[KGB] Komanda Grodno Battalion
« on: January 30, 2014, 09:42:33 pm »

The Komanda Grodno Battalion was formed in response to an overwhelming number of regiments playing favourites and always promoting melee proficient people over more dedicated and hard working individuals.  Myself (Vassili) and Madfast both agreed that something should be done for those who enjoy going specialist units and whom always get overlooked for promotions and recognition.

In response, the KGB was formed.  We are a small regiment of friends and newcomers who all enjoy playing anything but line infantry.  This does not mean that infantry players are not welcome.  We will most often play as skirmisher, cavalry, artillery or light infantry units.  On occasion we will have an event where we must go line, but our overall goal is to have several events where we never have to go infantry.  One of our other goals is to have a totally impartial system for promotions and rankings.  Members earn points for various activities and once the number for their next promotion is achieved, that individual is promoted or put on review for promotion.  No more being overlooked for lack of higher skill.  No more being kicked to the side because that one good meleer joined and gets that last Corporal spot.  We are fair and impartial and no one will be left out.

Along with our point system, we have added in a voting system as well to ensure that everyone has equal say in whom they trust to lead them.  Thus, we have eliminated unfavourable  leaders being put in a position they are not ready for.

Our Point System:

The KGB is unique in that we use a point system for deciding promotions and tracking how active a member is.

Spoiler
[close]

Just because you have the points needed will not guarantee a promotion (though it is a high indicator that you will get promoted soon if you fill all requirements of that rank) but it will ensure that no officer is picking favourites and handing out promotions to those undeserving.

So far this point system has been a success and we find that our members have more fun and worry less about who has what rank.

Medals and Awards:

The KGB, in order to make up for a competitive ranking system, adds in over 30 medals that can be earned and competed for to add more distinction to yourself.  Each medal must be earned through intelligence and skill.  To earn your medal, you must complete the assigned goal to that Award, and a minimum of three team-mates must nominate you for that Award. Once nominated, the officers will review to make sure the criteria has been met and that the recipient has in truth earned the Award.  All awards are granted through our Team Speak, but members who are active in the forums may display them in their signature upon request of signature formatted icons.

Highest Honor:
In order to receive this Medal, all awards in the set must be achieved

About Our Officers

Polkovnik (Col) Vassili

Short Bio

"I started playing Mount and Blade almost 3 years ago when I was browsing steam for a fun horse combat game.  Shortly after I fell in love with the physics and game mechanics of Mount and Blade.  It's combat style and gameplay is unlike any other game and all the mods make it even more fun.  I was first introduced to the NW community though the original Mount and Musket Battalion mod.  I joined the then 21e and shortly after was also involved in the 13th Sommerset Light Infantry.  I rose up the ranks for my skill in cavalry and became a Captain in each regiment respectively.  It was at that point where I was pushed to choose one regiment or the other.  I was somewhat saved by the release of Napoleonic Wars DLC.  At that point the 21e split into the 48e and 21st Irish.  I stuck with the 48e, but eventually left to lead my own cavalry regiment. Due to circumstances out of my power, I had to disband after 5 months.  Since then I have been in a few regiments and learned new and better tactics as well as made many friends in the community.  I am known by many names: Lions of Bavaria, Vassili, Gladiator and Chauncey to name a few, as was my tradition of changing names when I changed a regiment.  I have now been playing MM and NW for over 3 years combined.  I have racked up over 2000 hours of gameplay and seen the workings of many regiment.  I am confident that I have the knowledge to lead this new one successfully and teach other how to succeed in cavalry and skirm, but also to have fun!"

Short Bio:

"I started playing Mount and Musket around 2 years ago, but fairly casually never joining a regiment.I joined my first regiment after buying NW, the 21st Brit. I stayed with them for over a year, rising to the rank of leader of the skirmisher company. After it's name change to the 1teStb, and the leaving of our currect regimental XO I became defacto XO as the 2nd Highest ranking officer remaining. I am bored now and going to get a beer, vassili make up some shit about how I want people to have fun and will train them and shit."   ....Ok, well Madfast is the team drunk and will most often be heard with a beer and fried chicken.  He is very good at skirms though and will teach anyone how to be a pro at shooting and hit and run tactics.

Mladshiy Leytenant (MLt) Gloomy

Short Bio

"A year and half ago during the summer my friend, Madfast, told me about Mount and Blade: Warband and the Napoleonic Wars DLC. He was in a regiment named the 21st Brit. I decided to join him and I joined cavalry. I learned how to play heavy cavalry and became our best cavalryman in a few weeks. I later became the executive officer of cavalry until finally becoming the commanding officer. From there I lead several different groups of men and sections. I have been a leader of cavalry, artillery, line infantry, sailors, and rifles. My favorite and most played is cavalry. I eventually became the executive officer of the 21stBrit and several months later due to drama felt it best to resign. Since then I have been in several regiments. From the amount of time I have played this game I have learned how to lead every class in NW at least decently and have become a veteran player of NW. I can teach any new players how to play any class and how to use it effectively.  I'm pretty laid back."
