I have to disagree with what is written about Polish ranks.
Duchy of Warsaw did not have a Navy.
- Private:
- Infantry:
- Fizylier- in central company;
- Grenadier- in grenadier company;
- Woltyżer- in light infantry company;
- in Duchy of Warsaw army there were no Skirmishers;
- Cavalry:
- Ułan- in Lancers regiments;
- Strzelec konny- in regiments of mounted riflemens;
- Huzar- hussars regiments;
- Kirasjer- cuirassier regiment;
- Artillery:
- Kanonier;
- Infantry:
- Corporal:
- Kapral- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery;
- Corporal First Class:
- Kapral- furier- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery (french Caporal-Fourrier);
- Seargent:
- Sierżant- in Infantry;
- Wachmistrz- in Cavalry;
- Ogniomistrz- in Artillery;
- Seargent Major:
- In Infantry (we have two different names, each means the same):
- Starszy Sierżant;
- Sierżant Szef;
- In the Cavalry and Artillery rank did not exist;

- Second Lieutenant:
- Podporucznik- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery;
- First Lieutenant:
- Porucznik- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery;
- Captain:
- Kapitan- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery;
- Major:
- Podpułkownik- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery- sometimes called Szef Batalionu (in Infantry) and Szef Szwadronu (in Cavalry);
- Lieutenant Colonel:
- Major- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery;
- Colonel:
- Pułkownik- the same in Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery;
