I bought a Dutch military canteen a while back (plastic). It's from the Vietnam era. (60's-70's) and I was wondering if there was any danger if I decided to use it. I'm currently washing it with soap and very hot water. I thought I might find some help on this area of the forum because I figure y'all use surplus for some reenactments.

Thanks!

That's what I was thinking, but I wasnt sure if it would damage it. Just dousing something that is 50 or so years old in rubbing alcohol just didnt feel right to me. lol

Clean it with bleach. Make sure to leave the bleach in when you use it though.
