Here's a link to the patch. This should fix the issues with the gun sounds being quieter than everything else. Also distant sounds are more prominent.

You should turn up your master volume with this installed however.

Yep! What I'm working on, is lowering all the other sounds ;) Then just bringing up the master volume!

That's very odd, but I don't think it's anything to do with this mod. No one else has it.

It seems there is some disagreement with this idea. But that's okay, because I will make it as a separate download.

Also, I am now thinking of the future for this mod. Immersion... Iron Sights, removal of HUD, no females etc... We'll see.

Any thoughts, let me know please!

Edit: By making all game sounds quieter apart form gun sounds, if you turn your volume up, it sounds better! I will release this as another patch soon.

I tested it yesterday in a line battle, and by god, the smoke effects are AMAZING, the performance has been improved A LOT, good job!
however the gun sounds could use some improvement, but it looks like its an ingame issue rather than an issue with the actual sounds, i mean, if i play the gunsound files from VLC, they do sound good, however ingame it looks like the audio quality is decreased.
I'm noticing the voices are often louder than the gunfire.

Is there anyway to maybe lower the volume of the voices so there is a better more realistic mix. The gunfire should be a bit louder I feel.

Other than that minor issue this addition is great Baillie


Agreed, gunsounds should be louder imo, also distant gunfire sounds should be a bit louder too.

Also, hasnt vanilla NW a way to produce distant gunfire sounds? can you explain us how your sound mod works, does it override vanilla distant ones?

Now then, as you say, the sound effects aren't the issue, it's something in the code which lowers the volume of distant sounds. If this is just an NW script, then it's fine, I'll fix it. However, the danger is that it's hardcoded into warband. I will look into it! As for the sounds losing quality, I hadn't noticed. Are you sure about that?
