The 30th is a North American regiment for Mount & Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars, formed on May 12th, 2014. This regiment is the spiritual successor to the 15th (Yorkshire, East Riding) Regiment of Foot [NA], founded by PurplePanda & TheMightyLips. We are a regiment dedicated to professionalism and maturity. If you would like to join, please contact any officer on Steam!

History

The regiment spent most of the French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802) back in the Mediterranean. It fought at Toulon (1793), on Corsica (1794) and Minorca (1798), before moving to Italy and Malta in 1799. The 30th then joined the British force in Egypt in 1801.

It returned to Britain in 1802 and a year later formed a 2nd Battalion. This regiment served in the Peninsular War (1808-14) from 1809, fighting at Fuentes de Onoro (1811) Badajoz (1812) and Salamanca (1812), where it captured a French eagle.

It had suffered such losses by December 1812 that its six weakest companies had to return to Britain to recruit, while the four strongest ones merged with a battalion of the 44th Regiment of Foot to form the 4th Provisional Battalion.

This dissolved in 1813 and the four companies from 2nd Battalion re-joined the six newly-recruited companies in Jersey later that year. 2nd Battalion moved to Holland in 1814 and fought at Waterloo (1815), at one point forming square and resisting 11 French charges. In 1817 the battalion was disbanded.

In the meantime, 1st Battalion sent five companies to fight in Hanover and northern Germany in 1805, before regrouping the following year to travel to India. It stayed there for over 20 years, sending detachments to Java and Portuguese Macao in 1807-08. It also fought in the Third Maratha War (1817-19).

For the next 35 years it alternated between overseas postings, including Bermuda, Nova Scotia and the Ionian Islands, and time in Britain and Ireland. The regiment deployed to the Crimean War (1854-56), serving at the Alma (1854), Inkerman (1854) and Sevastopol (1855).

Regiments / MOVED: --A NOTICE TO ALL REGIMENTS--

Hey, I'm Windflower, the new Community Rep. I don't feel the need for a big introduction as I believe most of you are familiar with me.

I'm going to try and keep this short. My goals as a Community Representative is to provide the best impartial moderation I can while solving any issues members seem to have within the community. I do not expect to make "major" changes or events as it simply does not fit inside a 3 month time frame. I am aware many people dislike me already because of my uncouth behavior towards some community members. I am aware of this and I assure my personality will have nothing to do with my keeping the community alive at the very least. I aim to keep my personal opinions out of it and be as impartial as I can.

The current state of the community seems to have dwindled down since September, so hopefully we can pick it back up by the time the Christmas sale rolls around to help with the actual number of casual/public players. As for the competitive community in NA, this is something I would like to put more focus on for now by promoting competitive tournaments/leagues that can benefit the community and increase participation.

Which leads me to my next announcement for the competitive scene. Since NAPL ended the competitive community has been very quiet. A returning league with the name of Gold 5v5 Groupfighting League will be re-hosting a season 2 under the same organizer Aurum, with Risk of the 3eVolt and I assisting him in making sure the league runs smoothly since Aurum does not have the time alone to organize everything himself. Season 1 was ran very smoothly and was reciprocated well by the community. For season 2 we hope for even more teams signing up as we have quite a large prize pool and 3 servers to use thanks to Dan the Chef as well as Aurum. This is a trusted league and it is going to be a very good thing for the competitive community to spark things back up.

The idea of other events such as starting the 8th season of NWL or perhaps starting up a Regimental Groupfighting League has been brought up recently. Currently I do not believe it is the right timing for these kinds of leagues/events. There is just not enough interest right now to start one right now with everything that's going on with the Gold 5v5 League as well as another 1v1 league being run by LadyMoraine currently. Another season of NWL is definitely something that I want (and hopefully the community) wants in the future, Hopefully around February-March. I have been told Amit is not interested in hosting another season, but hopefully that is not completely true as he has been an excellent organizer and I do not see anyone willing to put in the effort he did to make Season 7 run as smooth as it did.

Here is a link to the 5v5 Groupfighting Thread so you may sign up
, and I encourage everybody to sign up for this league as well as promote it to your friends.
Please use this post to discuss the current state of the community and any ideas you believe can benefit the community.

A new World War 2 shooter is in the works for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game, Battalion 1944, is a multiplayer shooter from UK studio Bulkhead Interactive that aims to capture the "core of classic multiplayer shooters" while using the "most advanced industry technology." The announcement trailer below contains some gameplay footage, but note that what you're seeing represents the game in its pre-alpha state.

Forum & Website / More Forum Ranks?
« on: January 27, 2016, 10:08:35 pm »
The way I see it, most of the people who post on here are Major rank or higher, I think there should be more ranks inbetween implemented sometime in the next few years.

I'm guessing in like 2-3 years, everybody is going to be Brig. General+. Gotta make the time on the lower ranks harder to achieve or add more.  :P

This regiment was originally formed as the spritual successor to the 30th (Cambridgeshire) Regiment of Foot, a very successful semi-competitive regiment which managed to capture the North American Premier League's championship in its first iteration while maintaining casual members and events.

With BCoF being available to the public our regiment and this game is starting to see life, there is now much more to look forward to than ever before. We will strive to grow our rank and compete in casual events and potentially competetive events as well, bringing our experience and former success from the old module to a newly polished game and providing a rich experience for the newer and more experienced players alike. We are a regiment dedicated to professionalism and maturity and most importantly just having a good time.

Mustered in: May 29, 1861
Mustered out: July 14, 1865

This regiment, called the Highlanders, was the original 79th militia and was composed mainly of Scotchmen. It was mustered into the service of the United States at New York city, for a three years' term, May 29, 1861, and left for Washington on June 2. It was stationed in the vicinity of Washington until the movement of the army to Manassas, when it was assigned to the 3rd brigade, 1st division, Army of Northeastern Virginia and participated in the battle of Bull Run. The command lost 198 in killed, wounded and missing, Col. Cameron being mortally wounded. During September the regiment was posted near Lewinsville, Va., where it several times encountered the enemy and was engaged in a sharp skirmish at Bailey's cross-roads. On Oct. 21, the 79th was attached to the 2nd brigade of Sherman's expeditionary corps, with which it embarked for Hilton Head, S. C., and served in that vicinity until June, 1862. It shared in the gallant attack of Stevens' division, at Secessionville, losing none out of 474 engaged. In July, the troops returned to Virginia and shared in Gen. Pope's campaign, with the 3rd brigade, 1st division, 9th corps, losing 105 killed, wounded or missing during the engagements near Manassas. At Chantilly, Gen. Stevens, former colonel of the 79th, was killed.

The 79th was active at South Mountain, Antietam, and Fredericksburg, but was not closely engaged in the latter. It shared the discomforts of Burnside's "Mud March," returned to camp at Fal-mouth, and moved west with the 9th corps, to join Gen. Grant's forces before Vicksburg. The regiment took part in the siege and in the pursuit to Jackson. It then fought at Blue Springs, at Campbell's station, Tenn., and aided in the defense of Knoxville. The men bore uncomplainingly the hardships of the return of the 9th corps across the mountains to Virginia and in May, Cos. A and B were transferred to the 18th corps. The regiment shared the opening battles of the Wilderness campaign and was mustered out at the expiration of its term of enlistment, May 31, 1864. The veterans and recruits served as provost guard at corps headquarters and were reinforced in the autumn of 1864 by the addition of several companies of new recruits. This battalion served before Petersburg until the fall of the city and was mustered out at Alexandria, Va., July 14, 1865. The total enrollment of the regiment was 1,385, exclusive of the battalion organized in 1864, and it lost during service 116 by death from wounds and 83 from other causes. Its record is one of unfailing heroism and devotion to the cause for which it fought and it is ranked by Col. Fox among the "three hundred fighting regiments". Taken from dmna.ny.gov

What is your guys' opinion on a regiment lead by 2 people of the same rank sharing the same power,

ex. 2 Colonels of a regiment, 2 Captains or whatever the case may be.

In most cases it doesn't seem to work out but in rare instances it can work if the two have the same ideals,

Thoughts and experiences anyone?
