So just for fun, I have given everyone an equivalent Russian rank:
May I make some corrections and suggestions?
Kpt - Kapitan - Kpt
ObrLt - Starshiy Leitenant - Slt
Lt - Leitenant - Lt
FW - Mladshiy Leytenant - Mlt
UO - Starshina - Str
Kpl - Starshiy Serzhant - Sszt
Bmbdr - Kanonir - Knr
Grd - Serzhant - Szt
Gefr - Mladshiy Serzhant - Mszt
Fus - Yefreytor - Yfr
Mktr - Krasnoarmeyets - Krs
Rkt - Rekrut - Rkt
These are clearly not actual equivalents in authority from Napoleonic Prussian to Soviet Russian, but the
number of ranks lines up perfectly, and the relative authority between ranks is preserved. The only oddball is Bombardier... Soviet artillery did not have its own unique ranks, but artillerists were still commonly called "cannoniers".
