Best application EU.

Also I think I killed the officers of the 15th Hussars in todays 91st event and now to take power hahaha.

Hehehe, cheers, I had some spare time over here, so I thought, why not make a fancy one? ;D

Careful, this might be a lenghty one. :P

Ingame name? - Maroon
Steam Name? - [45th] Maroon
Age? - 18
Timezone? - GMT +1 (The Netherlands)
Will you be active? - Only time will tell :p
Previous Regiment Experience? - Righto. I started out in January 2012, or late December 2011 (can't quite remember) in the 43rd Highlanders regiment, later reformed as the 42nd, led by Charles MacDonald. That regiment disbanded late March 2012, after which I joined the 1st King's Dragoon Guards of the 5th Brigade, led by Wodan. The KDG has seen a few reformings over it's course, and from December 2012 till February 2013 I have actually led it myself.
In February, I managed to persuade Wodan back as a leader, after which I kept the rank of Lieutenant Colonel for about 4 months. Then, in June, the inevitable happened, and the 5th Brigade was disbanded as a whole.
The KDG was then reformed as the 18th Royal Hussars, since the Hussars were just added to the game back then, which I joined after taking a break of about a month, and assumed the rank of Lieutenant. I did not feel quite at home at this regiment, though, because I was not confident in the Colonel of the 18th. This, among some other reasons, have made me leave this regiment a few days past.
Right, I think that pretty much sums up my MM/NW carreer so far.
Why should we accept you? - Well, when it comes to experience, I think I can count myself amongst the veteran cavalrymen, seeing I have had about 1.5 years of linebattle experience as cavalry, of which ~9 months leading. The KDG and the 18thRH fancied me a good leader, so I suppose I am. :p
Aside from that, I feel I can add a few things to this regiment, as I'm sure the way you lead and train aren't identical to the methods I'm used to, so I can add my experience to your schedule.
How much are you willing to improve? - Not quite sure how much I can improve further, but any improvement is welcome.
Where did you find out about us? - Well, I have cut just about everyone of you to pieces in linebattles (although I'm pretty sure you have done so a great many more times to me :P), and you seem to be a nice enough li'l group.

As mentioned before, I have recently quit a different cavalry regiment. I am not 100% sure if a chance of regiment will help me regain my vigor for NW, as that has been steadily declining over the past few months. If that is not the case, you might not see of me again in a few weeks' time, but if it is, you might find yourself a dedicated soldier in me. :P

I think that's pretty much all I have to say. I hope to find a nice regiment in the 15th, and I hope you guys find a nice new recruit in me. :P

Cheers,

Maroon

P.S. The [45th] in my Steamname is not related to NW, but to Arma 3.

General Discussion / Re: Lancers: Still an Issue?

Yea, that's the problem, I can't think of a way to downgrade em a bit more without making them completely underpowered.
Also, it's almost impossible to make them the worst possible choice, as long as British Light Dragoons are around. :P

I agree with the general opinion here that lancers indeed are killable, even as cavalry. The problem, though (from my point of view), is that lancers are a lot easier to get in to. A whack-ass lancer can kill a decent hussar or cuirassier, and a decent lancer has an easier job at killing good cavalry than a decent hussar would have, and I think there should be a way to balance that a bit more, if only FSE were to make another patch. I can live with the way lancers are now, but I'd like to see them downscaled a bit more.

Always got to love this scenario:

Behind enemy arty

"They don't know we're here. We're not going to volley, just stab them in the back."

Three noobs battle cry.

Massacre proceeds. Ambush Fail.

Even worse when fighting as cavalry... ::)

First of all, best of luck to your regiment and army! :D

Also, as a remark to your original post:

Te Trotseren!

Te trotseren means something like... overcome-able. Something that others can conquer, with a bit of patience. So I'm not sure what you actually wanted to say, but if you tell me in English, I think I can help you translate it better. (Unless, of course, those words were the original words of the regiment, because the Dutch language tends to change. A lot. So it might have meant something else back then, but I don't think so)

But again, good luck! :D

Then can you tell me what other parts a cannon would consist of? This is counting a field cannon by the way, which has wheels, not the wall cannons or ship cannons.
A field cannon is made of the body, the trigger, and 2 wheels. A wall cannon (if I may call it that) is made of a body, a trigger, and a base which it moves up and down on.
I can't see how a cannon is made out of more objects.

10
When you have a cannon limbered to a horse, it isn't a cannon, or at least, that's what I like to think.
It looks like a cannon, but it's only texture, and turning wheels...

That's where you're wrong, though. An unlimbered cannon theoratically causes this lag because it is made of multiple objects. You have the cannon itself, the firing trigger, and the wheels it stands on. However, as soon as a cannon is limbered, it turns into 3 objects. The cannon itself, attached to the limber thing behind the horse, and the 2 wheels it stands on.
Now, I'm pretty sure that if you place a horse, with a rider, and a limbered cannon behind it adds up to 5 objects. A cannon plus shooter consists of 6 objects (also countng the ammo box), and the shooter isn't even attached to the cannon. If a horse with rider and cannon can stand on a moving ship, why can't a cannon? Sure, it is more prone to lag than a person, but it's doable, I think.

11
Sounds like a doable solution. Good thinking mate!

Cuirassiers are the most heavily armored troops in the game, so they get their own section. For some reason, though, Prussian cuirassiers do not get increased armor.

The Prussian cuirassiers at this time did not get their armour until 1815 (according to Napoleon His Army His Enemies) but they still kept their title as armoured horsemen   ;D

Didn't know that, thanks for the info! ;)

Regarding the 5th Brigade, the cavalry is not called the 1st King's Dragoon Guards, but the 18th Royal Hussars (thread).
Also, the 68th Regiment of Rifles has joined the brigade! Linkie link

... doesn't mean you can spam with non-relevant shit like this.

Sigh...

Spoiler
Oh boy, somebody who thinks they are a melee god.

You are mentally insane or extremely unintelligent if you think those giant cavalry cleavers weigh 3 pounds.

Don't make excuses for blowing at sword combat
[close]

I'm reminded of a certain pot and kettle here.

15
Ignoring Dionysus'... impressive statements in this thread (and my own wrong assumption of 15 pounds ;D), I agree to the fact that briquets need to be buffed, like I said before. Increased speed and damage, though not too much, to make it at least somewhat of a choice in the game when it comes to weapons.
