Socialism isn't a system, it's a political colour. I'm a socialist; With that, I mean that I think the rich should pay more tax then the poor (and with that I mean quite a bit more); the government is there to provide a basic living standard for her citizens; healthcare systems are necessary; The government must play a minor role in the economics of her country.

The problem with this way of thinking, that people who earn much should pay more ( Which, they by the way do regularly, even without a increased tax percentage), comes when deciding where to line for "earn much" goes.

After all, a vast majority of citizens can rearrange their lifestyles, start using cheaper alternatives, and instead use the surplus to pay higher tax. Yet only the rich people are called out, because it is easy to think along the lines of "they have so much money they can take it". Only that this can be applied to most people, high or middle income alike.

And before you start calling people selfish cunts for losing over half of their income to taxes, why don't you start giving away half of what you earn, or get, each month.

Also, people, know the difference from socialism and Social democracy.

Yes, I think people who leave their country just because they don't want to share their (quite enormous) wealth selfish cunts.

Oh, and my wages are being taxed, by the way, so I have the right to call them selfish cunts.

Do explain.

On a side note, maybe this should be moved to 'off-topic' ?

My favorite is Fascisme and I hate capitalism.

Fascism is heavily fused with Corporatism, That makes it ultra-capitalist.
Though some fascists like Hitler and Mussolini did use central planning for a few things.

In 1939, Italy had the second most state owned corporations in the world, only USSR had more.

People are messing up Communism and Soviet Communism.

Let me remind you that there is a HUUUUUGE difference between the two. Seriously read the stuff old Marx wrote to see real communism like a leaderless state and people working together.

Soviet " communism " is nothing but a shoddy dictatorship.

It is correct that people are not seing the differences between Leninism(centralised democracy where the party "guides" the people) and Marxism. But there is two things all commies out there should think about:
1. Are there a working class in the western world?
2. Why is violence the only answer?

You darn commies must understand that most ideologies are frozen in the time they were made, it is very much like religion. The only socialist-alternative that would make sence in todays world is Bernstein's revisionism ;)

But I'm just a suppressing capitalist, what do I know?
1)For Marx:The definition of the Proletarians(aka Working class) is about all the people who don't have the social ways to product themselves the goods. In fact it's represent 80% of the World population.
2)Maybe because the Capitalist Oligarchy where we are living everywhere won't give us the power like that :3

By the way, i chuckle at Karth for thinking that all old soviet satellite states are still socialist countries. Why didn't you name countries like France and Sweden. I don't blame you though, i don't know the political alignment of all US states  :P

1. Ok, but the "Proletarians" has changed greatly. It is no longer once class, and "Proletarians" have the oppurtunity to reach the top.
2. My last statement + lobbyism from corporations give them a great power, which you define as an "oligarchy", but is violence still the answer? Why not use their tricks against them if they're so bad?

And to all those who're saying "Communist dictatorships does not follow Marxism correctly": Then people might as well say the same about all other ideologies. "Fascism has never followed Gabrielle D 'Annunzio's left-fascism way, Mussolini corrupted it.", for example.

I think Communism is the best. The communism in China and Soviet-Russia were just dictatorships indeed. But, for example, look at Yugoslavia. Everything went well there, until Tito died. Then we know what happened.....  :'(

Personally I'm a socialist, I think communism is a bit too far. Capitalism isn't good either. Just the upper classes filling their pockets (India for example). Aa ideal combination (for me) would be socialism and capitalism, but I think that's not going to work.

Some people call that "Keynesian Economics".
