Edit:Yea a two hour frame.Most people won't be able to see the changes of their avatar's size.

I'd prefer a system that allows larger length (vertical) than width (horizontal) due to people having illustrations of people as pictures, which are longer in image size typically.

Well they can just fill the sides up a bit then :)
My avatar is almost square, which means that the guy in the picture should be placed properly and not out to the left.
