They're making another Star Trek movie. The 2009 movie recieved a lot of hate from the Star Trek community, and I did not hate it, but I don't feel it followed the essence of Star Trek.
As a fan, I'm one of the only fans my age in this city from what I've seen. I've written many fan-fics and I play Star Trek Online where i recreated myself, and am captain of a discovery class starship. Two years ago I had the pleasure of attending one of the official Star Trek conventions in boston, where I had many encounters with Trekkers and the actors alike.
I met and chatted a bit with Gene Roddenbury's right hand man.
Talked with the klingon makeup artist.
Got close to winning a trivia competition.
Proposed my idea for the next Star Trek flim.
Also, while I was sitting in the hotel dining room, I didn't recognize the person across from us but it turns out it was Martok. Later I met Ethan Phillips in the elevator, but I didn't believe it was him until he came on stage. I also had the pleasure of having my photo taken with Shatner himself, I said "hi" and he responded,"hi". Best moment of my life.
I also one the auction for a massive Cassey Biggs (Damar) Poster that was part of the convention room decor, it was valued at like 200-250 but i got it for 70 with a free Cassey Biggs autograph.
Star Trek isn't what it used to be, but it will live on in the hearts of us Trekkers.
