the 14e met competitive success, SpaceKiller was there, be it the RGT, NWL or many other tense and back and forth 1v1s against some of the greatest regiments of that time. With time, he became one of the most mechanically skilled players of the 14e and contributed into training a new generation of players for NW’s competitive side. When the 14e closed its doors in December 2014, Space was undoubtedly at the prime of his career and though his loyalty had and was always going to be towards the 14e, he was still hungry for more. He took the decision, alongside some of his old 14e teammates such as Dren or Tibérias, to join the 77y, where he stayed for a while and became one of the regular players of their competitive line-up. On a groupfighting level, Space started the competition by making a team of 14e members in 2013 to play a couple of tournaments but without necessarily aiming for high placings. It’s during early 2014 that he really showed what he was capable of when it came to non regimental events, and with a team mostly made up of 14e player, he achieved an impressive second place, losing only to the Melee Gods, beating the PowerRangers and a couple of other great teams along the way. Such a performance wouldn't go unnoticed as Space was then offered to join the PowerRangers during Spring 2014, with whom he won his first groupfighting tournament. At a national level, he was one of France’s most impactful players during the NWEC 2013 and Nations Cup 2014, where - alongside his regimental teammates Flopz and Enriik - he heavily contributed in helping France reach two finals. Such a heavy palmares definitely makes Space one of the most important french competitive figures of the decade and despite being absent for a while, everytime he came back, he was still able to show he still had it, while always staying truthful to his very aggressively oriented playstyle, inherited of the old meta. When most of the 14e old guard ended-up stopping the game, he kept pushing for more. When the 14e came back on NW not so long ago, he was one of those who helped forming the RGL line-up and gave his very best to show a proud figure against the current best regiments of the scene. Moving forward, he will definitely be a key factor impacting Super Saiyans’s potential success in NW. Pretty much like he has always been in any gf teams or regiments throughout the years.

BlackBeard

Goku

Age: 23
Playing since: 2012
Main Team(s):
Titans

Spoiler
Having started NW back in 2012, BlackBeard’s road into NW competitive has been a bumpy one, filled with breaks, regimental rebrand or switch. Known firstly under the name KingPing while he stayed for a year among the 16e then the 95th Rifles, ‘BlackBeard’ was born the day he joined the Spartans, taking his first real steps into competitive NW. He stayed in Spartans over a year, played a couple of regimental events for them and joined his first groupfighting team (Rockets) around that same time. At the time, the UK community was filled with so many legendary names that it was hard to stand out as a good player, willingly or not. Eventually, BlackBeard joined the 25th to stay away from competition but it wasn’t long before he was seen playing for another competitive regiment, this time Hienrich’s 92nd. While getting a chance to play with MaNdar1nch1k amongst VL, BlackBeard started to push more and more into the competitive direction until he joined the Grand Britain team. He reached a final with them, eventually losing to France but started to make a name for himself thanks to a good showing in a couple of competitive events. His regimental path remained filled with ups and downs, joining the Spartans which later renamed into the 78th, then being part of the K-KA for a while, taking a break, then eventually rejoining Caskie’s 91st. At a point, BlackBeard stopped playing in regiments and groupfighitng team all together and was mostly seen on the groupfigthing server. He eventually came back to carry England’s Team 2 for the last NWWC, then switched to Team 1 and performed amazingly in the final against France. BlackBeard also played for a couple of top groupfighting teams in 2018 and 2019, achieving a gold medal with Poosy and a silver one with AK47, among several other respectable placings. Though the following story paints a rather on and off road into NW, BlackBeard personality is all the contrary. He is a genuinely and constantly nice individual, very down to earth, rarely getting angry and essential to build a good team’s synergy. For someone who started off in the most casual manner, it’s a bit crazy to realise that he became one of England’s key players for the late half of NW and any team can consider itself lucky to have him.

Rikimaru

Vegeta

Age: 23
Playing since: 2011
Main Team(s):
PowerRangers - TFFO / TFO
TBE

Spoiler
Rikimaru’s story must be one of the most constant journeys ever witnessed for a top player on NW. It is worth being told mainly because it is as exceptional as it is unique. He started his regimental experience within the 77y, and never left. He developed himself as one of the most dangerous players of his era, among the likes of Evanovic, Xeon, ClaSh and so many others. He was made countless offers to join some of the most prestigious regiments at the time, but never acted upon it. His unfailing loyalty towards the 77y has never been altered through time. Almost ten years ago, you could see him fly through the fields of EU_1, slaying dozens of players within the blink of an eye. Today, EU_1 is nothing but a vestige of the past yet Rikimaru remains. Winner of the first and second NWEC with the Netherlands, key member of the BFF and PowerRangers for several gf tournaments editions, unparalleled duelist, having came first once and second twice with the 77y during the RGT, his palmares goes on and on. From 2011 to 2014, the players as impactful as him can be counted on the fingers of two hands. Eventually however, even the brightest legends can fade away with time. With a new influx of players being witnessed during 2015, Riki saw a lot of his friends and rivals leave the community for good. 2015 and 2016 were the years of transition as a top player for Riki. He still achieved a gold medal with TFFO and a silver one with GrenSquid but from 2017 onward, he was no longer to be spotted in the top three of most gf tournaments. He still continued to play in all the 77y competitive events however but joining TBE definitely achieved to establish Riki as an ‘retired’ old veteran. His calm, selfless personality probably contributed to keeping him away from Tier 1 for all these years as he seemed happy enough to play with friends and never felt bitter about no longer being the amazing player he once was. In Super Saiyans however, a team he was one of the original members of, a lot of his teammates have known Riki at his very best. And together, they will attempt at bringing the dutchman back where he belongs. To the top.

The Regimental Groupfighting League Season 7 has just started, with a couple of matches having already been played earlier this week. As the competition is planned to last over the next two months and a half, we felt this was the right opportunity to showcase our twenty participants, take a short look at their history and achievements and discuss their chances in their respective divisions. For some of the oldest and most successful competitive regiments, they might even get their own storyline article, but that’s a subject to be discussed in the upcoming weeks. We will also try to provide the community with as many interviews as possible, as it is best to hear directly from the captains and players themselves.

With the RGL7 being divided into two divisions, in a similar fashion to season 4, regiments should be facing opponents of arguably similar strengths or mindset. With that being said, even inside each division, the skill-gap can be quite consequent and that is why our series of showcases will be divided into three categories: The underdogs, the mid-tier and the favourites.

- Place Holder Interview | TBA (Coming soon)

- Division B | The Underdogs (Released)
- Division A | The Underdogs (Released)

- Place Holder Storyline | TBA (Coming soon)

We continue our series of showcases with Division A Underdogs, the 45th Nottinghamshire Regiment of Foot & the 56e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne.

Each division will be having a category of its own and today, we will be starting with the underdogs from Division B: The 19th Yorkshire Regiment of Foot, the 5e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne & the 64. Regimento De Galicia.

Regimental Groupfighting League / [RGL7] Banter Thread
« on: May 08, 2020, 10:07:36 am »
I don't have high hopes about the outcome of this thread but I wanted to give it a try nonetheless, give a place where you can freely shit-post while also sort of witness whether or not this community have finally managed to mature in some ways.

Consider it temporary stuff, a test thread which I will be free to remove the instant it becomes overloaded with personal attacks or the content is simply overwhelmingly poor, which knowing you lot shouldn't take too long either way.

On the other hand, please don't come crying at Shadey or myself the moment your regiment or person is mentioned because we will both royally ignore you. The purpose is to have fun so don't take what's there too seriously and learn to laugh about yourself. It will only make you stronger in the long run.
