Around the year 1720, the count Ladislas Ignace of Bercheny recruited new hussars among the exiled Hungarians in Constantinople. Until the end of 1722 he mustered 174 Hungarians and so the new regiment - known as Bercheny-Houzards - was created. The debut of the hussars was the participation at the Polish Succession War between 1733 and 1736 where they fought at the sieges of Kehl, Ettingen and Philippsburg. The Bercheny-Houzards were also distinguished in the Austrian War of Succession during the siege of Pargue and in the Battle of Dettingen. The hussars were also involved in the Seven-Years-War from 1756 until 1763.

In 1791 all french regiments lost their names and ever since they are only called by numbers. Due to the age of the regiment, the regiment was renamed to 1er régiment de hussards. On the 30th of April 1792 a minority of the hussars of the 1er régiment de hussards under the command of the regimental Colonel Philippe Geörger left the army and decided to fight as the Bercheny-Houzards with the Prince.

From 1792 to 1801 the 1er régiment de hussards experienced 37 battles, 168 fights, 1310 affairs and captured 26.300 prisoners, 40 flags and 303 mouths fire. The greatest battles were the combat at Austerlitz in 1805 and the battle at Jena and Auerstedt 1806. At this glorious battle the 1er régiment de hussards had the honor to serve Napoleon from the 6th until the 18th of October 1806 instead of the cavalerie de la Garde Impériale. This honor made the regiment an elite regiment. The last actual battle was the summer campaign, also called War of the Seventh Coalition around 1815. It was the last military action of Napoleon and the 1er régiment de hussards. Just like the count of Bercheny announced the motto of the regiment: "Omnia si perdas, famam servare memento" which means "If you lost everything, remember that you still have your honor."

But the 1er régiment de hussards is still alive. It got reformed and today it is the 1er régiment de hussards parachutistes, an airborne cavalry unit which is stationed in Tarbes.

On the 3rd of March 2019 the 1er régiment de hussards was created by the Capitaine DeLaBedoyère and his Lieutenant Soartex. The 1er régiment de hussards is not one of many regiments. It is open for everyone who wants to improve their cavalry skills. The regiment is combining veterans with glorious names of this game with new players to help them becoming better hussars. It doesn`t matter where you are from or how good you are in this game because the main goal that connects us all is to improve and enjoy the game, so feel free to join us!
